I've lived long enough that a dress that I could have crocheted at 17-18 is now "Vintage crochet" It's even a fashion I'd have loved back then! Always loved that style. Very feminine.
Hello, Hello, helloooooooo I can’t believe how lucky I am! Just yesterday I decided without a doubt going to crochet my July wedding dress. It’s going to be a beach wedding, and this pattern couldn’t be more perfect❤️ Your new friend from Canada 😊
oh! yay!! , its just a bit short, so if you need to add a bit of length , just add a few extra rows of the 6dc shell rosa before the last 2 rows the skirt part , you have to email me a pic :)
Some vintage patterns seem to need trickery to look good in pictures: pinning together in the back, forcing the edges not to curl when they absolutely would curl, sizing down so something looks fitted but it’s really just stretched. I was looking forward to learning if this is one of them, and I’m delighted to know that the picture was actually honest in this case! I love it.
@Jenny Paxton I just finished- totally totally worth it. Only the shoulders gave me trouble and it's the flip of the sleeve chain thing that got me. Other than that it was easy peasy. Can't wait to redo in a lighter yarn! ❤
I love that you replaced that first chain 3 with a stacked single crochet. That is genius. Thank you for sharing that with us. Definitely adding that to my little play book. lol
This dress is amazing! I grew up in the 6o's and 70's but I don't recall anyone wear a crochet dressed this beautiful. There were a lot of strange, unusual and beautiful clothes in all sorts of styles i may not have paid attention to. There were a lot of just about any lenght skirts and dresses and stumbling thru young child and teenage years was as difficult then as it most likely now. I do remember the clothes I loved and it's possible that many people made have made one and wore it, but most crocheted things I remember were mostly granny squared, and other pattern blankets and I actually made quite a few myself. Another thing popular were shawls. I going to my prom wearing a shawl someone lent me. They went from beautiful lacy patterns to thicker warmer shawls ob and a lot of crocheted bikinis made a worn to beaches.
I had to scroll for miles to get here...I recently had a less foggy brain so I followed this pattern with pen and paper...Australia, a double is a treble, you know...I had a table cloth pattern many years ago, took a while and many failed attempts to figure that out..to the point, I remeber this dress from my childhood, hippy child, loved it then...have it now, twice😊 thank you for making this possible ❤ mum made the snood all those years ago, she cant remember but I do....again thank you. ❤
Oh my gosh, I love this! I think I'm gonna have to make it for my 2 grandaughters for Christmas. Then I will have to find a pretty slip. I just went through one of my dresser drawers & pulled out about a dozen slips. Some only a half a slip. They where so tiny. It doesn't seem like that long ago they fit me. But maybe they will fit them. They are tiny also. Like Grammy used to be. 😅
I am DEFINITELY making this for my sister's hen-do! Her weddingdress is going to be very 70s, so this will be perfect. I'm so excited to start making this! Your videos also taught me one thing: as long as you know how to make a double crochet, you can make anything ~!
Made this with Red Heart super saver in white 2 skeins worth. May have taken a few rows out of the skirt and sleeves. Added tassels to the belt cord. It's adorable 😍! Thanks for sharing this with everyone!
I actually made this dress and it turned out really cute and flattering! I used Peaches and Creme cotton yarn since it’s a summer dress, and I chose to make a bigger size to ensure it would stretch over the head properly. I had bought the pattern a while ago, but your video inspired me to keep going and not give up!!
Thanks for your comment, I’ve been wondering about making this dress in cotton. Are you pleased with your cotton choice? Have you had pilling from sitting? Thanks for any advice you can give me!💚
Hi Stacy. Yes, I think using cotton was a good idea because it's a summer dress, so it makes it more breathable. I think Peaches and Creme cotton is decent for making clothes (definitely not toys!). I have not had any pilling from sitting. The yarn will probably/might pill after a while, like a lot of yarns, but I cannot say how much because the dress I made is still pretty new, and I have only worn it a few times. However, unless you are planning on wearing it frequently, I wouldn't worry about that too much! Also, make a slightly bigger size! I actually bought the pattern from Etsy and I made a bigger size than what my measurements are, because 1. Cotton doesn't stretch! And 2. The foundation chain at the beginning of the project will limit how much the piece stretches. Let me know if you want to know anything else (-:@@stacyvolek3418

So adorable. Thank you for sharing! I’m going to try and do this really soon. Love the last stitch for chest tie. I can give it to my 22 year old daughter. She will look great in it. It’s beautiful.
