I think he was hoping it would be viral hit. I honestly feel bad for him, his ego must be imploding. I went to hos restraunt in Istanbul while on holiday there a few months ago, I ate his steak (not the gold plates one) and Met him and grabbed a photo. The total of the meal came up to around 400GBP I think, but this was me, my brother and parents. I would say the food was overpriced and luckily we didn't get and redbulls. I think most of the price would be for the "experience. " glad I went but wouldn't go again. It felt like any other high class dinner but with a celebrity that showed up for 2 minutes to put his elbow grease on steak.

I work in “luxury” hotels in food and beverage.
£8 for a Red Bull is “high” in the eyes of many people who drink it daily, but it’s in line with what the hotel would need to charge to make 77% GP on a £1.50 cost price, which again is pretty standard across this sector.
Red Bull is a premium product that commands a premium price.
Large accounts buy from wholesalers and we don’t get cut deals like at the supermarket, so we pay whatever the current rate is, which of course is steadily increasing.
Guests drinking soft drinks don’t get cut any special favours because it means they’re not drinking a higher spend product like wine. The Restaurant still needs to make their margin and contribute toward the spend per head.
Red Bull just gets highlighted in this situation because everyone knows what the price is in Tesco, yet it’s easier to obscure the markup with wine, because the market is so broad; it’s not just one product.
And if you’ve got this far….
His food prices are absolutely ridiculous.
There is no conceivable way that the steaks he sells should cost multiple hundreds, if not thousands of pounds, other than the obvious business plan of taking money from Oil Oligarchs and Instagram Wannabes.
We sell a similar sized steak, and based on our cost price which will be much higher because we are not a dedicated steak restaurant with considerable buying power, at £600 per this video, Salt Bae is making 95% Gross Profit.
And I bet that despite all that extra revenue, that I get paid better….

Why is everyone being so salty about this?
15% to swipe a card, on top of then taxing the the meal + 15% service charge. Check with credit bureau and you'll see that conpanies are not allowed to force their customer to pay a fee to swipe. Business owner needs new customers, so he enters into contract for CC services and agrees to pay them (the CC bureau) roughly 3% of whatever purchase.. so on that $1500 meal should've been $1650 with taxes,. then the OWNER pays 3% to have the CC company validate the swipe. This in return gets the owner new customers (new people who dont use cash).. Business owners are also not allowed to impose a "minimum fee" to use a card, and is illegal to do so- as well as fined and imposed restrictions from the issuing CC company. Gas station ever mention theres a minimum- I respond that it's illegal for you to do, I'll call the cops to press charges and I'll call your credit card issuer to file a formal complaint against this business for imposing non-allowed fees for customer credit card usage. They'll instantly say ok ok ok,. but next time TRY to spend more then X amount,. because they know- that they cant actually be doing it.
I stand corrected, statutes have change slightly. Sellers may impose a credit card surcharge of no more than 5 percent of the purchase price. Surcharges must be clearly posted and communicated BEFORE payment for it to be valid.

I know many of you guys don't like the guy. What he did at the world cup was stupid. But this guy came from a very poor family and worked really hard to achieve what he has. He didn't turn his "15 minutes of Fame" into money, he was already very successful prior to his famous salt video.
