This whole reformation has broken my heart. The new one can’t even compare. Now, I’m glad to hear you have some solutions 😭 the OG has been my HG for so long and I was telling everyone how mad I was 😅
I know it’s only makeup but I’m so bummed 🫤 that Givenchy decided to change the formula when no one asked for it! It was a beautiful, perfect powder! Nikki is right about the La Prairie skin caviar loose powder. My mom has used both powders forever so I’ve always loved my number 3 Givenchy powder and my Mom always gives me the mini powder that comes with the big powder. It’s pretty much the same powder in my opinion. I still have one extra mini Givenchy powder in 3. Thank you so much Nikki for pointing out that not every shade of the new reformulated Givenchy powder has shimmer in it. I haven’t watched any reviews pointing that out! Wishing everyone a happy day ❤
YES!!! I completely agree about the LM under eye powder... I was also going to mention it!!! I feel like it is quite similar to the OG givency in texture under the eye.
hey Nikki!! I just wanted to so thank you for all of the hard work you put into your video! you are honestly of my favorite UA-camrs to watch because you are honest and so authentic!! I have learned so much from you! you are amazing and such an inspiration🩷🩷
@@carolhern IT was out there I literally commented this on every big make up YT channel including this one that in the Europe it wasn’t available since very begining of the year - they took it from the shelves literally and told us in the stores that Givenchy is reformulating. We could find this only online and not on every page or not in the some shades as time passed.
This change in formula is going to get me back to my prior favorite powder, which is Pat McGrath’s setting powder. I still have plenty of the old formula of the Givenchy. But, that said, it is worth going back to McGrath’s powder. It is lovely on aging skin. She often does 30% off on her website, which I see is currently happening for anyone who was ever interested in trying her powder. I hate that these brands are continuously changing favorites formulations for so many of us. We all understand they are trying to be more “green” etc. But, like the title says, this one’s gonna hurt! We will ration what we have left! Thanks Nikki for another well informed video!💐🌟
I bought my two Givenchy powders from Sephora and was unaware I’d bought two shades that had been reformulated. I’m disgusted by that. Sephora did not state the formula had been changed. Wasted money on two shades. Never again. Made my skin look terrible, highlighted pores and imperfections I didn’t know I had. I’ll take what UA-camrs say from now on with a pinch of salt. The Givenchy powders were expensive, and were awful.
I got the OG a few months ago, per your recommendation, and I'm SO GLAD I've been rotating between the original and my Huda powder, because this new formulation is straight up highlighter.
The Sisley loose powder is almost identical to the original Givenchy powder. I first heard about it from Mel Thompson's channel years ago. The shade Irise is the same as the Givenchy 03.
Now I know why I was not so blown away after purchasing this product! Influencers have been raving about it forever; I finally bit the bullet and bought it, not knowing it had been reformulated. On me, the powder seemed to settle in fine lines - and yes, with a slightly icy shimmer. Bummer! I enjoy the Huda Beauty much more, as well as the Westman Atelier translucent pressed finishing powder.
Hi Nikki! I saw a tik tok creator say that the chanel loose powder is a dupe to the givenchy! It’s still expensive but it has a lot more product! Can you try it and let us know?? I only trust your opinion ❤
If you have oily skin Lancome translucent one is lovely as well Chanel is great and in RL this pink under the eyes IMO does not look good. Or the banana yellow.
I’m glad to see a thorough review with info behind the change and alternatives; instead of click bait shocking reactions only because at the end of the day it’s make-up folks. Champagne problems…
I'm so glad that as soon as I heard about the reformulation I immediately purchased a full sized #3 powder in the original formula. I'm pale with a cool undertone and it works well for me. I hate that companies do these very unwanted reformulations!
I don’t know why anyone would be mad at you for recommending powders in a higher price category-that seems absurd. I’m so grateful for all of the recommendations. I went last week to my Sephora and bought the very last of the powder in my shade. They only had the one 😢
Maaaan I’m so glad I bought two before they reformulated. I did read that they pulled it off the website, so hopefully they are going to revert to the old formula.