0:32 Mainstays is a very good quality yarn. I have been using it for a while now. I love it because it's soft and doesn't get fuzzy and the brand has vibrant colors. It also blocks very well. I am planning on buying a steamer for blocking my finished crocheting projects too. I found one on clearance at Walmart. 😊
I love your explanation style, I am working along with you, and your speed is perfect. I would've never picked this yarn myself, but I'm sorry for doubting you. It looks very beautiful. My colors are sane green and cream. My daughter will love the surprise❤.
Oh my word. I love this. ❤❤I live in the Caribbean, and this dress reminds me of one my mom has in an old picture. Will be making this for sure, but I will need to use a light cotton. It's hot😂
I am making this at the moment. I am almost done with the left sleeve. This is such an easy to follow tutorial and I bought the pattern to also follow along. I was a bit intimidated at first but you made it very easy!! Thank you

I absolutely love this channel! ❤ Tysm for saving / reviving historical patterns & sharing them with us! Your instructions are always so clear (especially how you use a needle to point out the exact stitch or leg of the stitch for even brand new crocheters to see exactly what you're talking about)! 🤗💕 Also, thnks for the tip on Mainstays yarn! I've never worked with it 🫣🤫🤭 but I will be checking it out next time I'm @Walmart! 😉😁👍🏻
Wow! Thank you for posting. I purchased this pattern on Etsy and it was too complex of a read for me, can't wait to reference your video and try again!
got into crochet a couple years ago and i was never bold enough to actual figure out this pattern (or other vintage ones) from the pic alone, u are a god thanks
Hey thanks for letting us know how long it took to make. I have an event coming up I would like to make this for and if I can do it in 2 weeks that is perfect!
My granddaughter came to visit me from out of state, I was able to measure her carefully. She loves the dress, wants it in all light blue, size small will be perfect for her. I purchased and downloaded the pattern! 😁
I believe I have the pattern for this. I never got around to making it, due to health reasons. But seeing this video sure stirred some memories of excitedly receiving the vintage patterns my father bought for me as a birthday present.
Hiiiiiii I just downloaded the pattern. I am so happy and can't wait until I read all the pattern pictures, instructions and figuring out what color I want, my size and to watch your video.
Does anyone know how many stitches are in between the beginning and the stitch marker we werent supposed to take out at 12:00 It’s the blue stitch marker
Just for a little added pop, you might make the same kind of chord under the bust, around the small part of the sleeve under the poof of the upper sleeve.
Corrina, that is gorgeous! It would shorten to a pretty top too. I love that the one follower plans to make it for her wedding dress. I hope that she will give you permission to share her pic with us!If I'd seen this pattern when it first came out, I would definitely have made it! I had a hot bod then! Some of my current blouses are longer than my dresses were back then! You show us that even the most daunting patterns are actually easy - the vintage bra, gloves, dress, shawls and your fantastic contemporary poncho! I have a question for you - have you ever met a pattern that got the best of you? I would be very surprised if you answered yes! You are extremely talented! Thank you for sharing that with us. I started watching this about half an hour after it first popped up around 9:00 this morning. When I tried to email the link to myself, It wouldn't work. And when I tried to comment, it wouldn't let me send it. ??? So thank you for re-posting it!
@@justvintagecrochet I'm surprised! Interesting challenge. Do you lose too much stitch definition when you blow up the pic ("assuming" there's a pic!)? Or using a magnifying glass? I'm itching to know what the pattern is! Hope you let us know you've defeated your nemesis when you post the tutorial for this piece!
@@rosemarycreollo4326 when I conquer that pattern it will become a tutorial lol , it’s a super fun and flirty little dress, I just have to keep studying and practicing with it, it uses very vague instructions and wildly confusing charts , after 3 days and 6 attempts, I had to move on for now lol
Hey I just wanted to figure out what I wanted to do after my first scarf and I honestly appreciate the way you’re teaching terminology and how to read a pattern while clearly showing it although you’re really fast for me I appreciate being taught like an adult and not like a kid seeing yarn for the first time I thoroughly enjoyed your video although for a total beginner like me in the beginning of the video a little “reminder” on what type of stitches will be used in this project would be really helpful and easier to learn like a tutorial on what stitches to expect and how to do them just wanted to add my two cents as an extremely beginner crotcheter?
