pretty sure when slavery was a thing mixed people couldn't vote because they were partially black. I'm not trying to compare slavery to something like this but it sorta sucks how we are moving backwards in time :/
its wayyyy common nowadays and sucks to be white passing in these scenarios. growing up being excluded from shit my family always got to do, too. blows man lol
As a mixed-race person, this is so frustrating. Especially within the media; roles usually call for a POC or a white person, and while mixed-race roles are increasing (though Asha, Mirabel, and Hiro are the only multiracial leads I can think of for Disney movies), being told that your race isn't enough to promote the self-congratulatory optics of diversity is frustrating--and even worse when having discussions about it and then being told "hey, you're only half/part (this race), so your opinion is invalidated."
The first movie HAD told us that even "bad" emotions like sadness has its positive funtions, simply saying the other emotions outside of joy is bad is weird
It's more like: your emotions ARE your body's reactions to experiences which you can act on if necessary. Based on the psychological theory the first movie was based off they are supposed to warn you to keep your body away from possible danger.
I'll try to give examples though I'm not sure it's 100% exact but - good anxiety is hopefulness, good anger is passion, good sadness is vulnerability/openness, good fear is excitement, good disgust is humor, good envy is admiration, good ennui is relaxation, good embarrassment is feeling flattered. And bad joy is... mindless hedonism, I guess.
@@jacobrodriguez7365I first started feeling nostalgia when I was 12/13 and going through puberty myself. I would watch home videos of myself playing or on vacation or horseback riding and start crying my eyes out because my life felt so difficult during puberty, but I remembered ages 3-10 being so much happier.
My explanation for why the parents don't have the other emotions is that the reason that Riley has them in the main office, is that she is a teenager. She isn't developed yet, her mindscape is still building out, changing and evolving. Aka, all of the emotions, negative and positive, are situated in one place at one time and all vying for control. With anxiety being such a control freak, due to teenagers usually falling prey to anxiety, and having it take control over their life (and bottling up emotions). The parents in their adult minds, are way more structured. I imagine that if we were to expand them out a bit, we would see the parents minds as "ranked offices" if that makes sense? The core emotions in the main office, and branching out to the other ones, ranked dependant on how strong they are within said individual. that is why we find that the dad still has anxiety in his main office, as he maybe struggled (and still do) with it in the past, so anxiety is around the corner. That is just my interpretation of course, it is more liekly they didn't think about it that well.
We already seeing rooms are developing in Riley's mind with Nostalgia being kept in a new waiting room because Riley's still too young for Nostalgia to play any significant part, the parents' Anxieties showed up as if they operate on another sector and just came in like an employee talking to their superior at their office
While I haven't seen Inside Out 2, Disney/Pixar shouldn't be afraid to be more experimental with their films; instead of playing it safe. Maybe even try doing films with smaller budgets
I liked soul and Luca. Disney + and streaming services are taking away from movie theaters In which Soul and Luca could've done well at the box office. As for movie theaters themselves. I do miss the ushers as some people are just really rude these days. Went to see minus 1 and there were a group of kids who would. NOT SHUT UP. Like it was so bad when some of them went to go to the restroom in the middle of the movie. Another audience member said. "and don't come back."
I thought Soul was really good! However, I have to admit I don't think it's a very good kids movie. It's an excellent movie for adults who recently hit their thirties.
@@thechancan5254 As a teenager I have to say I was absolutely captivated by the movie. I didn't fully understand it but it did make me think quite a bit which is more than enough imo, in addition to being funny and beautiful visually.
I would not be surprised if in a few months, Disney ends up declaring bankruptcy and is forced to sell all of its properties to other companies, just like from that scene in the Scott Pilgrim anime where Gideon Graves is forced to sell everything he owns to Matthew Patel after he loses to Matthew pretty badly!
@@madmanonyt9943 or more realistically, Bob iger having to sell all of the Walt Disney company’s assets and properties after so many severe box office Flops.
Inside Out 2 is a double edge sword 1 side being a huge winner Pixar but on the other side it can encourage them to make sequels but I would of love to see Lightyear was more of a remaining to Buzz Lightyear in Star Command but Pixar refuse to acknowledge it despite being a good series
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command was great! But it isn't on Disney+. It sucks because now the show will fade into obscurity because Disney and Pixar don't ever want people to see this show.
getting rid of a character because they represent anger management problems and body image issues...? WHAT THE HELL?! WHY?! That's a good thing, that's a flawed character that makes people face similar issues emphasize and feel represented
I still think that Anxiety looks like a rejected Fraggle and just reminds me how poorly the Henson company has been doing since Jim kicked off his mortal coil.