Thank you for bringing up that not all shades have additional shimmer. Angela at French for a Day has mentioned that the Blanc Divine powder, with a white lid, still has talc in it and is comparable to the 02 original powder. For those outside the US, the compact version still appears to have talc in it, although it is slightly different as a pressed powder instead of loose.
I bought Blanc Divine, it's good, but with added shimmer. And this powder is very perfumed. I also bought the new formula in lavender and it's just awful. 😢
The new RMS loose powder is fabulous! Especially for mature or dry skin. I am not a powder gal at all but I find this one to be wonderful, even better than Huda. I found the Huda to be drying on my 53 yr old skin.
Hi Nikki. I'm so sorry that you don't have your original Prism Libre powder anymore. I've not tried either powder, but I won't use talc on my face. As a more mature woman, talc has always dried out my skin. That's just my opinion. Givenchy should keep both formulations in my opinion. I personally love the Hourglass loose powder and you got me hooked on the Kosas setting powder. I don't want a shimmering powder either, nor do I know of anyone who does. I hope for your sake and others, that Givenchy brings back the original formulation. ❤❤
They actually have Blanc divin - comparable to the old Satin blanc 02. I never got this yellow and Pink under the eye thing I always want translucent. I am also against the talc now it seems not really the best option to put or inhalale. It is a dirty mineral that on its own had concerns and a lot of time it is contaminated with other stuff from the mines.
If you are in Europe or get your hands on Douglas Products in the US too try the new Douglas loose powder. It feels like you apply something wet to your face but it mattifies and blurrs like a dream.
I just bought Givenchy Prisme Libre powder in shade 2 a week ago and I did not like it because of the shimmer. I was surprised because my expectations were high after all the great reviews at your channel. Now I know it’s the new formula and it was wrong timing for me to get it
I just bought a mini and thank goodness it’s the old one!! I saw your video and thought oh my goodness, but I lucked out! Thank you for all of your advice and input. You’re terrific!!🌹💄
I have dry textured under eyes and i have been so impressed by the new RMS hydra powder. It is so bluring and hydrating! I think it looks better on me than givenchy 🙈 and i also felt like the chanel powder is also similar to the givenchy
I LOVE Nikki’s Joy’s setting powders. The pink one is so pretty on my skin. I have dry skin and just turned 50 and the South Tx heat and humidity require powder 😂
@@melissaz6778I also happen to have Nikki Joy’s pink and like it. It’s completely matte but not drying. It doesn’t have the subtle sparkle that Prisme Libre has in their old formula. I don’t have Huda’s pink one so I can’t compare and recommend one over the other if we’re comparing top tier pink powders.
I was waiting for this one! I went to buy this yesterday on your recommendation and started reading reviews about the reformulation and was disappointed (not to mention the product was completely sold out 😂). Then today this pops in my feed! 🎉
Have folks seen that the powder has been taken entirely off of the Givenchy Beauty website and currently Sephora has it as sold out for every shade? I think something's going on.... FINGERS CROSSED (though it won't be putting talc back in...)
I noticed that too. I can’t believe how fast they removed it from their websites. I don’t think it was out even for a week before getting pulled. If they can still have it be talc free and get rid of the shimmer, people will buy it again.
Thanks for making this video for us, Nikki!🤩👍❤I really like the original Givenchy powder, now in shade 3, winter shade 2, but when my more dry sensitive skin gets more dry, i only want my Suqqu Oil Rich Glow Loose Powder. Further i love the Cle de Peau Loose powder, shade 2, and the Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Natural Lighting Powder. There is more than Givenchy! And Nikki also gave great options, don't know all of them, but good alternatives i think, she knows all powders! This will be hard for Givenchy Beauty. Maybe they bring it back, i still have enough powder, also from them. And when my skin is less dry i also appreciate the Danessa Myricks loose powder.
