Thank you for uploading this. Personally, I think Castle Mall is a work of genius. Probably one of the last great urban development projects. It was bold and imaginative. Two qualities that no longer seem to exist in 2023. The usual Norwich Numpties call it the White Elephant, but they have probably never had a creative thought in their life. The skills of the men that built it are to be applauded.
It looked allot better before they redesigned the main entrance and changed the name. 30 years later it’s like a ghost town inside now. In my opinion we never needed 2 shopping malls especially when they’re so close together.
Inter that since the opening of Chapelfield Mall, the Castle Mall has pretty much died a death and needs a real sales plan to make it challenge the popularity of Chapelfield Mall.
I agree with u, i rember the excitement of the castle mall opening. It’s sad that it’s mostly filled with charity shops and empty units now. I’m not sure if the food hall has reopened since it was a vaccination centre. I’ve not been in for so long. The only original shop left I think is Boots oh and possibly vision express. Everything else has either gone bust or moved into chapelfeild and then gone like The Disney Store and Build a Bear.
@@Tiggysmum Apparently, the food hall floor is having an 'exciting new makeover', so watch this space - ! But as it's a separate floor, still unconvinced it's going to work. 🙄
@@Tiggysmum gamestation has sat empty for over a decade and there is no food hall now. It’s sad especially when as kid the place including the food hall was absolutely packed. People had more money back then.
@@underneonloneliness2 But the developers knew that Chapelfield would have a much higher chance footfall because of it's position along St.Stephens and it's also used as a cuthrough to the market areas. Castle Mall is on an edge which folk pass on their way to the 'main' city centre. 😐
My family goes back in Norwich to at least the late 1800s. I still live here. My dad helped build the Castle Mall. So very interesting
Thank you for making available.

Lived in Germany with the RAF as Castle Mall was built, seemed strange coming back to Norwich and finding the mall fully open.
So odd to see it like this
Why is this unlisted? Can you make it public so I can search for it properly please?
I've set it as public now
Enjoyed!

Chapelfield is becoming the same though. Chapelfield should’ve never been built. 1 mall was enough.

😍
the flood they just cant admit
You what?
its a bit brutal
I don’t mind a bit of brutal in a city. I miss the old malthouse carpark next to the old nestle factory which got demolished.
That mall was a waste of time. Best they fill it in.
