@Truth Lives or he has a weird sense of humour. I grew up on friends but I don't find that stuff funny. I find things funny if they're funny. Brainwashing only works on the weak and followers. So you cant put that on everyone that watches a show that probably billions know of
The difference between the Big Bang Theory and Friends is that Friends without the laugh track is funny with an awkward silence. The Big Bang Theory is just one long awkward silence.
@@daraghokane4236 I disagree, I know a lot of people, including myself, who grew up watching shows with the laugh track and have got so used to it that they don't mind it. All this talk about "being programmed" are you a fucking computer or is your brain that small?
I've never found Friends particularly funny even _with_ the ample assist of a laugh track, but this is _still_ 100% funnier than The Big Bang Theory without its laugh track.
Nah BBT is still funnier either way and has actually somewhat relatable characters. Granted it's still only 3/5 material but it's better than Friends' 2/5 at best.
I guess that's technically true. Not a Hugh bar at all tho, sitcoms are some of the only shows where I actually realize I am never going to get that time back
pacing seems off, but when you compare it to Big Bang Theory you really see the difference in both line-delivery and comedic timing, there's enough subtle expression, movement and good delivery to make friends work regardless. whereas Big Bang Theory just feels dead.
And also based on previous circumstance and dramatic irony for the audience. Like you have to know the context from the rest of the episode and previous scenes to get the jokes. Kind of an odd choice for an experiment like this.
rorz999 the comedy of friends relies more on the context than the laugh track. You have to actually watch the show because it all ties itself together; a lot of the jokes are built on material from previous episodes
+DaFuqMan Yeah, I've been watching season 1 recently and I noticed that sometimes the laugh track messes up emotional moments. (Season 1 in general was a lot heavier, I'm realizing - I guess as the show went on, it got away from that). There are a few times in the early episodes where a character says something that's probably more deserving of an "awwwww" moment, but instead you hear laughter, which just kind of makes it seem like the 'audience' didn't get what was really going on. It'd be nice to watch friends without a laugh track, but you'd need to edit the show quite a bit so that there weren't these awkward pauses. It'd probably give it a feel closer to Arrested Development or something, with jokes coming in so quickly you might miss some of them, but that'd be kinda cool.
+Joponyhere if they made these knowing there was no laugh track it would have been a smoother transition between the dialogue. I know you know that but just saying. This is definitely weird. It'd be cool to see them act knowing there is no laugh track and compare.
It make me feels in that scene how "uncomfortable" is Chandler(and the actor?) with is "dumb" friend Joey, who seems a lunatic, since Chandler is more earth-grounded and neurotic. If you see that way, in a real situation in a public restaurant, I would be real uncomfortable being both of them hehe.
Well they tape a scene like a million times so they pick the best laugh plus if u can't hear the talking over the laugh then they pick a machine to play a quiet one
yea i saw a behind the scenes thing, and in it, jennifer said a joke and the audience laughed and you couldnt hear the rest, so the put in a machine laugh so t would be quiet when she talked.
Its a real audience but they are prompted to laugh by cues - which is why they laugh even after several takes obviously - i hate audience laughing whether its canned or not
...you're an honest idiot, aren't you? You've never been to a filming, have you? They tell you before shooting starts that when the sign lights up you HAVE TO LAUGH. Even if it's not funny. You can't honestly think show's go with JUST a live audience's laughter. Naivety at its best.
I think Friends is a funny series. But taking out the laughter track makes these characters seem much more tragic. I would love to be friends with someone like Phoebe. But in the no laughter world, I think I would avoid her. She causes awkward silences, and none of them see the funny side.
Actually the thing is there is so much pause for laughing track in between. Just remove big pauses between the dialogues and see the show still is funny not awkward
Ken Harris similar characters does NOT mean same show. It means it plays on certain common traits. Bbt is terrible. Friends is still good and always will be
Yeah, the only off putting factor is the wait times. This is a solid scene of jokes that bounces between all of the characters. It's still funny. Unlike TBBT where it seems like they are just horrible to each other and the jokes are so bottom tier comedy.