Holy cow, you gained som subscriber, as far as I am right, you had 4000 something two weeks ago!? Glad to see you are growing...it is so nice to watsh you, I like it a lot, even though I have more work afterwards
You my dear are incredibly talented☺️! And I am so glad that I’m not the only one that finds Ted Heart Super Saver a rough type of yarn🤪! Also, I Love This Yarn is really soft too. That is my go to yarn😉
Hello and thank you all the great things you give us about the crochet. I love that dress and I’ll do lt to my daughter. But the yarn she choose is much more thinner than you use in the video. Can anyone tell me what will I do ? Double stitch you start with or triple ? Thank you 🙏
Hey! I'd appreciate it if anyone could answer my question. I have bought a beautiful, dark turquoise yarn for this dress, and I'm usually a size 10/12 US, so that would mean I'd make this pattern in a 14 or 16, but the yarn I bought is light aran weight, it's in-between DK(#3) and Aran(#4), but closer to Aran weight yarn. Should I make the dress a size larger than would be my size(so an 18 in the pattern) with the recommended hook(5mm), or should I make my usual size (a 16 in the pattern) with a bigger hook(5.5mm)? I would buy a 5.25mm hook, as the difference in yarn thickness is not that big, but those hooks are harder to find, and I'm pretty sure they're not available in my country. Any answer is much appreciated! All the best in your crocheting endeavours :)))
@@kathyw141 Hey! It turns out my yarn is much much closer to aran weight than to dk, so I ended up doing a size 14 with a 5.5mm hook, and it's working just fine, but I did have to use a 5mm hook for the single crochet row after the puff section on the sleeve. I honestly don't know what advice to give you, but I have worked with dk weight yarn a lot more often than with aran weight, so I would recommend going up a size, maybe even two, and crochet up until you have the band that goes around the bust, and try it on, see if it's snug enough, that's what I did.

@@shellyvesnovaty6507 You don't know the amount of pain I went through to write this for people's convenience
Finished this today and im so happy at the finished product!
I love your explanation style, I am working along with you, and your speed is perfect. I would've never picked this yarn myself, but I'm sorry for doubting you. It looks very beautiful.
My colors are sane green and cream.
My daughter will love the surprise❤.
Beautiful colors!! And thank you so much 🤗
What a find! So 60’s! I am in love!
Thank you!
Oh my word. I love this. ❤❤I live in the Caribbean, and this dress reminds me of one my mom has in an old picture. Will be making this for sure, but I will need to use a light cotton. It's hot😂
Yes it can get extremely hot so cotton is the best option ❤
Cotton is great, it's a relatively affordable material, natural and easy to work with
@@martamork5858 oh I will
It seems incredible to me to return to something from those years.
I bought this pattern on etsy a year ago but haven't gotten around to making it yet. I LOVEEEE THISSSS!!!
I actually have that exact green and cream as well. I'm making a rustic mosaic throw for my daughter. I love the combination.
I am making this at the moment. I am almost done with the left sleeve. This is such an easy to follow tutorial and I bought the pattern to also follow along. I was a bit intimidated at first but you made it very easy!!
Thank you
Awesome! thank you so much :)
Wow you make red heart yarn look light and airy how what magic is this
Fabulous video. Exactly the right speed, and I could understand your speech. I think I am going to make this dress
Wonderful!
The green accent just makes the dress and finishes it beautifully, I love the cord: so ingenious. Lurinda
Thank you :)
You are awesome! It’s been a thrill to find your channel. I’m really interested by old patterns and spend a lot of time reading on antique pattern library. it’s a lot of fun watching you work through different eras of patterns. Thank you for the inspiration
I just bought the pattern. tomorrow I will play with sizes. thank you.
Haven't watched the video yet but I know this is the first video that I'll crochet along to. This dress looks Beautiful! Looks like I need to get my yarn together

Wonderful!
