I love how BATSHIT CRAZY this number is. It has nothing to do with the real themes being explored in the story, it makes no sense, but oh man is it fun. Charlotte is owning this.
I actually love this song but even I have to admit it's hard to believe a song this amped up and loud starts singing about a snack/candy, the again I guess "crackerjack" sounds cooler than "box of chocolate"
I’m sorry but I love this song and think the choreography is great. I mean, it’s terrible but still great from an 80s camp perspective. And the score to this musical is AMAZING. The electric guitars are so amazing and I wish the revival kept more of the score.
The original and the revival are both great for entirely different reasons. Revival is a solid little tragedy, original is a camp classic. I hope one day there’s a revival which attempts to recreate the original as closely as possible. I feel like it would be incredibly valuable for historical and art preservation reasons.
Gays with an appreciation for camp were very ready for it. It's the very inexperienced producer who panicked over negative initial reviews and pulled funding despite the show selling out basically every night who wasn't ready.
this musical could have been amazing :3 It just made some dumb decisions and the critics RIPPED it apart :( there are some great moments in this...but this scene...it aint ome of them XD
Wait a minute, this is the scene where they go out for a pig? This show would work better as a personal piece...meaning solos and duets. Not hideous intense dance numbers. UGH!!!
after listening to it so many times i don't see why this was such a hated song. I guess it doesn't fit steryotipicle Broadway music but still I LOVE it!
I really like this song because I try to subtract the lyrics ^_^ The rewritten Broadway version was a step up but I think with the right lyrics and toned down dancing and more just kind of...Walking? standing?...could make it less more ridiculous?
Pretty muich every song here could use a lot less synthesizerage. Yeesh. That's step 1 in any attempt to salvage any given song here. Also: Less insane dancing.
Good jesus, worse than I imagined. The lyrics are awful. Debbie Allen is doing some type of modern ballet thing where the performers are in a completely different gymnastic position on every beat of the song which makes it difficult to sing to begin with. And the vocals on everyone except Carrie and her mom are awful. Even their stuff is difficult to sing. Like in "Dream On"...why on earth do you give DANCERS a sustained octave jump and expect it to be pretty?
But the lyrics need to be altered, and there needs to be a lot less dancing. And those costumes! For a long time I thought the song itself wasn't salvageable, but then I heard the demo version. It was not bad at all. Then it got way overworked and reached the point you see it at here. What a shame.

Camp classic
I always wanted to see this part!! Thank you!!!
WTF is Chris wearing?!?!? LOL
(Sorry for the double post) But when you turn down the volume, it almost looks like this really 80's version of "All That Jazz".
I agree. I think the company was actually talented. They just were plagued with bad direction, choreography, set and costumes.

@@morganalabeille5004 Kind if like the reconstruction of the original production of “Oklahoma!” they did a few years ago.

I will admit, the lady playing Chris actually has a lot of talent....she just had a lot of terrible direction.
If you listen carefully, you can hear people in the audience chuckling.
I think broadway wasn't ready for it, but now its better prepared.

I'll just say this: thank GOD for the revival
Could someone please post the lyrics to this? It's almost impossible to hear what they're saying.

All I'll say is: thank GOD for the revival
They really shouldn't have hired the choreographer from Fame :(
4:40 was that a pig?!?!?
Wow, I would love a movie version and a revival of this musical. But I'd also like a unicorn, and I don't think I'm getting that any time soon.
Both of those things happened
@@danielfaucett8287 I meant movie version of the musical. Has that happened yet?
I love the revival version of this show!
so bestie how were you feeling in 2012 when the revival dropped?
@@abbby6951 I love it! I saw a production of Carrie in 2019 and it was a 10+ year dream come true!
@@GeekInSequins I'm happy for you!

Is this a Chippendale's show or something?
It's a Broadway musical. Considered one of the biggest Broadway flops of all time.
Because *gestures at video*
I found the demos absolutley amazing.... i loved the demo version of this, why they didn't use that, i have no idea...

is that charlotte d'amboise? um, amazing...
yes

the choreography, the orchestration, the costumes, and the casting are all off...fix that and tweak the lyrics and bravo, a hit!
Terrible lyrics. At least Out for Blood made a bit more sense lyrically.
The theatrical dancing doesn't mesh with the song.
