Roller contact needs the magnet shifting to the right to stay within the guide lines on the contact

Cheers. Roller has to much play side to side so they have to make sure it’s lined up as it descends

@SFG Security & Electrical: I'm amazed how often the backup battery is ignored in alarm panels especially on domestic properties and some small businesses. It's rare where I live but when a power cut does occur, you soon know about it, all the alarms start sounding. There's loads of system on houses around here, some dating back to the late 80's still in service. The 2 local schools and college are the only premises whose alarms don't activate in a power failure so obviously theirs are serviced.

It’s always been a grudge purchase maintaining an alarm system. They down see what there getting for the money. Unlike when they buy a new TV, golf club, watch etc.

@@SFGSecurity I also think a lot of these alarms particularly those installed in the 1990s and 1980s aren't used most of the time anyway. As these houses have been bought and sold over the years changing owners, they system is simply there as it came with the property, there's loads bellboxes round here from long defunct alarm companies pre dating the millennium. I changed a battery for somebody over 10 years ago in 2011 in panel dating from either 1990 or 1991 and the battery was dated by the original installer and it was the original. It was 20 years old at the time and completely depleted (read zero voltage), the casing with slightly rippled.

Would it have not been quicker to put the galaxy it into walk test while you were "visually inspecting it"

To much noise from the speaker in the reception. Drives them mad.

@@SFGSecurity it probably will, but you can turn off (change) the speaker output while doing walk test.

Interesting video ...might be worth looking into a magnetic strap for your multimeter and a set of croc clip leads.
Didn’t see you take any load readings in quiescent and alarm states ......does the fire panel signal via the intruder signalling ?

Blimey, I left a load out during editing ie. going up to the Siren doing a burt Lancaster Stunt, climbing up shelving etc to check out some hanging cables as its not a very good health and safety practice at my age..
Ref taking the readings on the panel, this was done a month before during a NSI external audit but I only would take the reading every year, during the audit the officer highlighted to the customer what Id said on numerous accasions that the software was outdated and would not give all the outputs to accommodate DP3 and Sia Reporting Protocols unless we started to add outdated items from ebay which I wasn't prepared to do so a few weeks later they got a new Texecom Premier Elite 48 with DualCom DP3, Sia II and a 17ah battery.

Nothing about the fire alarm system is right. Im basically polishing a turd. I would love the customer to let me loose on the system and update unfortunately I have to satisfy the customer. There has recently been a light ant the end of the tunnel and because of recent audits things are getting done. Slowly.

PS your right I didn't take a load test because it would have failed anyway.
