I thought Matt Malloy had no equal when it came to this tune , but you have certainly thrown down the gauntlet to him . That was simply outstanding , what complete mastery of an instrument . Outstanding .
Breathtaking. And it would take my breath to play that fast. Amazing. I did catch myself holding me breathe in amazement, especially near the end. I hope I can play that well when I grow up (I'm only 66 so still a ways to go). Thanks, Lads.
I love it that you choose to play a slower version so We can learn the tune, then you speed up. Enjoy it so much, so please do not give up, keep posting trad tunes, jigs, reels, polkas, hornpipes that are played in sessions. Thank you so much. ☘️🧝♀️
This is the sweetest version I've heard on tin whistle and guitar. I've getting a definite reggae overtone also. I can imagine it going down well on a Caribbean beach. Quality lads!
That's awesome guys! I play that on the fiddle. One of my favorites. I wish I could play the whistle. Good thing to have when one is hiking and camping. It's a chick magnet when one is at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Or a harmonica works too :)
Yup, it's dangerous for a fiddle (or, if you're wearing shoes, a "violin") in them thar mountains, valleys and thickets. I watched a fiddler's violin at a bluegrass concert literally melt away (they use "hide glue") at the seams and fall apart from the humidity.
I have been looking at some reels and some hornpipes. They seem to be rather similar in structure with the difference hornpipes are dot and cut. So if one played a reel dot and cut would in become a hornpipe?
Hi guys, do you do a slow break down 'play along' learner version of this? Just picked up the whistle after many, many years and I'd love to be able to pull this one out at the parties.
Recognized it right away! Bought my "D" in 1999 for only $60 + $3 shipping for a whopping $63 total - before John's whistles were recognized by the masses as being great. Glad I bought it before the two-year waiting period, and now the much higher price. GREAT whistle!
@@usernamemykel Me too! Bought two (one for my very talented lady friend) from John in 2007 for $125 apiece & considered that a great bargain for such high quality materials & workmanship. John is alive & well & playing regularly at the Landmark in Manhattan
ozzy85Mpower Could be Masonic too. It's a Scottish reel and Scotland is the home of a large branch of Masonry ie The Scottish Rite. Masonic Regalia includes a Mason's Apron. But it's a great reel and brilliantly played here. Another great Scottish Reel is 'Miss MacCleod (of Rasay)." These reels are very popular here in Ireland as is all Scottish music.

Good traditional Matt Molloy ending. I love when people stick to tradition. ;)
tremendous!!!
what is the itro song to all of your video's?
that’s what i’m wondering
Properly played with the slow start and increasing pace with final solo.
I have been looking at some reels and some hornpipes. They seem to be rather similar in structure with the difference hornpipes are dot and cut. So if one played a reel dot and cut would in become a hornpipe?
that was TNT!

Tom Trainor
So cool!!!!!
Very similar to Killarney ☘️
WOW
Anyone know where I can find the notes if this
The BEST way is to learn the notes is by ear(s), the way bluegrass, Celtic players, and blues harp players have been doing it for years.
Spudatas boys 😉😎
A Masonic apron or a stone mason's apron?
