Grocery prices are not determined by the government. If care about grocerie(sic) prices you have to do something about the capitalist system that determines pricing on the rule of letting the free market determine the price. i.e. The price and supply of goods depends on the demand.

They are purposely not lowering prices because they are making a profit since consumers have shown they will still pay out of necessity. Same with oil companies during covid. That's pretty much the point of this show at this juncture. They are there to tell the audience not to believe their lying eyes, and that Joe Biden is doing great as president, and that he shouldn't ever be criticized, despite not being able to mention anything he is doing well.

I disagree...what Whoopi stated about who the people should be mad at is true. The people should direct frustration to companies who are raising prices. The government has no involvement in companies prices. Companies set their own prices which is why you could see lower or higher prices. It's companies greed that is increasing your food cost not government.
This is something I can't stress enough, the people should understand how things work before they express their thoughts.
If people are wanting prices to be lowered, what would people suggest we do to ease the pain? Would those companies agree to lowered prices when their profits are bigger than ever? Would the government involvement force companies to lowered prices? Whatever government do will anger companies and force changes that will be more uncertain. Our best bet is to rally against those companies to make them lowered their prices.

It’s not hard to not worry about grocery prices when you don’t have look at grocery prices. My grocery bill is up about 35-40% from just a couple years ago. It’s insane. You can’t ignore problems that affect literally 80% of America but it doesn’t affect YOU!!!

Grocery prices are expensive EVERYWHERE. Here in Australia the monopoly of groceries is ruled by two major retailers that most of the country relies on for groceries. They’re ripping off the farmers and gouging them and us.

Yeah because of people like you believing the myth that business only exist to make money. People need to eat food. People will die from not eating. And yet people don't just steal from supermarkets to get food. We expect everyone to be good citizens. A business or corporation is a man made idea, it is not one of the fundamental constants of nature. It can be whatever we want it to be. If we want corporations to focus on job creation, consumer interests, investment in communities, in addition to profits, we only have to make it so.
Maybe it's about time we expected more of corporations rather than believing in a myth that only serves businesses.

Its called capitalism and a mostly unregulated corporate economy in America, so corporations have minimum gov't interference. Corporations can do what they want, and what Whoopi and Sunni were asking Alyssa was, "What can Biden do?" When she did answer, she didn't give anything beyond, he could talk with the corporations. If you want lower prices, everyone in the grocery chain needs to lower their expenses. Some may be real costs like fuel and price of grain, but some are the grocery store shareholders who want to see quarterly profits! This is a hard one because we need to eat but these corporation can and do, what they want. The President doesn't have the legal right to interfere with commerce except in war and natural disaster (like companies can't gauge in pricing for hurricane victims without the possibility of being sued)
Its all they got expect a lot more excuses between now and the election. TRUMP 2024.

This was a tough watch. I definitely believe Alyssa’s message would’ve been received better if she had the chance to state her thoughts in one sitting instead of having to come in and out of the conversation. I also think that the other ladies want to make sure that Biden has a good light on him regardless of if he’s “wrong” because of how important it is for him to win. But like Alyssa was trying to say, even though his win for election is important, the reality is that he isn’t perfect and there is a little bit more he can advocate for.
Notice the way to challenge is never answered because in a free market country there's no way the president can control grocery prices! That's just stupidity

Most Americans care more about the grocery store prices than the wars we are involved in. Whoopie doesn’t get that at all.
Grocery stores prices are really up and not addressing that will certainly not help people feel seen and they might feel not so interested in voting for someone that is not interested in hearing and helping their everyday issues… I think this should be top urgency matter, it’s a constant reminder of something that is not being addressed… some of the host brushing that down the rug attitude about this subject is upsetting…

When the groceries bill was once $150 to $200 and now it’s $300 to $500. That is considered an increase. It’s not just groceries prices that are surging, it’s everything. Every bill I have shoot up, do not get me started on insurance. You want to know what didn’t, My pay!

its illegal for corporations to gauge during national and natural disasters, that's why they couldn't raise prices during the pandemic. Actually the grocery stores are arguing that the rise in prices now is due to the pandemic short supplies where THEY paid out of profits to ensure groceries were there for us, because it was illegal to gauge us then. They are trying to make it back now.
I’m teaching my high school students about propaganda while reading 1984 right now. The way Whoopi routinely interrupts Alyssa and makes any reasonable conversation impossible, all while saying “he’s right” and suggesting that it’s wild for there to be any criticism of Biden, is unnerving and anti democratic. It’s bonkers that this show identifies itself as a hotbed for important discussion, yet the major dissenting point of view is always stepped on and cut short.

I just spent 800 dollars on groceries and got 87 things … that’s absolutely insane. I don’t know how long I’m going to be able to afford my apartment because of no rent control in Florida . We can’t keep living like this
Yes Alyssa!! Hold your ground! I Paid $97 at Trader Joe’s for the same items that would cost $45 a few years back. Literally snacks …. Gas prices keep going up, groceries ate at this point out gravity’s, eating out as a family… a luxury, mortgage and rent + interest, unbelievable even in the once affordable state of North Carolina. These things don’t matter for the folks on the view table but the rest of us are STRUGGLING!!

It was 4 dollars here in NYC for just one big onion that I needed! So I had to go to a couple different stores in NYC to find one that is cheaper. Found a bag for 5 dollars of small White onions instead. 🤷♂️