@@rindoubaka1574 If you don't see the difference then that's on you. There's no bias here. I love sitcoms and have watched a lot, majority with laughtracks. @@wiictvchannel1112 Wait so you think appealing to some sort of authority on sitcoms based on experience makes you right about this? I think the Big Bang Theory is funnier than Friends. Mostly because I don't really think Friends is funny whatsoever. I'm not really a fan of subjective analysis but comedy is the ultimate form of subjective entertainment. Hence why you think Friends is funny regardless of the laugh track and I think Friends is dull regardless of a laugh track at well. My point being, both TBBT and Friends are horrible without a laugh track. To claim one is actually fine whereas one is terrible is simply coming from a place of bias.

The pauses here are the actors playing off the live audiences laughter
TBBT has live audience, too.
There is no such thing as a show based off of laugh track,,all Sitcoms are in front of live studio audiences but they add laugh track to cover up takes edited together, otherwise the laughing would be inconsistent.
Becuz friends is a better show
" _I'm drunk right now!_ " that one actually got to me. The rest was so stale I found myself actually repeatedly checking the timestamp going "is it over yet? this is the longest 2 minutes and 52 seconds of my life"
The laugh track is playing in my head just at the right parts.
1:48 guy in the middle is me watching any episode of friends
The laugh track is the most basic level of brainwashing and conditioning.
WOKE lmao. laugh tracks are added by the fucking directors, not the evil gubment. they're in place for where a live audience would usually laugh. they just want to make us feel like we're part of a live audience. it goes way back and started because sometimes jokes weren't understood by the entire audience. but no, the comedy directors want to brainwash and condition us...into laughing. evil af. jesus man. settle down
@@superduperjew it's all part of Satan's plan. To make us laugh at everything...
@Truth Lives that has what to do with laugh tracks?
@Truth Lives All those things are funny, and I'm tired of pretending they aren't
@Truth Lives or he has a weird sense of humour. I grew up on friends but I don't find that stuff funny. I find things funny if they're funny. Brainwashing only works on the weak and followers. So you cant put that on everyone that watches a show that probably billions know of
This is the most awkward thing I’ve ever seen
big bang theory without laugh track is far more awkward than this. well that's just my. opinion.
This show actually has a pretty serious tone.
I am thinking if one adds a laugh track in my life then would definitely look and feel more appealing than it is. ❤️
Dementors gotcha feeling down?
This feels like “close proximity acquaintances” the show
Big downgrade 🥺
Friends is actually better without the laugh track. Especially Phoebe.
That was weird.
indeed, you had cheers, friends, seinfeld, home improvement, family matters, who shot with live studio audience
I agree. Phoebe is fucking awesome. Dark as
When she said “I’m already drunk” I laughed out loud even without the laugh track
Lisa has some superhuman delivery.
This is like real life without the laugh tracks 🤣
Matthew Nance t...that’s the point
@@jcl418 why would anyone turn their laugh track off?
Man I think you need to meet a psychiatrist if you hear laugh tracks normally in real life
Real life is funnier
Dude the point of these videos is that the laugh tracks aren't there to show you how awkward these scenes are, how abnormal, non-life like they look
2:26 the pause and how they just stare at each other 🤣
😂😂😂
The Phoebe and Joey characters are very weird with out the laugh track.
davesgk that was always the point of their characters tho. Random and out of nowhere.
In some bits I think it could work. Like with the drinking joke at the end, that pause is very believable.
Phoebe seems to make me laugh out loud the most.
@@Bruceybaby2009 I was in highschool in the 90s, so I understand the premise of the show. It's just very weird and not funny with the cued laughter.
both phoebe's jokes still work honestly
The difference between the Big Bang Theory and Friends is that Friends without the laugh track is funny with an awkward silence. The Big Bang Theory is just one long awkward silence.
Wow this ones still kinda funny
Nope.
AyyGin: I try to not conflate pathos with humor.
Friends is always funny
Nah it ain’t
Fuck this show...
I was laughing so I sounded like the laugh track so I laughed. Wait....
Okay but the ‘it’s a buffet, man’ was actually funny to me lol
This is scary.. imagine what we've been programed to laugh about
So you only laugh because of the laugh tracks and not because a joke is funny
I have rarely ever laughed at any show so that's fine with. e
We have been programed to hate laugh tracks but no music foe setting a tone
@@daraghokane4236 I disagree, I know a lot of people, including myself, who grew up watching shows with the laugh track and have got so used to it that they don't mind it. All this talk about "being programmed" are you a fucking computer or is your brain that small?
