PLEASE READ: One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that it actually "recovers" the time rather than just reducing it. Look carefully at Kemo I in the video. Even if the ability is at or past the global, it will still reduce to zero and fire immediately. You don't lose the time you spend waiting for a proc. Also, there are some rummors that some abilities are over-proccing it (ones that tic). I avoided those in my testing, and the math is the same regardless. The ability is good. It will be the meta soon. Don't believe anybody saying otherwise. Unless Cryptic nerfs it, this version is insanely strong.
Maybe Cryptic wanted us to move away from AuxtoBat builds and try new Engineering Boffs, like the new Boarding Party, not to mention different duty officers.
@@mdredheadguy1979 the great thing about gaming is the essence of challenge and overcoming it. I agree. My main sci toon (who has IPO) may end up not using the Boimler trait so I haven't unboxed it yet. Mind you, it would still free up a Lt/Lt Com boff slot ...
I upgraded from my arbiter (which I've had for years) to the Inquiry. It totally changed the way I play the game. I've also just got the Boimler trait and going to test it on my half aux-to-batt/PO build. Hopefully, I can get rid of the aux to batt BO ability and also free up 3 duty officer slots.
If you haven't watched lower decks, you really should. Not only is it great, it will help you get Boimler's name right. I apprciate the in-depth breakdown, and has me wishing I had 200lobi. This is a godsend for particularly science captains who miss out on the A2B technician doffs.
I have 12 toons. They all have decent builds but 7 I regard as mains so I just bought 7 copies of this from the exchange. It's about half the total EC I had but something that frees up doff and boff slots is huge.

They bumped it up while the lobi sale was still going on to earn a bunch more sales from people giving it great press and then once they've gotten enough people that dumped their event prize lobi or chunked open a bunch of boxes to buy a few copies they'll nerf it back down. Have you done any calculation on the intervals that it does active? I'm very interested in how often it generally activates from its previous activation.
But what is my photonic officer replacement going to be? And should i get it before the must have lobi consoles (the 3 from MC-Stu's video) or after that? AND whats the best way to get lobi, probably LBs but how do i get enough EC/Zen for keys and which LBs should i open then?
Question, did I hear you right? At about 1:15, you were saying people don’t need aux to bat, then something about a Kragen? Or did I misunderstand what you said?
OK, this is news to me, great news!!! Question, how do you set up your hot bar to where your powers trigger automatically? I have been hitting them manually and its a pain!
On the subject of chance and probability, what is the likelihood that this trait is deemed by the devs to have too high of a chance and they decide to drop it?
The chance of this trait proc'ing came out the box at 2.5% chance, but was buffed to 17.5% chance on the Sept. 16 update. I got to pick it up and test it out on my main character and the proc is quite consistent. Might also be a bug, but I noticed that it also worked with my Miracle Worker BOff abilities.
@@redwren4182 it's a cool ability... But it shouldn't just outright replace A2Batt or Photonic Officer builds... There needs to be benefits to each ability sets.
Dropping the cooldown of an ability down to the local cd, which is 50% of the reactivation time. So if the skill has a 30 second cooldown, the trait proc would drop that down to 15 seconds afaik.
Yeah, it's definitely a bit of a mouthful to pronounce the name correctly. Honestly for me he's one of the best characters on the show though. If it helps, You can break it down phonetically like Boym-ler.
IMO other cooldown reduction methods are still contenders, for the simple matter of price. Aux2batt is a classic for a reason, it's a free cooldown reduction method. Technicians are free from one of the nebulas in Beta Quadrant. Half-batting is also a thing too, especially with photonic officer. And improved photonic officer is something you want for epg and healer/support builds no matter what. That's not to say I disagree with you. I think this trait has a lot of promise - especially for something like half-batting. You won't need to full-batt if you have this trait slotted. Or another possibility is making passive cooldown reduction more of a thing. Otoh, it's still expensive, and I would be wary of getting it because they can always nerf it in the future even tho they buffed it after the last patch.
Half-bat feels like too much of a footprint to fill such a small discrepancy. I could see PO1 being used though if you are particular about 100% coverage. I personally think people are making too much of the inconsistency on builds that aren't using less than 10 non-spec ability. I might be wrong though.
Sounds like you'll be putting too many resources into too many different things. If this new broken trait remains as game breaking as it is, you'll never benefit from aux to batt, assuming you actually have an efficient build needing to use all boff abilities as often as possible. Save your three technicians and add something of value. Or keep them and pray this trait stops breaking the game.

If they nerf it *now* or in the future it better not be too much of a nerf or it will piss people off, and Cryptic have been pissing people off recently. They need the playerbase happy.