THIS IS THE FIRST PATTERN IVE EVER BOUGHT! I am so excited to make this dress its gorgeous
Wonderful!! 🤗
😉😁👍🏻
Thank you so much for that ❤️
Wow! Thank you for posting. I purchased this pattern on Etsy and it was too complex of a read for me, can't wait to reference your video and try again!
i just finished it after 4 months of working on it! it’s so beautiful 💕
got into crochet a couple years ago and i was never bold enough to actual figure out this pattern (or other vintage ones) from the pic alone, u are a god thanks

Just finished this dress for my local renaissance fair took me about a week to finish 😊
Hey thanks for letting us know how long it took to make. I have an event coming up I would like to make this for and if I can do it in 2 weeks that is perfect!
I think my granddaughter would love this dress!
Wow I made this in 1969 in orange loved it totally xxx❤❤❤
Pretty. I love the sleeves especially
Your nails look beautiful :) Thank you sooo much for sharing with us these vintage patterns. Youve made this woman very happy!!!
thank you! :)
Yes her nails look natural and chic
Hiiiiiii I just downloaded the pattern. I am so happy and can't wait until I read all the pattern pictures, instructions and figuring out what color I want, my size and to watch your video.
I am going to try to make this in the next four days for my graduation🧍🏾♀️
Making for my graduation too
Does anyone know how many stitches are in between the beginning and the stitch marker we werent supposed to take out at 12:00 It’s the blue stitch marker
I'm from Brazil and I'm loving this crochet class and also this Juliet Dress pattern
Thanks!
Thank you 🤗🤗
Just for a little added pop, you might make the same kind of chord under the bust, around the small part of the sleeve under the poof of the upper sleeve.
Ohhh thank you so much for your video! I bought the pattern and combined the 2 to help me achieve your beautiful dress thank you so much!
LOL! I was writing the details and JUST figured it out! Thanks and keep it up!
44:52 had to bookmark the vid xD currently the second sleeve is coming
OMG!!!! My daughter will love this!!!
How interesting! I like the stitch variation used (sc in the forward stitch of the initial sc) to replace the more usual chain three.
thank you :)
??? So thank you for re-posting it!
yes, 1 pattern so far has me, but im not giving up, just need to keep trying lol, it's a 1972 Japanese pattern
and thank you :)
Funny to come across this, I just finished the juliet dress a few days ago as a gift to a friend!
I did this dress added 2 rows to bottom was still short but love the challenge and wearing my new dress thank you ❤
This is stunning!
I am so happy to find you. I bought a pattern but it was rather confusing. I now can make it!! thank you so so much.
I have this pattern and thought of making it several times but never got around to doing it I always liked it
I absolutely love this dress and this pattern. I can't wait to try it out for myself unless I'm lucky enough to win it!
60's vintage crochet is my love language.
This dress is adorable! You did a great job. Thanks for showing us.
OMG Thank you so so so much. I was going to give up because I couldn't find the pattern but then I am seeing your video.
Thank you 🤧❤️
Holy cow, you gained som subscriber, as far as I am right, you had 4000 something two weeks ago!? Glad to see you are growing...it is so nice to watsh you, I like it a lot, even though I have more work afterwards
woo hoo! thank you so much! :)
That came out fantastic. I know now what color I am doing.
You my dear are incredibly talented☺️! And I am so glad that I’m not the only one that finds Ted Heart Super Saver a rough type of yarn🤪! Also, I Love This Yarn is really soft too. That is my go to yarn😉
oh, thank you so much! :)
@@justvintagecrochet My pleasure ☺️! I also subscribed to your channel. Can’t wait and see what you have decided next to teach us☺️🌸!
Hello and thank you all the great things you give us about the crochet. I love that dress and I’ll do lt to my daughter. But the yarn she choose is much more thinner than you use in the video. Can anyone tell me what will I do ? Double stitch you start with or triple ? Thank you 🙏
Im making this right now to give it to my cousing on her birthday
Oh my goodness! I'm going to need to make this for my daughter!
I'm so excited for this pattern
❤❤please let us know what answer you can find. I am using DK wt. For size small shd I up the size. I just thought I would do a SWATCH and see.❤
@@kathyw141 Hey!
@@alexia1757 thank you so much
@@kathyw141 No problem! I hope it turns out well, have fun making it!