Honestly, the Hensons have been in a rut since finding money in preschool fare. There hasn't been much generalist TV from them in quite a long while, however licensing the general oldies to firms like Shout Studios is commendable.
I watched Inside Out 2 in theaters with my nephews and niece. I enjoyed it, despite the cringe of accurate teenager behavior aside. I will say that I don’t know if I agree with you viewing Joy as the the only “positive” emotion compared to the rest because it’s less about which is a positive or negative emotion to have but rather what emotion is needed for a specific moment. Anger is for expressing injustice, fear and disgust keeps you safe physically and socially. Plus the reason for Saddness was the whole point of the first movie because they aren’t necessarily bad emotions to have as long as they aren’t overindulged.
7:01 That can be explained by simply saying that they're not the main emotions. The new emotions are more complex and only are there for specific situations, but things like Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger or Disgust are emotions we feel basically on our everyday. So even though the others aren't present in the parents minds, they're still around.
Given this review I kind of want to see it now. I think it’s sad that we are only getting like one or two good movies from Pixar and Disney while the rest are just absolute flops. Great review!
I feel like Frozen doesnt really need a sequel, but Zootopia can do so much more. There's also Encanto, where we can focus on Pepa's side of the family more, since the first movie focused more on Julieta's side like Mirabel,Luisa, and Isabela
@@Gacha_Nazrinofficial I'd prefer it if they did like live-action films and set up the story for a sequel rather than making more based on success alone.
Surprising to learn about that behind the scenes "no promoting/hiring white dudes" bit. Well not SURPRISING, all things considered, but y'know what i mean. But yeah with the "personal vs generalized story" thing. I guess as Inside out shows, the key is a balance, but for the ones that do lean more towards personal, maybe they should lower expectations and understand they'll likely only be really impacting a relatively nicher audience, idk. Like, i dont NEED every piece of entertainment to be a relatable parallel to my own personal life, but at the same time I'm not going to go out of my way to watch like, Turning Red as someone that isn't an Asian Canadian girl going through puberty or whatever its about. And from what i hear Turning Red doesn't really have a hook beyond conveying that specific experience. So it comes back again to what you mentioned about striking a good balance and incorporating personal experience well into the writing, or maybe just leaving it as an inspiration and not making it the plot in and of itself. Idk.
I think you forgot to mention that there are scenes from the film that Sadness has a crush on Embarrassment and Embarrassment was the 1st new emotion to stop following Anxiety's plan to hurt Riley even further.
A really good fan explanation on why the new emotions aren't present in the adults is because unlike Riley, they have learnt how to control and decide their emotions, all the core members on the control panel aren't a complete stereotypical representation of that emotion, instead all complementing each other. Anxiety and the others is present in their minds, but they take a backseat and don't hold much power and control over their actions. But that's a fan fix for this particular plot hole, lets be honest pixar probably didn't think that far ahead for a sequel to a movie they made 9 years ago
I don't think the personal stories are so much the problem as much as who those personal stories belong to. It's tough to admit but not everyone's personal experiences are particularly engaging or exciting to watch, and when they're being told by people that might care more about it reflecting their own perspectives rather than using their experiences as a vehicle for an original narrative it can come across as fairly boring or even annoying and self indulgent. Everyone might have some stories to tell but not everyone has an exciting life. That's just how it is.
In short, it is all about the execution. It is not like, non-personal stories can't reflect personal perspectives. I mean, Disney's latest output is so full of their personal politics they shoehorned in. A story being non-autobiographical can't stop such things from happening, can it?
@@rosverlegaspo6752I think thats why Elemental was so polarizing. It seems like it was ment for a specific type of audience, immigrant families that had same experience of the director. Which isn't bad and is actually good to show the stuggle they go through. But thats the issue, not every immigrant family has the same experiences that the director went through. I'm also from a family that moved to the usa but I couldn't realate to the fire lady's problems at all, heck I related more with Wayn. And the rest of the movie was ok, the romance was cute but honestly it was nothing special outside of that specific niche (and the awful world building). It's probably why it struggled in america so much, It didn't have anything else for people to lach on too other than that niche and it was too big for it.