You laughed when a laugh track played ? Weird...
Actually, not that bad. I think the awkward pauses by actors are meant for a laugh track. If they acted 'snappy' it would be better.
***** Fast
That's exactly what I thought
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is a good example of snappy
Thank you, Captain Obvious!!
Phoebe: I’m drunk right now
Everyone: 👁👄👁
I can still hear the audience laughing in my head
Me too.
I've never found Friends particularly funny even _with_ the ample assist of a laugh track, but this is _still_ 100% funnier than The Big Bang Theory without its laugh track.
Big bang theory is unbearable to watch without the laugh track, hell even with the laugh track it is not funny at all
@@4CelciusDegree It's a Chuck Lorre show. They're all horrible.
Nah BBT is still funnier either way and has actually somewhat relatable characters. Granted it's still only 3/5 material but it's better than Friends' 2/5 at best.
@@4CelciusDegree It's unbearable to watch with one as well.
I guess that's technically true. Not a Hugh bar at all tho, sitcoms are some of the only shows where I actually realize I am never going to get that time back
pacing seems off, but when you compare it to Big Bang Theory you really see the difference in both line-delivery and comedic timing, there's enough subtle expression, movement and good delivery to make friends work regardless. whereas Big Bang Theory just feels dead.
because none of the actors understand the jokes they are making in Big Bang Theory
A2Z83 I don't think the writers understand those jokes either.
@@A2Z83 what jokes?
Both are filmed with a live audience and the pacing is just them waiting for the laughs to stop so they can say the next lines
It's partly bad because without the laughing there's just empty space - it doesn't flow naturally.
That's the point, without it, it shows how unnatural and surreal this all becomes.
No but when laughter fills those gaps it's less obvious there's a break in the dialogue. This video exaggerates the problem
That's the whole point.
Tim James that’s the point all shows with laugh tracks have long pauses like thos
this*
Thank you for that. That was really an eye-opener. Without the fake laughter it's SHIT!
It’s not bad, it’s just entirely structured for the next joke.
Chandler Whitchurch but that’s the thing they are not really jokes, just witty conversation.
And also based on previous circumstance and dramatic irony for the audience. Like you have to know the context from the rest of the episode and previous scenes to get the jokes. Kind of an odd choice for an experiment like this.
rorz999 Lol Seinfeld is easily the greatest sitcom of all time, it had a laugh track. Laugh track doesn’t equal bad, it’s just an old format.
@@rorz999 eh its better thn big bang theory, still watchable
rorz999 the comedy of friends relies more on the context than the laugh track. You have to actually watch the show because it all ties itself together; a lot of the jokes are built on material from previous episodes
It's not bad without the laugh track! I found myself chuckling. The pauses are weird, but that's to be expected.
Yeah I think the pauses make it awkward but still funny
Look like family guy, during flashback
It's pretty bad.
lol " we were just talking about bacon"
"no we were talking about tennis, tennis is more believable"
HahahahHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHHA
Pretty sure it's "baking" not "bacon"
The awkward silence is funnier without the laugh track for that particular joke
I feel like watching these videos of sitcoms without laugh tracks before bed is going to fuck with my dreams
i still laughed at the Chandler Joey interaction.
And Phoebe 😂😂😂😂😂
It make me feels in that scene how "uncomfortable" is Chandler(and the actor?) with is "dumb" friend Joey, who seems a lunatic, since Chandler is more earth-grounded and neurotic. If you see that way, in a real situation in a public restaurant, I would be real uncomfortable being both of them hehe.
Then you have a condition.
Too bad, it’s not funny
ExplosiveRage72 1 Humor is subjective, you tool
It goes from sitcom to soap opera 😂😂
I felt like that was a good description of Friends in its last few years.
This makes me appreciate even more Malcolm in the middle.
Wait a minute, why the hell is this so wholesome lol 0:27
Friends isn't a laughing track it's a real studio audience.
Yes, but I read somewhere that episodes with multiple parts had recorded laughs. However all other episodes laughs were real.
Well they tape a scene like a million times so they pick the best laugh plus if u can't hear the talking over the laugh then they pick a machine to play a quiet one
+John Simkins They mix real laughs with canned laughter to fill in gaps. If you watch more episodes you start to recognize specific laughs.
yea i saw a behind the scenes thing, and in it, jennifer said a joke and the audience laughed and you couldnt hear the rest, so the put in a machine laugh so t would be quiet when she talked.
