This was Terry Weeks’ debut song with the group. At the time, he was on reserve to help backup Ali-Ollie Woodson as he was battling throat cancer, and left the group after this recording. Terry is still with Otis Williams and Ron Tyson today. The other Tempts were: Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Theo Peoples, and Ray Davis. This was a tribute to founding member and bass singer Melvin Franklin who passed away on February 23rd,1995. Melvin’s death left Otis as the last surviving founding member of the group.
Profiles in Pittsburgh I love looking at Melvin he's so adorable and seeing him makes my heart warm and feel good I know that no one can take his place. Thank you Otis for being his friend and he be in yours I love all the songs you made together and I truly love The Temptations and The Four Tops don't leave Duke and Levi out. Their group makes me feel good too hallelujah amen sister Nora Parker
One of the best vocal groups ever . Love you always. Temptations forever. RIP David, Paul, Ollie, Eddie , Melvin , Richard and Damon. You will always live in many hearts.
WOW! Love this song. What a wonderful tribute to Melvin Franklin! Terry Weeks and Ali voices are like magic! Love the others too! Rest well to all those who have gone on❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the best vocal groups ever .All those Artist who have fallen through the years DOO-WOP, ROCK and ROLL R&B I bet gather up in the Heavens every once and awhile. I bet all the FALLEN TEMPTS & TOPS gather before God on a Big Stage and perform .Temptations forever. RIP. Paul, Al, David, Eddie & Melvin, Richard and Damon NOW On February 2nd 1 day before his 75th Brother Dennis Edwards joined them at the age of 74. All those who passed will always live in many hearts through the years.
This is a great tribute song for a great man! But I wish the temptations would've did seperate tribute songs to Paul, Eddie, David, and Harry when they passed away.
@tempsfan2 Terry was doing a special guest appearance on this recording. He wasn't in the group. At this time, I think he was still a part of the group "For Lovers Only."
Terry Weeks was on backup reserve for Ali. Because Ali was diagnosed with throat cancer during the recording of “For Lovers Only”, but he managed to record the whole album. But he left after it was released. Ray Davis, the bass singer who replaced Melvin on the album, also left the group after he was diagnosed with throat cancer after the album was released. Ray later died of respiratory problems on July 5th,2005. Ali died of leukemia on May 30th,2010.
No Theo Peeples was on for lovers only. BESIDES THAT OLLIE WOODSON WAS STILL LEAD SINGER OF THE TEMPTATIONS. TERRY WEEKS became a full fledge member on Phoenix IS Rising.
Being the big time tempts fan that Iam i thought I had heard all the great songs by them. Thank you for showing me that I can be wrong. Great song. Questions who was the bass at the time? Was this ever released on a cd. Dont leave me hanging. Again thanx great song for a Great Guy. Continue to R.I.P Blue. ps No doubt where you are. Walking around heaven making it RUMBLE.
How is that Ollie and Terry are on the same recording? Terry replaced Ollie, so they were never in the group at the same time. Was Terry doing a special guest appearance?

It's really funny, everyone is an authority on The Temptations but they lack the skill to reconize voices .When someone is featured on or in something I think it means there in there somewhere
Isn't that Theo Peoples who starts out first in the song? And I always thought that a "bassist" was a person who played a bass instrument; not the bass voice.
No, it's actually Terry Weeks, as a guest vocalist, who sings the first verse. Theo doesn't sing lead on this track. Compare the voice in the first verse to the lead voice on the Temps' songs, "Take Me in Your Arms" or "I'm Here" (also led by Terry). You'll hear that it's the same voice.
JoeFlow88 you are absolutely right ,although Terry was not yet a member in his own words #He sang behind the curtain ,before becoming a member of The Temps#

Terry Weeks has got one of the sexiest and smooth voices around! Love his vocals to no end ❤️
Sing Terry and Ali! Two beautiful voices. Love them both. Rest In Love Ali and Melvin ❤️❤️
It had to be hard for Otis to lose all of the guys he started with.
RIP Melvin Franklin

@tempsfan2 Terry was doing a special guest appearance on this recording. He wasn't in the group. At this time, I think he was still a part of the group "For Lovers Only."
Correct, so why is he even in the Title?
Because he's a guest vocalist on this recording and he leads the first verse of the song.
Terry Weeks
was on backup reserve for Ali.
Because Ali was diagnosed with throat cancer during the recording of
“For Lovers Only”,
but he managed to record the whole album.
But he left after it was released.
Ray Davis,
the bass singer who replaced

Terry Weeks came in after Ollie, saw the Temptations with
Otis,Ron,Theo and Harry,Terry was sitting on a stool singing background.
Ray Davis was the bass singer on this song.
Actually Terry Weeks starts off singing lead , and sings throughout this tribute song
No Theo took Richard's spot then Ollie left and they moved Theo up and then Terry Weeks joined
its Ray Davis not Ray Spears, Ray's voice was as deep as Melvin's
Thanks for posting. First time I heard it! Which album is it on?
It was a non-album song that was recorded as a tribute after
Melvin died.
@Ronnafied Really? I thought it would have been Ray Davis because he replaced Blue. Who is Joe Spears?
How is that Ollie and Terry are on the same recording? Terry replaced Ollie, so they were never in the group at the same time. Was Terry doing a special guest appearance?
Otis Williams
Ron Tyson
Ali-Ollie Woodson
Theo Peoples
Ray Davis on the this song. Terry is no where on this song

TERRY WEEKS DEBUTED WITH THE TEMPTATIONS ON Phoenix is Rising.
Terry was on this song to help
Ali as he was battling
throat cancer.
He eventually replaced Ali in 1997.

+Juanita Bethea It's actually Terry Weeks who begins the song on lead. He was not yet a member of the Temps but was a guest vocalist for this song.
Isn't that Theo Peoples who starts out first in the song. Correct. Terry Weeks is no where to be found.

Terry Weeks is actually singing as a guest vocalist on this track. He sings lead on the first verse (0:11 - 1:02).
I believe that’s Theo People and Ali Woodson not terry
correction, i believe that terry took richard streets spot.
Correct