@@ohwell1547 It doesn't have to be the same experience. Almost no one experienced what Simba experienced (most aren't Royal after all), but most people love The Lion King. No one have experiences similar to James Bond, or Harry Potter, or Alice in Alice in Wonderland, etc.. Most stories are actually popular because it provides an experience that you would never experience in real life. This isn't really the true issue with Elemental. For me, the biggest issue with Elemental is the "elemental" aspect of the world itself. Like, how does that enrich or help tell the immigrant angle of the story? It is something that the story has to work around with rather than have it working with the story. It is like, they really like the idea of a world populated by beings themed around the four elements, or they just go with the Pixar signature of turning inanimate things to animated characters, but can't really integrate it into the story or create a story stemming from it. A similar example in their catalogue is Onwards. All the fantasy elements in there just doesn't really mesh well with the family themes that is going on. Essentially, the setting and the story itself just isn't working well together, forming a story that is disjointed from its setting and vice versa. The result is the story suffering a bit and the setting suffering a bit, both feeling somewhat half-cooked. Compare these to like Toy Story. The concept of living toys is integral to the story itself and its themes.
@@rosverlegaspo6752 Thats why I said there needs to have more for the audience to lach on. The examples you give have the hooks for people to watch, like James Bond. The hook IS the spy adventure, to beat super villain terroists and look swave while doing so. Reliability be damned. But Elemental is just the immigrant story, it's one of the core plot points, motivation for the main lead at the start, her backstory, and the one thing defenders of the movie always bring up as a defense. (Pun not intended) But the cast doesn't have strong personalities or character dynamics, the world building falls apart when you think about for more than 3 seconds, and the love story feels secondary even though it was advertised as that. Heck the fact that water mom brings up language as force drama is ment for people to be like "I've been through that, thats relatable." But others will be like "I've never experince this." or "I have, but she's really overreacting to something this minor?" (The latter is defently the majority in america) Hence why I say it's too big for a niche. The element part could work with the story but needs alot more planning and it shows. In my opinion, replace elements with furries like Zootopia, it can at least fix one issue.

My problem is that she looks less human than the other emotions, especially since she's kind of the antagonist, and it always feels like villains/antagonists are allowed to be more creative and interesting thab the usually boring protagonists.
Yet they still call it a flop just because it's success didn't have a huge spike at the start, which is especially baffling when it was one of the two films that was remotely successful during that year
I really liked Inside Out 2, I thought the new emotions were interesting and voiced well, especially Anxiety, who I thought was a good antagonistic figure for the movie. I also thought the new cast for some of the old characters did a good job sliding right in for the others and in some case doing better. I also like that this was a sequel that didn't destroy continuity or character development like many others do and it also felt like a sequel that deserved to be made, because the human mind is constantly evolving, even long after the brain stops growing, so this allows a lot of wiggle room for a sequel to be made, and I think focusing on one of the most turbulent times for one's life. The step backs this movie takes for me is that I wish they did more with Riley and the others, as in more scenes with the human characters, and I felt that the concept of puberty starting to change Riley felt a tad underutilized. But my absolute favorite parts of the movie include Joy saying maybe this is what happens, you feel less joy when you grow up, the I'm not good enough sense of self kicking in, the 1984 reference with the imagination land, the anxiety attack scene, and the mixed sense of self being created. Overall I think this is a great movie, and one that I really resonate with watching it as an adult.
…So as someone who LOVED Inside out and Inside Out 2, I hope the studios don’t just bank on sequels… …But you know… I mean if they just kept making Inside Out movies… that are just as good… wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world…… portray a lot of things like heartbreak, marriage, dealing with loss…
I really hope they compare inside out 2 to lightyear and not luca or turning red and they realize it's the quality of the movie not the IP it's a part of that'll make or break it anymore Inside out 2 is breaking records while lightyear was seen by tens of people and even fewer stayed awake through for the whole thing
Inside Out 2 saved the big screen more than what Disney was doing for a while. It shows that Pixar never gives up on its films and tries to get back up again for the audience to see their favorite movies!!! I hope they can continue this path and make sure not to mess up again 🙏
With all due respect, most of these personal stories are too niche or can't even held a single candle when compared to old pixar films like Wall E, Monsters Inc, French Rat movie, and Toys story 1-3.
