@@mogrosset6058 yeah but it'd take 2 seconds to tell him or move it to the right fridge. I believe at that point they had a fridge for every few contestants but she left the next episode. Official word was she had to leave due to personal/medical reasoning but unofficial word is she was booted after video evidence showed she purposfully pulled his out and left it there.

If he had acted like a mature adult and presented it anyway, explaining the situation, I doubt he would have left the competition. The woman was clearly in the wrong and extremely selfish, but he made the situation worse.

Something never talked about; EVERYONE had melting ice cream that day. No matter who took his out of the freezer or how badly it was melted, Iain didn’t handle it well at all.
He did put it in her fridge and it was only out for a minute. The editing made it look like it was her fault

Diana really acted unbothered by taking his ice cream out of the freezer. I don’t think she meant to sabotage him but she could’ve been more apologetic and at least attempt to comfort him. On the flip side the producers should’ve stepped in and given him the extra freezer time as well in the case of the stolen pudding. It’s a freaking show and it doesn’t have to be filmed chronologically. Just put them last to be judged and give them the exact lost time to fix the mistake. It’s not their fault even when the hosts fuck up their bakes they should be given the lost time to fix them. It’s not that serious.
Now, I agree with that. I think the judging is harsh sometimes. I saw that episode & felt for him even though he chose to dump it.
The ice cream wouldn't have been the same after being refrozen but I agree :(

Ok the pissing Bingate! The issue wasn't that she took the Alaska out, it was that she didn't tell him about it so it could be transferred to another freezer immediately.
@Matt S Nah editing made it look a lot shorter than it was. He likely could've stayed in the competition had it frozen correctly or at least set a lot more than it had. That was one of the warmest days in the tent and he got screwed over by that
There were also complaints that the fridges used in the tent were picked for their design, not their quality or ability to say... freeze ice cream in weather that gives Frosty the Snowman nightmares.

@@pleasemurderme8312 Look at the other nine "disasters" on this list before it. All of them were mitigated and fairly understood by the showrunners and producers. Diana, whether or not it was her fault, clearly had done it accidentally, just like Deborah in the #2 example. But it was Ian himself who threw out his work without enough time to make anything else. Other people served complete messes. Ian threw his in the trash. His overreaction wasn't Diana's fault, and I think the amount of shit that poor, sweet old woman got from the public is really, truly unfair.

I agree. I saw that episode. And the portion viewers saw made it look like he was much more gracious than I would have been after the way she acted when he noticed what had happened.
number 1 still makes me mad*--they said the lady who took out his icecream had to leave the competition after that for "health issues" or something but i think she get disqualified...you dont take someone else's stuff out the freezer...

That made me so mad that SHE didn’t get sent home for doing that. It was massively dirty of her to do.
what she did was definitely wrong and her health issues were unfortunate I was horrified by how people reacted. many people (including myself) came to the same conclusion as you. however people took it way too far and harassed her and her family really badly. in the end she had to get her doctor to announce that she did actually have a medical condition for leaving the show.

number one definitely had three best points, 1, taking the ice cream out the freezer 2, him presenting the bin to the judges instead 3, that lady leaving the next episode for 'health reasons'
Diana had a fall and suffered a head injury that affected her senses of taste and smell, 2 things kinda essential for a baking competition. Whether one feels this is bad luck, cosmic justice, or karma, is another matter.

I came here from Netflix to express my utter detest for Diana right now. Then she says, “well you have your own freezer don’t you?” Why wouldn’t you ask the room who’s ice cream it was if you needed space? Or use a DIFFERENT FREEZER? So disrespectful. She never even apologized, and poor Iain had to go home. They got onto him about tossing the baked Alaska but nobody said anything about how rude it was to just remove his ice cream and leave it to melt.

When dorret said it's not just a cake I felt that. I'm a baker and every cake I make is not just a cake, it's a representation of us and our reputation is constantly at stake. If we fail at something it reflects on us forever.😰

Then after all that drama, she claimed to be sick. I always believed the guilt of the incident literally ate her up inside. So she was unable to return to the show. Die Hard fans know that this was the poorest expression of common decency. Sadly, well never know how far Ian could've goon😢

John didn't put salt in the dough. The rum baba recipe requires that the pans be greased and coated in sugar, and John had used salt by mistake in the outer coating.

Dianna should have been launched for removing Ian’s ice cream from the freezer. Ian should have been allowed to stay. Sabotaging a contestant should be grounds for automatic dismissal.