LMFAO I HATE THAT FUCKING LAUGH! It's the same one you hear on How I Met Your Mother. They need to ban that laugh from any other show, ever.
Pheobe and Joey are great even without it. But yeah the pauses are unnatural without laughter so.
There is real laughing going on from the studio audience so the pauses are just them waiting for the laughs to stop before the next line
Its a real audience but they are prompted to laugh by cues - which is why they laugh even after several takes obviously - i hate audience laughing whether its canned or not
If they keep the first take and the laugh drowns out the characters lines they’ll shorten the laugh in the edit
not really. In real life people need a second to think about things too.
"I'm drunk right now" yeah that got a laugh out of me
Actually lol'd irl at Lisa Kudrow's delivery of "I'm drunk right now"
It’s just miserable people being rude to each other
The only difference between a removed laugh-track from TBBT and Friends:
Friends is actually funny.
Actually the only difference is that TBBT doesn't have a track.
...
The same guy who uploaded this also uploaded TBBT with no laugh track.
Nice try though.
Like I just said, TBBT doesn't have a track. It's a live audience.
...you're an honest idiot, aren't you?
You've never been to a filming, have you?
They tell you before shooting starts that when the sign lights up you HAVE TO LAUGH. Even if it's not funny. You can't honestly think show's go with JUST a live audience's laughter.
Naivety at its best.
***** Being told when to laugh doesn't make it a track, though. It's still live.
I think Friends is a funny series. But taking out the laughter track makes these characters seem much more tragic. I would love to be friends with someone like Phoebe. But in the no laughter world, I think I would avoid her. She causes awkward silences, and none of them see the funny side.
Friends isn’t funny
@@garrythomas492 You shouldn't have bothered watching the video then.
@@Laffy-ix5xy he said it twice lol
@@yeokonma Who said what twice?

Without the laugh track you realize how dysfunctional the whole group is
That why "The Office" is my favorite sitcom.
phoebe is absolutely everything in this scene
not "everything"
@@iknowexactlywhoyouare8701 lmfao
still pretty funny, much better than Big Bang theory
Saying Friends and BBT are the same show is one of the worst things I've ever heard, Friends was actually pretty damn funny
Dwyn meh, friends is lame and outdated
Ken Harris similar characters does NOT mean same show. It means it plays on certain common traits. Bbt is terrible. Friends is still good and always will be
Anton Komarov Ha ok ya 13 year old
They are both funny
Are you really that obsessed with big bang theory that you have to compare
this is one of the videos blessed by me for being one of the things I watched when I was high for the first time
I mean honestly cut out the awkward silence when they are waiting for the audience too quiet down. And this actually works
Yeah, the only off putting factor is the wait times. This is a solid scene of jokes that bounces between all of the characters. It's still funny. Unlike TBBT where it seems like they are just horrible to each other and the jokes are so bottom tier comedy.
Yep not the funniest scene here, especially without context. But it still works
@@wiictvchannel1112 I literally don't see how this is any different from TBBT. It's more believable that you have a bias towards Friends over it.
@@rindoubaka1574 If you don't see the difference then that's on you. There's no bias here. I love sitcoms and have watched a lot, majority with laughtracks. Unlike a lot of people these days, I don't mind them if the comedy and actors are good. Friends is light years ahead of TBBT, laugh track or not.
Still holds up pretty well. Even though you definitely picked an especially good scene where the jokes are solid and the characters' personalities really shine through.
to be fair there were hardly scenes where the show didn't have all of that
I have never really watched the show, so I can't speak to the quality of it as a whole, but you guys are clearly watching this with biased eyes.
This is painful to watch.
@@ScrubNigel So knowing the context behind a scene counts as "biased" and watching a clip a decent length into a show's lifespan with no context whatsoever and not understanding why the characters personalities are so integral to the comedy is "fair", huh? Look at yourself.
@@ScrubNigel You actually have to have an idea about the characters and the context to be understand the humor. It's not that they are biased, it's that you have no clue what you're watching.
“Tennis is more believable” haha
This feels like a bunch of robots took over the world and are spontaneously making up a T.V. show. It's like they're re-loading after each line of dialogue.
