My dad once wanted to make one of his spare rooms into his personal painting hobbyroom. Then he started looking around the room and suddenly it was all: 'I don't like how the light hits the room through this window.' 'I don't care for this carpet. I'd have to recarpet and who needs that hassle?' 'There's nowhere for the paint fumes to go unless I open a window and then I'll be in the cold. I don't want to have to shell out for proper ventilation.' Basically he realized he'd painted himself in a corner (pun fully intended) and wanted to use any excuse not to do it, except saying the actual words: 'I don't wanna do it'
