Damn now that was a review! I have a whole collection of Microtech Knives but had no idea they could stand up to that sort of abuse. My brother has the PD version of that knife and said he’s put it through car doors and cut aluminum with it no problem but always thought that was a tall tale until now. You sir earned a subscribe!

I’ve been on the fence for YEARS about getting an OTF. Never could get over the “more working parts = more likely to fail” hesitation. Then I heard about the microtech service personnel program a little while ago, so I started looking into the Ultratech a bit more. This video right here is what got me to hop off the fence and order one. Thank you, it arrives next week.

Wow,I’m absolutely blown away..I always thought OTFs were really cool but more of a gimmicky toy than a highly functional knife..you put this knife through things I wouldve only done with a fixed blade..It was crazy enough seeing it batoning through a 2x4 but then being shot too..now I understand why these knives are so expensive

I know that MicroTech knives were tough, but I always just assumed (sorry Jason) that you had to be gentle with the OTF knives and that the could not take the rough stuff. I'm wrong. I held my breath when you drove the knife through the board like a nail! Unlike Michael Leon, I have no doubt that the video was genuine. I'm impressed with the knife and your testing. Shooting the blade was the icing on the cake! Thanks for taking the time to test, shoot, edit, and post!

I have always thought that knifes that open up like the knife you are reviewing had weak locking mechanisms that when used to try to pierce something a bit hard the locking set up would let go or break, but watching you pound this knife into a block of wood at the 4.30 min without the blade retracting tells me that these knifes can take some punishment without the locking mechanism failing. Rick you were blowing hard there for a while , I think XRing needs to whip you into shape with some more running in his next video. Cheers 🍻

this is a great knife (i own the same one with a tanto blade but all blacked out) but to say the blade suffered no damage after being shot is a ridiculous claim, at the very least the edge is not going to be as sharp in the area hit. i also find it rather convenient that the footage cut out right before he could function test the knife for the last time, leading me to believe that some lead or copper jacket might have caused friction while operating the mechanism, therefore causing malfunctions that they probably would rather leave out of the video. not saying this is what happened, i believe this is a great knife and it is very strong, but i also understand how companies market a product to their consumers, and when a knife malfunctions even though totally reasonable in a lot of knife abuse scenarios, isn't a good look for brand image, especially when your knives are so expensive (relatively speaking).
