Ya there is big difference in a license and a degree. The degrees took years to gain while actively practicing before you get a license. A license means he completed everything nessacery to practice. He had a license. My brief is when the show started it was safer to not have a license because he could get sued as a licensed professional. It was smart to drop the license as it that point it was more of a hindrance than a help. Not having a license doesn’t minimize his expertise. It just protects him from unfounded lawsuits.

Doctor Phil is a lot of things. He’s arrogant, condescending, overly critical of new ideas he doesn’t understand, and he’s entirely too comfortable creating a spectacle for which to gawk at people with various mental health conditions. Be that as it may, Phil McGraw is a real doctor, as in, he holds a doctorate degree, and he always will. His career does not “begin and end with Oprah”. He had a career as a practicing clinical psychologist for years before his tv debut, and even for a few years after. He no longer has a *license* to practice clinical psychology. Whether that’s for disciplinary reasons, or because he simply declined to take the necessary steps to renew his license due to the apparent success of his tv show at the time, that’s a conclusion for you to come to on your own. His former career is literally how he got his show.
You seem to believe that he’s just a regular character actor who happened to answer a casting call, and he pretends to have a profession that he has no formal or professional knowledge of, and no involvement with. That would be an egregious case of fraud, deception, and nearly impossible to pull off. The man has clearly studied and practiced psychology for some years. Even if I don’t agree with most of his opinions, his education and career history can’t be taken away from him. If you think all of his knowledge is just a script he memorized, that’s quite ridiculous and absurd.
Phil McGraw does have the right to use the title, “doctor” in reference to himself, as he has earned his PhD. Whether or not that can be considered misleading to the general public is debatable. Many people don’t know the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist. That’s unfortunate. If those people assumed he was a physician (MD, DO, etc.), even though he referred to himself as a clinical psychologist, that really isn’t his fault.
But honestly, you could have googled this before you decided to post it on the internet and mislead god knows how many people. Even simply skimming his Wikipedia page would have given you all of the relevant information regarding his background. Phil McGraw is a lot of things, I most certainly don’t care for him, but he never lied about his background. Y’all just never bothered to learn about what you don’t know.

What makes you think that what you see aired is all the contact there is? Those segments are made over months. Besides, he doesn't actually diagnose those people. There's no diagnosis of "Loser in Mom's Basement" in the DSM-V.

How could Kimmel NOT have asked this question. (And no reasonable person would expect any honest other person ever to say anything favorable to say of Trump because there IS nothing favorable about Trump.)
Very unethical for any professional to even make a comment on anyone's mental health without an actual thorough medical examination. No professional does this in any country.

If you want a clinical psychologist listing out Trump’s mental health issues, then go read Mary Trump’s book. She is Donald Trump’s niece and a clinical psychologist. In her book, she lays out Trump’s mental health issues giving examples going back to his childhood.
A doctor has a responsibility to professionally and thorough examine a patient before coming to a conclusion. And in that case, must consider patient-doctor confidentiality.

Early in the turd's first presidency, doctors were unwilling to diagnose the turd as unfit due to the "Goldwater Rule" but now thousands have in a written document as they have seen his behavior for so long. McGraw is doing the reverse of the "Goldwater Rule" by accepting his lies and not calling him out for the fantasy POV he operates in.

I'm not sure how you really gauge impulse control without being around that person quite a lot. I have very good impulse control over what I eat, not buying something, not having that next drink that might push me over. But, if you get me angry enough I have a lack of impulse control. So if you only knew me by that time you pissed me off you might think I have an impulse control problem. But if you see how disciplined I am with not taking that extra bit of drug like sugar or alcohol, or staying off social media and my phone, I have above average impulse control.

I don't know if he could get in trouble, seeing he is no longer has his license or is certified or wants to be sued, but a lot of people in the mental health field who are psychologist, psychiatrist therapist whatever have determined 45 to be unfit for the presidency because of his dangerous diagnosis of malignant narcissism. An example would be the book "The Dangerous Case of DT". The feel it is their duty to warn the public of this potential danger. Phil looks to be vague and waffling.
