hint...if you want to add a dominant color but don't want it to mix to create muddy colors in 2nd method... Dribble in black on sides and let dry. Then add other colors and even small amount of black if you want. The colors will not get muddy.
The acrylic paint is the liquidy kind you get in the bottles. The thicker paint in the tubes might need to be thinned down in order for it to flow inside the ornament.
You can mix the glitter in with the paint for more subtle effect or add the glitter in first then pour the paint overtop so that it “glues” the glitter in place and moves with the paint too. Hope that helps!
Love these! I've made 4 of these baubles. Two of them have turned out ok and the other two for some reason leaves gags where the paint hasn't set. What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be fab😊
So glad you love them!! In terms of the places where the paint didn't set, likely the paint didn't get a chance to fully dry. I found what really helped dry them fast was putting the ornaments in front of a fan (spout facing fan). I left them for 4-6 hours like that and the paint fully cured in my ornaments. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Also, there may be some oils or something on the surface. You may want to clean them out by swishing some alcohol around inside and letting them dry first.
I have a question. I did the same way with the way you show on video with Acrylic pouring paint and for some reason few of the paint color striping out and the whole color won't stay. ?? What did I do wrong?
Hi Dawn, I had the same issue as you with the acrylic pouring paint. I found it was too runny and didn't coat the inside of the ornament properly. You can checkout this portion of the video where I talk about my experience: ua-cam.com/video/4DzCnnxf2yg/v-deo.html. Essentially, I found that the best type of paint to use for this craft is the acrylci craft paint in the bottles ( I used the brand Deco Art , but others might work too). Hope that helps and let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers, Jasmine ❤
Hey Liz, the first ornament( blue/turquoise) is using the swirl method ( method #1). The second ( dark green/gold/silver/white) is the shaking method( method #2). The rest of them I can’t remember entirely but looking back at the video they look mostly “shaking method” ( method #2) if I had to guess. I remember preferring method #2 more, it just gave a more dramatic colouration and the colors didn’t blend as much and maintained their own. Hope that helps❤️
I've had a go at making some of these and some haven't turned out very well😖😏 some have tried and have left a circle mark at the bottom and some haven't covered very well when you hold them up to light you can see through or there are patches even though I made sure it was all covered. Help🙈😊
Hi Carol, a couple of tips would be make sure the paint isn’t too thin ( no watering it down) this was the cause of some of my ornaments being see through, if the paint is being used out of bottle perhaps try a different brand of paint ( Deco Art craft paint worked well) since some brands might be thinner than others. To avoid the circles at bottom, you can leave the ornaments to dry upside down for 24 hours so the paint evenly drains out and doesn’t pool at bottom. After the 24 hours, if paint still isn’t fully dried then you can turn ornament right side up and placing in front of a fan should do the trick. Hope that helps!
@@feelingnifty Thank you for that some paint was thick so I did water it down a little so that makes sense. I've ordered some deco art of Amazon which I've a lot better than the paint I bought here in my town. Thank you again😊
Is it the DecoArt in bottles? If so then it should be pretty thin. Like the commenter above mentioned it might just need to be mixed (try shaking the bottle) or a few drops of water might do the trick. If you just bought it, you can try exchanging it for another bottle. Gluck!
Excellent question! Many times it can take 48 hours minimum or sometimes longer. But It really depends on the humidity in the space where they are drying and how thick the paint inside the ornament is. That’s why I first like to store them upside down for 24 hours or overnight at least to drain all the excess paint out. Then flip them over and and leave to air dry for 24 hours or longer until dry to the touch. They were not drying fast enough ( 3 days later)so I propped them up facing a desktop fan and that did the trick in 2-3 hours to dry them up completely. Hope that helps
Hi Astrid, the cracks happened to me when I used a paint that was really thin. When it’s too thin it slides right off and doesn’t seem to stick and dry, creating some streaks and cracks. It seems to work well when using craft paint without watering it down. You could also try different paint brands. It might be that one paint brand is a bit thinner than others. Deco Art brand which I bought from the dollar store worked well for my ornaments. Hope that helps!
Thank you, it was fun to play with the color combos😊 Yes, I agree the ring light was a bit of a challenge when filming because of the ultra reflective nature of the plastic ornaments - thank you for your honest feedback though, if I ever do one again I’ll figure out a better way.
I would like to gather the supplies for this project and sell it as a kit. Can I give you credit on the packaging and link your video as the instructional to the kits that I will sell in my small shop?
You can buy all of the items from Dollartree, just some of the paint bottles I had on hand were from another local dollarstore. But you can buy the same paint (just different brand) from Dollartree. Hope that helps!

If you pour, swirl & drain a little floor wax inside the ornament first it cleans the inside & makes it a little tacky to help the paint stick better.

@@carolberriman7270 that’s great to hear Carol thanks for letting me know 🙏Enjoy making them☺️
We used DecoArt acrylic paint and it was so thick it would not flow. Any suggestions?
How old is your paint? You might add a few drops of water to it and mix it in well.
Is it the DecoArt in bottles? If so then it should be pretty thin. Like the commenter above mentioned it might just need to be mixed (try shaking the bottle) or a few drops of water might do the trick. If you just bought it, you can try exchanging it for another bottle. Gluck!
If you add vinegar and let it dry before you start the paint will stick better.
That’s a great tip, thank you for sharing that JoElla!❤️
On average, how long do they take to dry?
Excellent question! Many times it can take 48 hours minimum or sometimes longer. But It really depends on the humidity in the space where they are drying and how thick the paint inside the ornament is. That’s why I first like to store them upside down for 24 hours or overnight at least to drain all the excess paint out. Then flip them over and and leave to air dry for 24 hours or longer until dry to the touch. They were not drying fast enough ( 3 days later)so I propped them up facing a desktop fan and that did the trick in 2-3 hours to dry them up completely. Hope that helps
I tried your second way, but after a week the paint looks cracked. :( . any advice? Thanks in advance
@@feelingnifty Thank you so much.
@@astridrubio6977 most welcome! ☺️

Thank you so much
Amazing combination of colors - Your ring light was distracting in the video.
Hey Susan, let’s chat. Please PM me contact@feelingnifty.com
So all of items aren't from dollar tree ?
You can buy all of the items from Dollartree, just some of the paint bottles I had on hand were from another local dollarstore. But you can buy the same paint (just different brand) from Dollartree. Hope that helps!
loved your video but had trouble hearing you
Thank you Becky! In terms of the sound issue, if turning the volume up on the player/your device is not possible then there is always the “cc” option button at the top right corner of the video- this will enable closed captions so can read along what I am saying. Hope that helps❤️
