I won't lie I wasn't happy about it at first but after watching his tape and more importantly hearing him speak in interviews I like it. I know we had more pressing needs available but all I'm saying is give him a chance

I had to make it make sense. So I watched some of his film. He fast, quick, explosive, and athletic. Productive. Though no neck issues in 3 years that’s a good sign. He doesn’t move like he’s had a neck injury.
Can you imagine all of the Irsays agreeing to this? They were all probably like, "Chris, did you overdose on a wagon of Wisconsin cheese"?
Because he took the best graded defensive player in the entire draft?
It was a surprise pick, but may end up being the steal of the draft
Honestly, I didn't like any of the pass rushers in this draft... I never trust Ballard when it comes to drafting DE's. .
Which means you should love this pass rusher.
Latu is the exact opposite of the past Ballard edge draft picks.
Wish we took Quinyon Mitchell, but to be honest I wasn’t too happy about it for a while but now he’s already growing on me. Hoping he’s a stud and can’t wait to see what we do tonight

Lot of ignorant arm chair GMs that don’t know football. First, you don’t draft for need. That’s when you make mistakes. You pick the best player on the board. That’s what great teams do. On the defensive side of the ball, pass rusher (DE) is THE most important position. The top WRs were gone, we tried to trade up for them, the Raiders and Seattle tried to trade up too. NO ONE WAS MOVING. The Colts got the best rated Defensive player in the draft. The best PFF graded pass rusher since 2014! Is this what we were hoping for? No, but that’s because most didn’t see it as a possibility. The CBs continued to fall, the other WRs would have been a reach at 15, based on their value. This was a great pick and I’m willing to bet Latu is DROY in 2024.

Eric, Latu said that the Doctor that told him to retire NEVER PHYSICALLY EXAMINED HIM! He also played Rugby during this period.
Playing devils advocate…it’s hearsay. I did watch that interview. I think his medical concerns are behind him but it’s just crazy that he had to medically retire. He will be good to go!
I mocked Latu to the colts with a trade down w the rams on April 19th 2024 , this whole off Szn I was so big on the offensive train or cornerback round1 but the last week or two b4 the draft I had a feeling colts wanted edge most . Colts did try trading up for offensive weapons like bowers, odunze id assume or Nabers but the draft played out perfectlyyyyy I mean perfect to strike gold with Latu at 15 and AD Mitchell at 52!
We can have to many pass rushers if we don’t have any defensive backs !

Guess what all the receivers are flying off the boards now wtf are we gonna do in the 2nd and 3rd

@@thecoltscastexactly. That was one of the talking points about this draft and i think it was something Ballard really believes in. You can get star receivers in the second and third, plenty of teams do.
Latu will prove his worth in season one. Let's face it, our defense needs help. The Colts gave opposing QBs way too much time in the pocket. I am sure C. J.
Stroud isn't happy about this pick. Think about that.

I don’t think any CB’s in this draft is as pro-ready as Laiatu, or however his name is spelled.
This pick makes zero sense for the Colts. They don’t need anymore Edge Rushers, especially this high in the draft. I would’ve much rather seen them trade up to get a dynamic playmaker on offense. I also would’ve been okay with a CB, since they’ve completely ignored that position so far this year. This FO seems obsessed with DTs and DEs.
EDGE is arguably a top 2 position of importance. Just a few months ago we were after Danielle hunter for a reason

You go with a player who’s about to turn 24 years old and already has a major neck injury; This was a TERRIBLE pick 😐 people are talking about his “great” stats in college but go back and look at the players and teams where most of his power numbers came from? And he played in the PAC-12, you can’t be serious. Again this was a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PICK.

Again it’s not about “sleeping on him” it’s about his HEALTH
Its a bad pick. This a pick you make if your a contender like the chiefs, not a team like the colts with below average offensive talent.

Terrible pick. I absolutely hate that we wasted this pick on this skinny defensive end with tons of injury concerns. Instead we let Jaguars land Brian Thomas JR. Ballard needed to be fired 3 years ago. Irsay do not let another day go by that you are paying him to ruin this team
I remember you Levis fan remember I got my AR pick. Levis is trash like I said he would be by the way. Now to the point Latu is the best elite pass rusher in the draft which we have needed for years. He is also a pick Ballard never makes at the position. He has only had one injury. Being a person who has had a fusion you can be at 100% when you put in the work it's not as dramatic as others make it sound. Brian Thomas jr was not the best player on the board at pick 15 and Ballard tried to move up for Odunz and maybe even Nabers but it did not pan out. And bowers was not needed. Facts are there are still 3 of the top 10 WR still available and there are top tier CB still available what's running out is OGs but we may need a C to. And finally those who want a safety there is no star starter who will fix any back end issue you all may think we have. Bishop may be the best safety available.
@Coltsfan421 I don't know who you have me confused with. I never liked Levis nor did I want us to draft Richardson. I didn't care about Bowers because we have like 3 good TE's with Woods, Ogletree, and Mallory. I don't like the skinny Latu in the big leagues. He won't be better than Ebukam or Kwity. Dayo is going into year 4 too looking to improve his numbers. I just didn't feel the need for a DE when you paid Ebukam and still have everyone back on the D line. I wanted Brian Thomas JR so he can be our WR2. The top receivers left and top 10 CBs will be gone by the time we get to our 2nd pick. Ballard sucks. And I can't stand when people really try to act like he has been so great to our team

@@mikeymendez7060 hes PFF's highest graded defensive player in this draft. if the neck injury never happens he easily goes top 10 in this draft. PFF has him rated much higher than aiden hutchinson and will anderson & those guys went top 3 in their respective drafts.