Damn. I'm finishing another powder first but I was going to buy this as my next one in the next Sephora sale. I'm glad you warned us! I get why they did this with the talc but agree i have products with talc, eyeshadow especially, and it just blends so much better and faster. Im trying to avoid buying new products with talc but using up what i have that includes it (from the brands i trust--not all talc contains asbestos)
Nikki, I bought this powder “the original” on your recommendation and am so glad I did. I am certain that if they have had a boost in sales, it most certainly was driven by your teachings of its super powers. I really hope they will see your video and the public outcry and consider changing it back. It has been a godsend to women over the age of 25. I know they removed the talc, but I think what is truly appending is they are trying to capture the youth market. Four young faces always looking for glass skin, they probably thought this would make it more popular. You know, the more sparkle the better. LOL!
Bought a few when they announced the reformulation was coming because THIS was what I dreaded…so many companies fail with their reformulations. Thank you for the review!
Me too! My daughter went to Sephora yesterday to purchase the Givenchy powder because she had run out, I think she bathed in it, and they didn’t have it. She ordered it on line not knowing about the reformulation. 😮
You need to try By Terry powder! It’s the most blurring finely milled powder I’ve ever tried. I use the original translucent one but I think I’m gonna pick up a coloured one next.
Thank you so much Nikki for offering the talc free information. I am completely talc free for more than 5 years with my makeup and I really appreciated the attention and information you gave it, as well as the suggestions. Love you!
Nikki, PLEASE check out the Moira setting powders and tell us what you think. They have similar shades as the Givenchy and come in pressed or loose. I would love to know how THEY compare and if it would make your list as a good alternative. Thanks and love your content!
another loose setting powder that might be worth comparing is the DOLL TEN loose setting powder. They have a light pink and it has lots of positive reviews
Please do examine the new Makeup Forever powder; interested in your thoughts. The link of talc to asbestos is a consideration. Cosmetic talc has been tested since the 1960s and found to contain between 0-30% asbestos. Then we see in the news there is no reason to worry.....we never know who to believe. Sad. The fine milling of the powder with the talc does make a difference in the look, as you pointed out. Thanks for exploring this topic.
i have quite a few loose powders but i have the old givenchy formula and don’t use it often because i have oily skin, but because of the reformulation i have to use it less even more now😂
If it hadn't been for your insta video, and folks discussing the reformulation, I would not have been able to jump in and buy a couple extra of the old ones!!! It happened SO FAST!!!
I have the original Givenchy and love it and save it for special occasions and events. I have the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Setting Powder in 2.0 Banana and love how it looks on my skin and this is the one I use everyday.
Ok so I work for Sephora and today the representative for Givenchy was here I expressed my dislike and disappointment of the new formulation and she explained that this new formulation is not meant to be used like the old formulation. So setting under our eyes is not want this powered is meant for it’s supposed be put on with a brush not a puff and it’s more of a finishing powder which still sucks but if you put it on like it’s supposed to you should still get that blurring and matte look with a slight simmer. I tried it the way she showed and it’s truly beautiful the main downfall is not being able to set under the eyes but from what she said the brand is moving in a different direction and want their products to be more skin like. I hope this helps anyone that has gotten the new formula and is able to use it as it’s meant to.☺️
Why can’t they just offer one with talc one without talc if that’s what’s making the difference. Give customers a chance to buy the glittery one which they’re not going to or the old formula. Were all going to die eventually anyways put the talc back and take the glitter down we’re not in high school.
Thank you so much Nikki! I am super late to the makeup game so I only bought the original Givenchy mini..it is so wonderful on my mature skin. I will enjoy it while it lasts but based on your info, I will be moving on to something else.
Don’t know if this will help anyone but the kvd lock it loose powder and the fenty loose powder both have talc in it and are great to work with. I believe fenty has minis as well. I just hope they don’t alter their formulas as well.
