@buckiesilas5284 that's not true at all. The fire department boat was using foam, as were the firefighters on the dock, the merchant Marine boat wasn't. The Marine boat made this way worse than it needed to be.
What persistent fires - that middle boat pretty much burned to the waterline - looked like its fuel was going up. I saw some foam about 7:15 or so....I wonder why they weren't using more of it. Great coverage JSFR.
When applying foam you only get 30% expansion rate due to improper aeration of solution. Foam is the most effective way to control a floating fuel spill fire. Al Huelsenbeck TMSA
It seemed they had a pretty good knock down with foam. We don't know if they ran out of foam, but it seems that they stopped applying foam and switched back to water - which appeared to negate the effect of the foam ... When fighting a flammable or combustible liquid with straight water, it is advisable to use fog instead of the straight streams they're shown using. The fire boats appear to be equipped with combination fog & straight stream nozzles ... These are just my observations, not criticism.
The boats definitely ran outta foam. They probably only have enough for 8-10k gallons. You see they used foam in the beginning, and then the end from the dock.
You literally couldn't be more wrong hahaha. Go throw a pack in the water and tell me when a bottle full of air sinks.. Plenty of videos to disprove that youll sink. Also, how else is the fire gonna go out without guy's in gear and a handline? .@robertkirkpatrick7903

@@tomlorenzen4062 Not if you get a line on them and pull them away with one of the 3 fireboats there that were doing nothing except spreading it around more. One of them could've easily gotten a line on a few of the other boats in the vicinity and pulled them further down the dock, not hard at all.
Instead of "Lets detail a boat (of the 5 we have sitting here) to get a line on the blue boat and possibly the boat to windward and pull them down the dock so they don't go up too" it's "Lets push a boat that we don't know how much fuel is on it but we know the tanks are ruptured and it could re-ignite at any moment into a boat that's NOT on fire while our 5 fire boats sit and watch, what could go wrong?"
