No problem. Roads just a bit more twisty. The drive alone is stunning. The NZMCA parks have more space for caravans. Weather is a lottery but don’t let that put you off

That sucks! Sorry to hear that. I hope the experience hasn't put you off freedom camping too much. We had a great run around many freedom spots in the North Island last year but always a bit worried in the back of my mind. Put a wire loop alarm around the bikes on the back carrier tray but that probably wouldn't stop them if they wanted something. Helped me sleep better.
What's the roads like down there for caravans? We only went down to hokitika. Looks the usual west coast weather haha

We had our bikes stolen at the freedom camp