I am with you on that🤗 I actually don‘t see my undereyes „shimmering“ in daylight. Was checking that area constantly but nothing to complain about😄 so I like it and will continue to use it…
The By Terry in far nicer on my dry, mature under eyes than the Givenchy. Both the loose and the pressed work beautifully and they both come in travel sizes.
How odd that not all of them have shimmer 😮 I’ll be going back to my favorite Japanese powders - Ko Gen Do and Suqqu - and I’ll give Huda a try at long last , my daughter loves it. Thank you Nikki! Sighhhhh ❤
@@Hzleyedgurlbcs they all will have to change. Talc is on WHO cancerogenous list and I mean not talc contamined with asbestos.
Wishing everyone a happy day ❤
For mature skin (under eye) Laura Mercier secret brightening eye powder wins! Also Ami Cole is fantastic! Just discovered this one! 🥰
YES!!! I completely agree about the LM under eye powder... I was also going to mention it!!! I feel like it is quite similar to the OG givency in texture under the eye.
100% agree, I love it.
I actually prefer using this product under my eyes and use the Givenchy Prisme Libre all over my face.
@sarahpenz3739 YES! I'd rather use one power, but my undereye area is too dry, so it's the only way I do powder.
The Lottie London powder is fantastic!! I got a sample somewhere having zero expectations and one morning, I just threw it on and was WOWED!
hey Nikki!! I just wanted to so thank you for all of the hard work you put into your video! you are honestly of my favorite UA-camrs to watch because you are honest and so authentic!! I have learned so much from you! you are amazing and such an inspiration🩷🩷
Oh my gosh, wow thank SO MUCH!!🥹🥹❤️🙏🏼 I’m so thrilled you have learned from my channel!! Thank you for watching and supporting!
Oh no! This 54 year old is panicking!!!! Thank u for the video and your time! Hey Mitch!
Same. I wish I had heard before so at least I could of bought two while I was looking for an alternative.

IT was out there I literally commented this on every big make up YT channel including this one that in the Europe it wasn’t available since very begining of the year - they took it from the shelves literally and told us in the stores that Givenchy is reformulating. We could find this only online and not on every page or not in the some shades as time passed.
Also 54 Google’d my shade to find anyone selling on an old post that hasn’t heard yet and jacked the price to $130 like everyone on Mercari
@@pinagrrrr2280 I missed it!
Not endorsing any sites FYI just in panic mode
They have pulled the new formulation from Sephora. But I did get the old formula from Stylevana with a discount so it’s on the way.
Yeah :( I checked with their boutique, they also pulled out the old one. I thought living in asia didn’t effect it, but they did 🎉
Thank you for this comment. I went straight to place the order.
@@beatrizsandoval4395 same here
I bought my two Givenchy powders from Sephora and was unaware I’d bought two shades that had been reformulated.
@@rebthirteen8012 I say return them. They will understand. Is not your fault Givenchy reformulated them.
I think that the best dry skin friendly powder is RCMA. In my opinion, it's perfect if you have dry skin.
Yes RCMA is bomb and NEVER talked about anymore...😔
The Nikkia Joy pink finishing powder is very very similar as well. I was testing them for my wedding and they were neck and neck.
Hi Nikki! I saw a tik tok creator say that the chanel loose powder is a dupe to the givenchy! It’s still expensive but it has a lot more product! Can you try it and let us know?? I only trust your opinion ❤
I think chanel works better if you have normal/combi/oily. I have dry skin, it’s a bit drier thus I still prefer givenchy
Yes forgot used to have Chanel. Forgot, Ty must check the products in back if drawer… if I can open. TY!!!! ✌🏽
If you have oily skin Lancome translucent one is lovely as well
Chanel is great and in RL this pink under the eyes IMO does not look good. Or the banana yellow.
Welp. The algorithm did me right today. I was just about to buy this powder after remembering how much you loved it.
I’m glad to see a thorough review with info behind the change and alternatives; instead of click bait shocking reactions only because at the end of the day it’s make-up folks. Champagne problems…
I was so put out. I emailed Givenchy with my disappointment!! 😢. I have several backups, thank goodness!!!!