Buzz lightyear was so boring. Plus it's interesting how they made a movie, saying this was the original film Andy saw. When Buzz lightyear was based off of action heroes like Flash Gordan. With an article saying that the movie directors where unaware that there was another Buzz Lightyear movie. Which was really good. (If you like Lightyear, that's good.)
I just went to see Inside Out 2 the other day and I adored it! As a teen that is currently navigating puberty this was extremely relatable, and in my opinion, an even better movie than the first one - though I might just think that because I haven't seen Inside Out 1 in a while. Also my personal head cannon as to why the cast of emotions from the sequel aren't present in the parent's brain for most of the second movie and the whole first movie is because when kids get to adolescence their emotions become more complex and diverse (creating the new characters we see in Riley's head), and because that change is sudden they juggle all these emotions at once not really knowing how to handle them, but as they get older they learn to control these secondary emotions that were seen in the second movie thus the emotions becoming less used and therefore only popping up at headquarters occasionally (as seen in the case of Riley's parents).
I loved inside out 2. In excited for the coming films, and I loved elemental (unpopular opinion surprisingly) Pixar still makes good movies. I feel like people saying Pixar is trash is kinda just wrong and people hating too much.
I keep hearing good things about Inside Out 2, but I still feel nothing. I have no care to check it out, I have no desire to feel excited, I simply don’t care anymore. That says a lot about how bad it’s been, I can’t even bother to get my hopes up and check out this new film. It doesn’t matter if it’s overhyped or genuinely good, part of me thinks “it’s lightning in a bottle, this changes nothing”. I’ve never felt so apathetic towards anything. It’s almost impressive, and it genuinely worries me.
@animezilla4486 We will have to see about the next one to see if they learn the right lessons, it not the first time Disney took the idea from things. With Disney they may think Sequel the answer rather then anything else.
@@Underworlddreamto be fair Disney is not the only studio that believes making more sequels with means more money for example DreamWorks is already making another Kung Fu Panda movie along with bad guys 2 and Shrek 5. Paramount / Nickelodeon already released the second loud House movie Google what's coming in the future is another SpongeBob movie and a sequel to teenage mutant Ninja turtles mutant mayhem. I think it's safe to assume that all studios are going to be focusing on existing properties rather than take chances for something original
While Inside Out 2 isn't a bad movie by any stretch, I did feel kind of disappointed by it because the plot was way too similar to the first film, with the main theme boiling down to, once again, needing to live alongside positive and negative emotions rather than focusing too much on one or the other. It's certainly the best Pixar film we've gotten in a while, but I don't love it. There's too many missed opportunities, especially with the new emotions like you said.
Eh it’s different enough plenty of new concepts also the theme is kinda opposite. The first movie theme was that it was okay to be sad and about toxic positivity. This movie is about how anxiety can take over and the struggles of being a teen
It's generally how it is...except...say...the 3rd will reveal that there ARE people who are just wicked by nature, and we get to see someone trying to harm Riley, and then see a bit of "Malice" grow in her head towards this one person Understanding that some are just evil is also part of life, and their reason for being evil varied...from bullies who want to feel superior, psychopaths trying to feel "New sensations", and power hungry people making others suffer for personal gain
Technically, it's a more nuanced perspective on the first movie. The first movie focuses on "not everything is about being happy," and you can take that lesson and go. I saw the newer movie like how you'd write an argumentative essay. You reassert the previous points while adding nuance through counter-argument. It also sprinkles in more relevant things with how we grow. When you get older, you have to get more serious, and you "feel less joy," as Joy says in the climax. The "losing your sense of self" thing also applies. It's a similar thing and point, but the context that surrounds it makes the story more compelling. But that's just my opinion.
My biggest dissapointement in this movie is that Nostalgia is never used , she could have been very interesting at the end but nope , she is shoved back in her room by Anxiety
Personal films like Luca are alright, but they need to mix it up and right now after wish. They need to take a bit of a risk. Do what they originally did go in get lunch for an hour and brainstorm like crazy.
The thing is with the emotions they’re only negative if you let them run wild and consume you, in small doses they can be positive or at least have a positive impact on you
Agree with you 100% on that last point. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be cool for her to cameo in another film/series, but Pixar gave Riley an emotionally beautiful ending, let her story end there.
