Probably the most balanced and objective commentary I've seen for a while, especially coming from a credible, 'mainstream media' (especially given that it's based in Hong Kong, where voices can go to either extremes too easily). And yes I agree. As I think Dr.Mike said, the origin of the virus and who's responsible for what isn't important now, as the pandemic is still going on, the focus should be how to deal with it. The investigation of who's responsible probably should come after this, and even if we can reach any conclusions right now, it should not change what we should be doing and how it should be done as of now, not to mention that we should not diverge those precious efforts now. And looking at China and the US, it appears that there's much more room for cooperation, if politicians on both sides want to. For example, the race to develop drugs and vaccines seems to have made significant progress in both nations, as well as maybe elsewhere around the world. And the value of cooperation is beyond description. For example, clinical trials need large and diverse sample bases, and what provides anything better than having an international pool of experimental subjects? And looking at China and the US, it appears that there's much more room for cooperation, if politicians on both sides want to. For example, the race to develop drugs and vaccines seems to have made significant progress in both nations, as well as maybe elsewhere around the world. And the value of cooperation is beyond description. For example, clinical trials need large and diverse sample bases, and what provides anything better than having an international pool of experimental subjects? Also, by communicating and updating each other on latest results, both can benefit from reducing redundant work, etc.

@@IMRLYGUD usually don't mind him, his got a dry sense of humour that's genuine. But this one is a bit too high brow, international unity? Come on, the Hong Kong health care sector in parts were selfishly striking when this all started and try to capitalise on it as an extension to last year's unrest. I guess I am more discriminating against the network than the individual in this case. Still better than Sky Australia, RTHK and the American networks.

Ale Sh lies about what? The CCP didn’t lie. The county level authorities made a mistake of not taking the doctor’s advice seriously because they thought it was a common flu. They didn’t jail the doctor they thought he was spreading rumours so they asked him to sign a declaration that he will not do so further. So they definitely made a mistake but they didn’t lie. China has taken unprecedented efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus and as a result the new cases in China is going down.
Meanwhile in America even your president was spreading lies and rumours that the coronavirus is hoax. The American government had two months time to prepare they didn’t, now they will suffer.
I think we should scrutinize equally. With everything.

Peddling conspiracy theories is a tale of the 'tragedy of the commons' whereby if the other guy does it, you have to do it too or else you lose.
