Great addition to his lineup. José does excellent work, has interesting designs, and is one heck of a nice guy. I own several of his Nomad wallets in various leathers and configurations.
Man Jose is the man! Ordered the Ares custom made from Sin City Leather last week and Had it within a week. The quality and craftsmanship is outstanding. Communication with Jose A+++..
This review is awesome! Gave so much perspective nice touch on the packaging as well! I have the classic flap wallet and absolutely love it and get compliments all the time but this ares is absolutely gorgeous! And the challenge coin sleeve is a nice touch, I think I know what my next wallet purchase will be so I can start carrying my coin again! Awesome Review!
Yes, it's a truth in quality leathers like shell, Full grain and top grain that are Veg tanned. They conform under the combination of moisture and pressure. A good fix would be to insert a small piece of veg tan behind thinner coins to prevent them from shifting or falling out. Apply bee's wax to the flesh side, press coin onto it, then slide it down. It'll stick really well and it won't harm the leather. Worst case is that the obverse of your coin might get waxy, but that can be cured with a hair dryer. Cheers Chrispy! 🍺👍
Thanks for going into just a little detail about that leather. I saw the prices and was shocked and confused. Makes more sense now. Maybe you could breakdown the types of leather sometime from a laymen's POV 🤷♂️
Very nice looking wallet. Based on experience, I'm pretty sure if you swap to a smaller coin the leather will eventually adjust. Leather conforms to wear.
No the hole is too big to hold an AirTag. I’d reach out to Jose and see if he can do a custom pocket for you though. I heard he’s very open to suggestions for custom orders.
Not true that actually the best way to make the wallet as slim a possible. You have one pocket to hold your most used card and one pocket to hold everything else, that’s it. The best designed wallets have this in common I think

The Nomad is a great wallet.
I’m grateful for the review of my Ares Wallet
What actually holds more the nomad or rat pack?

Jose keeps knocking it out of the park.

Well done Chrispy! You are cranking towards 200k!!!
Very slowly 🤣
I’ve not carried a challenge coin over 20 years. Cheers!

Not a bad idea. Thanks for the suggestion

A rugged, rough and tough looking wallet. I would prefer that snap strap to be on top though, instead of on the side.
this looks slick
well i might not need to carry my challenge coin with me but i have a silver coin that’s about the same size that will probably carry with me
I have an 1885 silver dollar and I just now measured it. It is 1 1/2” in diameter. Slightly smaller than that hole.
@@stevecounts325 dang i was just thinking if a silver dollar could fit lol good to know
Speakeasy leather is better.
Dedicated challange coin holders work better.
The view-port for the coin is neat though.
The Dalton and The Ares are both excellent wallets for carrying coins
will the coin pocket hold an airtag ?

He'll def do custom sized for airtags
Like the coin pocket, but it's so unsecure.
As long the coin pocket doesn’t stretch out when going to a smaller coin, it holds them well in my experience
@@ChrispyThings so that limits one's options on what coins to carry. I think if they added some sort of closer, that would be a solution.
What the heck is a challenge coin?
Google is your friend…
Stuffing cards together in one pocket is bad no matter the material or wallet.
Interesting.
