I completely agree with, A Stunning Beauty, every time i her this recording it takes my mind to a place of beauty, and I am someone who also loves brilliant rocking music like Thin Lizzy, Rotty Gallagher and other greats, maybe it is the Celtic feel of magic words and music and storytelling that gets me.
Superb song from Van...i was born and reared in Arklow Co Wicklow Ireland...proud that the great man wrote that song when he stayed there for a while all those years ago....
My favourite song of all...listening to this since I was 18 in the 70's, still love it...never tired of it, thank you Van, blessed to have discovered you in my life
A bit off before, evening the Score, the Song Streets of Arklow glows with Van's passion, wonder, Voice, and takes me to the place where the grass does indeed grow with the greatness of this Song!
Letting someone else sing it for me, living through honest approaches, devoid of the Stage Shows, more to the grist of the meal, my bocyle tours, exploring places I sought and found viable, acoustic guitar, straightforward, yet fresh as the dusk and dawn, Irish roots shining through?
" Philosopher's Stone" vol 2 is a compilation of songs which "did not make" the cut!! Some of them are of similar quality or even, more awesome than the album themselves in which they were not included!
A GREAT period of Van's magnificent career. Touring St Dominics album, or maybe Veedon Fleece? Then he took a few years off before taking the stage for Last Waltz. Then his performances in the late 70s- mid 80s, perhaps his best decade.
Dark, feeling blue, seeking to renew, Family's true, so now I wander like I do, six of nine, Parents shine, at least mine, in Memories of Siblings. too, list of Sioux, an X I could not forget was Silent!
Im in now Arklow listening now. ❤

Unsurpassed musicianship gifting us his soul expression. Glad I've shared the world with Van the Man.
I refuse to disagree with a single world that you wrote because what you said is true
Soul satisfaction.

That is a great album.
There are some crackers on it. 👍.

"Lord, we love to roam".............
WOW!
So Sir Present Poetry, take as you shall give.

I’m disappointed this didn’t use the recorder like the studio version, or at least a bit of flute. Great capture anyway. Cheers for posting.
I just heard a lengthy jammed out version her on UA-cam that includes magnificent lead harmonica as well as lead alto sax and violin solos.
My thoughts on first listen but now this version is my go to. The insistent drum and piano give it a earthiness so in tune with the words.
Def needs the flute
Not a single album from Van Morrison contains any filler!!
Pas beaucoup de vues. Dommage
Searching for the Veedon Fleece !!!
