- So I think we have discovered why the engine won't start in the Caddy. See what it is in this episode.

The high oil level may be a sign of diesel in the oil from the failed dpf regen attempts rather than overfilling. Worth checking.
dont teach youtube mecanics
@@emilysuvac8243 I don’t. Was just suggesting a possible cause based on my experience.
Might be a good idea to do injector leak off test it's really common on those for the injectors to over fuel causing rise in engine oil
Only got to 6.00 mins....you can't prime fuel on the key you need vcds etc to prime the pump....Will now continue watching to see if you do the above......could the oil be over filled because of a leaking injector, leaking fuel into chamber and then running down into the sump 🫣
These diesel engines are a lot easier to start after fuel filter change (or fuel system repair) if you use VCDS (or whatever you have of test equipment) to activate the in tank fuel pump for filling the fuelfilter and lines......UA-cam has several videos on that topic......
Impressive fault finding skills.
Thanks
You could of just swapped the sensors on both ends as bit in the middle is a lump of metal.
Good detective work Dr Paul.
It was misfiring like hell once it was running. Unplug cyl1 injector as thats more than likely the cause for it. It had fault codes for cylinder 1 injector in the first video. Clean the egr and run a dpf regen to see if that will clear it up after doing an oil/filter change
thankyou Paul..a great project, looking forward to the follow ups,👌👍
Bet of luck Paul I know you’ll sort it out no problem 👍
Patience of a saint, mate ! Well done for sussing it ! 👍
Thanks 👍
I had same fault, was a couple of injectors forcing too much fuel in, no fault codes, new injectors, been fine for over a year.
The silver disk near the gear stick I am quite sure is for a Dallas key. We have them in our vans. It's basically for a fob to log who's driving
Good to know 👍
Possible that it’s had turbo failure and filled the DPF with oil so will need turbo recon and a DPF clean to remove oil from the DPF 👍🏽
good luck with it
Should have bought a new part! couldn't help myself!
Bless up
Hi Paul, you may have already watched his vids but Pine Hollow auto diagnostics dies a lot of crank no start fault diagnosis .. so evacuees are mind blowing!
this video clearly illustrates the limits of the obd tool, egr blocked, egr fouled, engine oil overfilled, exhaust blocked....yet no engine codes.
10:12 Pretty sure even a new filter would look like that when it's been in 5 mins. At least its accessible, unlike most diesel filters.
Be careful you haven’t got an over furling injector
Im not sure how much it helps but i always syphon off dirty diesel after removing old filter, i insert the new filter and replenish the bowl with fresh fuel it may not of made any difference to the difficulty in starting but it would eliminate any chance of an air lock.
I rekon too many failed dpf attempts hence the high oil level. I had a mazds 5 that did the same thing
I really hope this isn’t a case of fuel dilution Paul.
Would it be worth doing a compression check as well ?
Modern diesels. All the emissions control stuff took away the point of them existing in the first place. Thankfully they will completely die out over the next decade or so.
The cayc engine is very prone to diesel in the sump which raises the oil level.
You have to be careful as these engines runaway with themselves and end up running on own oil to destruction unless you manged to stall the engine.
Dpf and egr and injectors are all problematic on this particular engine.
Waiting for the map out the egr and gut the dpf comments lol
Take of the intake pipe to the turbo and check for play or broken axle. All the oil must come from somewhere. For me that stuff looks like engine oil. Not so much as dieselfuel. My bets are going on a damaged turbocharger.
The sensor you took out that you mentioned was an egr valve was actually the lambda prob, just so you know what part to order.
Could be overfill because someone put too much oil in it, not necessarily the person who serviced it.
Also could be over filled because of failed regens. (Diesel in the oil)
I failed turbo wouldn't cause the oil level to rise, it would cause the oil level to be low, you would find oil in the intake system and dpf.
I always get my sensors wrong, and even though my head was saying lambda sensor, my mouth was way ahead of my brain 👍😀
No worries, just watching your next video now.
Cr engines dont prime off the key
Bad injector they are renowned for failing injectors. Also oil dilution due to failed dpf regeneration.
Fuel filter may or may not be the cause, but should have probably looked at the fuel filter before replacing the fuel rail/fuel pressure sensor and fuel pressure regulator.
I replaced the fuel pressure sensor because the same code kept coming back after clearing it. the minute I connected the new one, the code went away. It was the state of the engine that made me check the fuel filter.
that was at least not running on one cylinder suspect faulty injector thus reason overfull oil which is sump full of fuel .. smoke looks unburnt fuel disconnect power feed to injectors one by one stopping the engine each time ,,ps do not reconnect plugs with engine running as you could hydrolock it ,, this will give a quick indication of what cylinder injector faulty ,starting point .no wonder the exhaust is so blocked drop the dpf run wynes or jml through it blast steam cleaner might save it, least get it to run
Whoop! Like #70!!! Hit that button people!
🙏👍
elementary my dear watson lol
More Clickbait, a blocked EGR is hardly a "Bad Engine Problem" but well done for getting me to watch expecting something major to happen again
Odd how all the arm chair mechanics out there advise you to buy new parts but do they ever email you and ask for an address so they can send you the new part they feel you need?
