Thomas Sowell gives the facts and history and Dr Williams offers brilliant illustrations of the same concepts. The two complement each other. In Africa we have yet to see such liberties as an average American takes for granted. Rules, licenses and high taxes are our order of the day.
Libertarians will have to do a better job of selling the notions of freedom. I think this is more critical now than ever. Our country is under siege and needs help.
You need to practice critical thinking - just because Walter Williams speaks at CATO doesn't mean he endorses everyone who funds them. Just like if a Black Panther organization donated to the Obama campaign, does that mean Obama is racist? What if Storm Front donates to Ron Paul, does that make him racist? Saying that "oMG iSn'T CATo funDED by the KoCH BROS?" is ridiculous. Listen to people speak and don't judge things on trivial surface data.
That's a classic straw man against libertarianism. Libertarians do not favor 'robber barons' and there is absolutely no kookiness to Ayn Rand - she is simply taken hugely, erroneously out of context. She was for helping people based on voluntary cooperation, not the initiation of force. Capitalism is based on individual rights and a limited government role of only protecting individual rights - no bailouts, subsidies, exemptions, immunities, limited liabilities, monopolies, etc. Please read.
@godkung: yes, Cato is a Koch brothers institution. Libertarians have some okay ideas, but as long as they allow robber barons to latch on to them, and as long as they stick with Randian kookiness, they can't really be taken seriously.
Walter is always a pleasure to listen to. His logic is interspersed with humor. We need more scholarship like his!
As per Mr. Williams talk, the title should be libertarians with a small "l". Great speech by a great man.

You are correct, fellow South African.
One of the brilliant minds of my lifetime
Great video. Thanks.
He actually reminds me a lot of Milton Friedman.

This is a very interesting idea.
