What do people think of my theory? Mary Shelton was Henry's mistress. Norris wouldn't marry her. He didn't want leftovers. I think that is what Norris and Henry argued about after that joust. No, Jane was not in a worse spot than Anne. Anne was not accepted by the populace. People thought Anne guilty, so Jane was undisputed wife. No previous husband...and did not usurp a popular queen.

Since the king and queen had a lot of people present in their privy chambers and even in their beds at night, I am curious how the king and queen decided to have their intimate moments? Did they plan ahead for a night alone together? Or did they from time to time dismiss all of their companions and servants? Did they spend whole nights together? It sounds like Henry slept all night with Anne of Cleves if there is any truth to her description of a good night kiss and a good morning kiss...with nothing more in between. LOL!
I am also curious about Anne Bloeyn's reported jealousy. Medical beliefs at the time were that males, for their health, needed an outlet for various humors. Heaven knows a man could go to hell or go blind or something if he spilled his seed upon the ground. It has been said that in various royal courts, kings sought other females while queens were pregnant, etc. This is said to have been the case in Henry VIII's court. If so, Anne tried very hard to produce the son Henry craved and that required pregnancy during which I think intimate relations between husband and wife were discouraged. So, Anne must have known Henry would seek relief with other women when she was pregnant. Was she jealous of all women who might fill this "need" or was she especially worried about women that Henry might enjoy for more reasons than physical relief?
Back in the Crusades, women accompanied the armies in order to provide physical release for the men. Medical belief then, a few centuries before the Tudor court, was that women release fluids monthly but men did not have this automatic biological function. Therefore they needed women so they would not have bad humors build up inside.

Excellent details - thank you! I read you could not have intimate relationships while pregnant...Anne must have been really nervous that Henry was going to fall in love with another lady during that time...we know entitled Henry was not the faithful type 😐 That's why I do not discard the theory that Anne might have asked Marge Shelton to step in...what a toxic era.