@@barbaramiller7057 have they replied back?
I’m have the mini and I’m almost out and was actually considering making the full size purchase. I’m so happy I’m watching your video
I'm so glad that as soon as I heard about the reformulation I immediately purchased a full sized #3 powder in the original formula. I'm pale with a cool undertone and it works well for me. I hate that companies do these very unwanted reformulations!
The education you provide in your videos is just top tier! I just love your videos.
Thank you for doing this review. We all appreciate your honestly and helpfulness in options to choose if we don't want the reformulated powder.
Thank you for this reco! I felt the same about Huda in my mature dry skin. ☺️
@@pcssc2634 you’re welcome. ☺️
You are so right about talc. It is a dirty mineral, and highly contaminated. Thank you!@pinagrrrr2280
If you are in Europe or get your hands on Douglas Products in the US too try the new Douglas loose powder. It feels like you apply something wet to your face but it mattifies and blurrs like a dream.
Nikki, have you tried the Chanel setting powder? If you haven’t can we get a review on that powder please.
I just bought Givenchy Prisme Libre powder in shade 2 a week ago and I did not like it because of the shimmer. I was surprised because my expectations were high after all the great reviews at your channel. Now I know it’s the new formula and it was wrong timing for me to get it
This reminds me of the reformulation of the La Mer powder several years ago. There are some things that really shouldn’t be changed.
Since you know the powder well. If I’m fair, should I get 01 translucent instead of Nikki’s recommended 02?
@@ibsunshinesu6011 La Mer is a different brand than La Prairie.
I have been meaning to try the RMS one. thank you for the recommendation!
It makes sense that it clumps or looks chunky, a finer milling will actually make the particles stick together more.
I LOVE Nikki’s Joy’s setting powders. The pink one is so pretty on my skin. I have dry skin and just turned 50 and the South Tx heat and humidity require powder 😂
I like her powder too. I haven't tried the pink though.
It hasn’t been taken off from the European website, what’s going on?😢
Thanks for making this video for us, Nikki!🤩👍❤I really like the original Givenchy powder, now in shade 3, winter shade 2, but when my more dry sensitive skin gets more dry, i only want my Suqqu Oil Rich Glow Loose Powder.
LOL!
This was my absolute holy grail powder for minimizing texture. It was like a filter!
Bought a few when they announced the reformulation was coming because THIS was what I dreaded…so many companies fail with their reformulations. Thank you for the review!
My favorite Laura Mercier #1 and Hudda #2. Thanks!
Noooooo!! 😭 I've seen a few reviews so far but I've been waiting for yours the most. Damn. I bought the OG because of you lol
That truly hurts. 😢The only powder which did not emphasize my dry and mature skin. I've still got a little bit left over😌
Me too! My daughter went to Sephora yesterday to purchase the Givenchy powder because she had run out, I think she bathed in it, and they didn’t have it. She ordered it on line not knowing about the reformulation. 😮
Nikki I promise you! Try the Lunar Beauty loose powder in pink and in translucent!! IT IS THE BEST. Hands down.
You need to try By Terry powder! It’s the most blurring finely milled powder I’ve ever tried. I use the original translucent one but I think I’m gonna pick up a coloured one next.
Another goody. They updated a lot of products in a good way. By Terry! Exc line TY! I think we all have a lot of makeup lolo! Habit?
I think the Ciate Extraordinary Translucent Powder in Brightening Pink is super nice and it’s very affordable.
I have really dry under eyes and love the By Terry and Face Atelier powders.
i have quite a few loose powders but i have the old givenchy formula and don’t use it often because i have oily skin, but because of the reformulation i have to use it less even more now😂
If it hadn't been for your insta video, and folks discussing the reformulation, I would not have been able to jump in and buy a couple extra of the old ones!!!
