Dave's way of singing Condemnation looks more in line with the actual lyrics but having heard it so many times by Dave, this change is welcome as well :)

I think I heard a story that on the actual record Martin was going to sing the original version of 'Condemnation' but Dave insisted that he wanted to sing it instead which was kind of unusual because on most of DM's records the more introspective and personal songs are sung by Martin and the bigger songs by Dave. However, I am glad that Dave got to sing it on the record because it was on another level because of what he was going through at the time.

Musically, Peter is singing the same kind of harmony that other singers have done when they were singing back up vocals to Dave on this track. In the Devotional tour, they had two female gospel singers who sang these intervals in two-part harmony, while Martin sang his backing vocals for this track. I'm not trying to change your mind per se, but I don't think he was singing dramatically in my own opinion. As a musician, not everyone who plays an instrument can sing at the same time. Since they were doing a stripped down, acoustic version of this song, Peter was just trying to provide harmonies for Martin's vocals. But hey, you have your taste and everyone else has their tastes. Dave sings it so raw and heartwrenching, but Martin's version is more introspective and connected. This is a really special song.
