I love this channel so much, and have been using their recommendations to tailor my own one bag experience, but could the team do a video on the weight of their travel bags? I don't understand how the Digital Nomad packing guide can comply with most plane companies carry on weight requirements?
Watching Tom and Lauren walk through TSA in all black, with sunglasses and masks, triggers my inner gamer instincts for some reason. I feel like a cut scene is about to happen. Also question for the community. Do you guys really find it practical to use both a tech pouch and an admin panel? I feel like tech pouches just bring bulk to what should be a well-designed admin panel.
I have a timbuk2 backbag. I dont use any tech pouch and when I need to travel with tech I just use the bag’s inner pockets. Usually my work trips are quite short (a few days) so it’s def not a digital nomad situation. But I haven’t felt the need for a tech pouch yet
@@luismartins1150I use the pack's built in organization combined with small Ziploc bags. It's easier to keep items separate like chargers, cables and SSDs in different Ziplocs.
@@ccscatenaApologies, usually admin panel are those tech pockets most backpacks have. At least that's how I know them. But totally internal pockets make more sense.
I went on a hunt for the most minimalist sunglasses case and ended up getting one on etsy that essentially is a suede cover that folds over the lenses while the arms are “left out”. My glasses arent entirely encased in something hard but for low key everyday use, they work perfectly and have saved me so much space.
So I like bringing loop earplugs to concerts and the such, but I've found that I don't feel secure with them. I still keep them in my bag as pure earplugs, but I switched to some In Ear Monitors that can unplug from the cable when I want to use them as just earplugs. The ones I use are Shure 215 and I end up using them on the plane's Entertainment system, my switch, or my ipad when I'm hanging out in my hotel room. I have splitters for charging and aux cable for my phone as well so I can actually charge my phone while using these. I love how secure they are and if I want to take them out, I can still hang them around my ears.
My significant other introduced me to loops a couple of years ago. While I don't use them personally she swears by them and always has them in her edc. I use a combination of hero clips and infinity tools everyday. I simply cannot live without them.
Loved this one, always appreciate your suggestions. In the video you show the Session shorts from Ten Thousand, but the link goes to the Interval shorts instead, minor hiccup. Thanks!
Fyi, that Anker charger does not give your laptop the full 140 w. It's 150 w split between three ports. But each individual Port maxes out at 100W. I'm waiting for anchor to come out with the small form factor charger that will do 140 w on one port and also has additional ports that I can use to charge other devices. They do have a 140 watt charger that only has one port. They also have a power strip type thing that will do 140 w in one port and I tend to use that for work.
@@jxirocxmpos you do if you want it to charge at full speed for the 16". If you don't care about charging it fast, it's sensible to step down to a smaller charger. Anker has one that'll do 100 from one port and 20 from another (laptop and phone). This " 150" W one confuses people because they think it'll do 150 from one port.
Tom - What is the t-shirt you’re wearing in this video? I’m trying to find a merino pocket tee with good sleeve length. I tried Unbound, but their sleeves are just too short for me.
Thanks for the video! Friendly reminder to everyone to purchase any of these products directly from their respective company. Please do *NOT* purchase any products on Amazon or other large retailers. @@PackHackerI haven’t travelled with it yet but in just handling it, oh yes, absolutely. The difference is 2.2 lbs., and I'm trying to only work with 15.4 lbs. total, so, yeah, big difference.
The best EDC sunglasses for me are from ThinOptics. They are rather gentle, but nothing beats the VERY thin hard case they fold into. It’s a game changer for sunglasses carry.
The Montbell Travel Umbrella link in your description is for their older model. That version appears to be discontinued as it appears under their closeout section and is out of stock.
Can I add something to your list? About 2-3 years ago I came across the yoga tune up therapy balls. They are a semi soft ball either about baseball size ( plus pair) or smaller . Out of all the various soft tissue products I've tried really allow you to adjust the pressure as you work out sore spots. I'm a professional photographer who travels for work, I'm often carrying a heavy Aer travel bag through airports, holding cameras all day, or working on a laptop. All of which can play havoc on my back or shoulders and traps. These balls take up a small amount space but really work wonders and stop small flare ups from becoming entrenched . The ability to release tension in and around your neck or lower back ( roll out your glutes) is worth a small amount of weight. If you're exploring a new city or say hiking the Camino, get these for rolling out your feet after a long day. My crew all use them now.
for charger, i like the slimq 30w, its really small, covers usb c and a, i cant imagine myself using a branded hat since i lose them all the time for powerbank i use vapecell p2160a, because 6000mah is enough for me ill consider the trimmer you recommend

The Aer Day Sling 3 doesn't have a buckle on the back, its right next to the sling just like the Bellroy
I use a Pelican case for my glasses. The size that I have fits 2 pairs of glasses with a bit of extra space still. I'm just too naturally destructive for anything less protective as a glasses case. 😅 The Pelican 1030 case.
Love the list! Maybe you can look into happy ears earplugs. I just got a pair and they are very tiny and still do a great job to shut down noise. I like them because they create a seal without having to push them as far in as other earplugs while still being very comfortable to sleep in. They also have versions made from recycled plastic. Keep it up!
Id love to see you have a better choice then the bagel. It seams so outdated and with most things going usb or usb c there has to be better options out there. Also i feel like some of the choice are eaither always out of stock on the list or no longer being made like the tom bin mini ghost pouches. Id really like to see a major rehaul of the list or just better alternative listed. As some one who travels a lot for conventions in hotels id love to see more eye on keep your lists updates or assigning other memebers to stay on top of updating things
What do you think is better to do? Travel with a small backpack for your personal item and a duffel bag or a sling bag for the personal item and a bigger backpack?
If you are after the next travel passport and are in Vietnam. Head to Lee and Tee, they make REAL leather one, high quality for $17. Last one lasted me 6 years!!! That cheap rubbish you recommend there won't last two minutes
seems like y'all are running out of new gear recommendations. just feels like you keep trying to repackage and rotate the same gear in and out of every other video. travel tech innovation must be getting pretty stagnant.
I mean, once you have a backpack, you really can only get a bigger one or a nicer looking one. A bigger battery pack? Some sort of tracker, a flashlight, etc
tomtoc Shoulder Bag for Nintendo Switch > anything by Bellroy. 1/3 the price of the Bellroy in the regular sales, and available in a nicer Khaki colour. They also make lots of other decent pouches and cases. Montbell also make better, and more colourful, options for many of the things you mentioned. Don't you get confused with all your pouches being black? And please stop dressing all in black - it's so dull, and you're not a Navy SEAL / SAS operative...
What gear from our updated list are you most excited to try? ✈🎒💻

My go to for glasses is Lensrappa. Doesn't do much for the arms, but protects the lenses very well. Very high speed, low drag. And magnets!