I hope this helps anyone that has gotten the new formula and is able to use it as it’s meant to.☺️
Hi Nikki .. could you please try the channel loose powder and give us your thoughts.. they say it’s even better than the Givenchy
Did Givenchy change their mind because its no longer available on the website or at Sephora
Ami cole has a great loose powder too!!!😊
Don’t know if this will help anyone but the kvd lock it loose powder and the fenty loose powder both have talc in it and are great to work with. I believe fenty has minis as well. I just hope they don’t alter their formulas as well.
Nikki, please try the new RMS loose powder and the new Tower 28 pressed powder. Also, have you tried the By Terry loose powder?? 💜💜💜
Loved the by Terry for years! Didn’t love the RMS unfortunately but the new tower 28 is fantastic!!
Just ordered MOB in pink, can't wait to get it! Thank you as always, Nikki!!
I love the new formulation of this powder!!..🤷♀️ But in my opinion nothing can compare to By Terry hydra loose powder ( colourless) 🤩
Been thinking about buying this one for a while. Is it long lasting and smoothing? non drying? my undereyes are very needy 🥹
@ivar3150 Try the By Terry Hydra loose powder(colorless) it smoothes and blurs like no other powder and is not in the least drying!
Me toooooo! I have very fair skin though and dry skin so maybe that's why?
How odd that not all of them have shimmer 😮 I’ll be going back to my favorite Japanese powders - Ko Gen Do and Suqqu - and I’ll give Huda a try at long last , my daughter loves it. Thank you Nikki! Sighhhhh ❤
This reformulation is gonna cause a RIOT lol
Sames…already happening. It was there best selling product. Why would they change? Lolo!
@@Hzleyedgurlbcs they all will have to change. Talc is on WHO cancerogenous list and I mean not talc contamined with asbestos. There are lab studies on the animals and cells and mechanism, there are cohorte and case control metaanalysis with statistically significant data. People are more into this clean and healthy lifestyle since the covid also they have Blanc divin with talc that is the OG Satin Blanc 02
Ooh! Have you tried Lunar Beauty loose powders? Very finely milled and lightweight too! I love them!
No Pat McGrath? Or the Fenty matte? i love both.... thank you for doing this video!
I don't consider myself as a "clean" makeup person but thank you SO much for mentioning and identifying talc as an ingredient. That one is a personal consideration for me. It is not easy to find talc free powders: loose, contour, bronzer, blush... It is so helpful that you broke the products down here for talc or not (I'm in the lucky group that never used the original Givenchy powder). You have been indispensable in upping my makeup game! I hang on to all your performance opinions for makeup products! Thank you for all you share. Big fan!
Been waiting girl!!!
I agree with you and I’m crushed. I also think the new formula can get a little cakey. It’s just harder to work with. Thanks so much for giving us some other options!❤
I don't understand the manufacturing methods... if something has worked so well and is being recommended by the best makeup artists in the world, why on earth change the formulation?!!!! All they could have done was keep the old formulations and just add another item (in this case powder without talc) to the line?
Since watching this video, I managed to get a back up of the old formulation in the HK Sephora sale!!! Happy happy!
Been waiting …really hurts ur right
Never tried the Givenchy sad I didn’t get to now that they changed the formula. 😢 thanks Nikki for the breakdown! You’re such a inspiration ❤❤❤
Rodial has a 'glass' powder that's really nice. I never hear people discuss the brand Rodial. 🤷🏼♀️
I think that the by terry powder its amazing too, you just have to use it sparingly to avoid the white cast.
OMG! Where can we find the old powder to buy? I had a feeling this was going to happen! Why do brands do this? Why can't they leave a good product alone?!🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤯😡
I just bought an old version on Mercari lol
My heart immediately broke for you when I heard they reformulated
I hope that they will fix it. I am sad.
I am with you! This was so uncalled for!
We should have a choice.
I agree
I’m so bummed!!! That was the BEST powder ever!! 😭 now I understand why I don’t like the reformulated Makeup Forever powder foundation!
Thanks for another great video! You’re awesome 🩷