I heard Inside Out 2 was getting all this praise for actually being good and I want to believe that statement, but at the same time I am skeptical. The critical and box office success of Inside Out 2 could lead to Disney/Pixar making the wrong decisions such as "sequels are good" and not "movies with well-written stories and pacing are good"
I was 6 days too late to watch the English version of the movie (in theatres) so I had to watch Inside out 2 in a language that I did not understand. I tried to understand what was happening via the snippets of the movie that I had seen on yt before hand, and the vibes of the scene. I definitely missed a lot of the movie but it was enough to quell my curiosity.
I honestly loved the movie, it expanded greatly upon the original movies concepts, and I loved the progress of Riley coming into her own more not letting her emotions control her as much anymore and allow her to make her own choices. The Original had some too but not as much the most definite being Anger saying “She took it” after giving Riley the idea of running away showing the ultimately Riley has final say on all choices she makes
I heard Inside Out 2 was pretty good, so at least it was a good movie doing well at the box office. I don't think Disney will learn the right lessons, though, and think "Sequels sell" rather than "Good movies sell".
So Inside out 2 was a good movie with a good story and it's doing well at the box office......What a twist. No its just par for the course. People will go out to see a good movie. Movie theaters will sell out these days if they have a anime movie feature. Plus they've been doing box office classics.
You are correct. I don’t like how Joy is the only “positive” emotion. There could have been a calm or peaceful emotion. But the new emotions make sense for a teenager
not to mention that in the credits that they hired therapists to help with the emotions! this was i think so it made it more relatable and so the new emotions weren’t stereotyped.
They really struck gold with inside out. I could easily watch a 3rd n 4th. Its thought provoking. I love how envy and anxiety work togerher the control your desire.
I agree with most of this, except I personally didn't have a problem with how envy was used because I think that's the intention. Like envy was a lot more subtle, she'd often fuel anxiety (E.g. Like with the notebook, she'd bounce off of anxiety and just make her worry even more) and I think that's more realistic - feelings of envy are often subtle, and I like the way that her effect on Riley was more subtle in that she'd just feed into anxiety's anxiety.
I really liked Inside out 2, it had me balling when her new sense of self had conflicting thoughts. But I disagree with what you said in 5:30 The entire point of Inside Out is that no emotions are "negative." Heck in the very first scene we see anger motivate Riley to score a goal, fear remind her to wear a mouth guard, and disgust stop her from using someone else's own. Even anxiety was only negative because she put wayy too much pressure on Riley, when she should've simply been a voice of caution to potential future events. Our emotions are neither positive or negative, it's letting them determine our actions that can have positive or negative effects on our lives.
I am starting to think who ever is running Disney now is doing all it can to watch it crumble. Like they have a personal reason to watch them fumble and die out. I don't know. I just think its ridiculous how they went from "Keep Moving Forward" to "Oh we cant hurt anyone's feelings."
I feel-no believe-that Disney and Pixar will take the wrong lesson of the success of Inside Out 2 and think the audiences wants more sequels instead of original movies. Not seeing that no one wants any more sequels to pre-existing movies like Frozen 3 & 4 as a huge example. And it’s sad that when they do make an original film, the story doesn’t feel like how Disney use to be before their pandering
I'm guessing that not all the emotions are at the terminal which is why we didn't see Anxiety and the others in the parent's mind. They were probably somewhere else.
The biggest mistake disney made was D+. By trying to cut out theaters and actors they put us in the bad habit of waiting for it to drop on D+. While we watch other content waiting. Side note i hate the idea i can watch gorey anime on D+. Thanks disney. I may support capitalism but that doesn't mean it can't be abused
I live near a movie theater where they have ‘time capsule’ movies and bring back movies that are like 20-30 years old so in like 20 years i can hopefully see Luca in theaters!
5:32 I wouldn't say they were all negative: Envy was portrayed much more as Admiration/Determination/Desire. Whenever Envy was using the console Riley was never shown being envious of others, rather she was desiring or admiring something. I'd say if Envy and Anger made a mixed memory THAT would be a true envy
The pandemic has had many after-effects, especially in the Entertainment industry. Because no one could come to the movie theaters and the many streaming services, there are not many people who really go to the movies anymore. The gaming industry is doing even worse but in a different way the Pandemic actually made gaming grow but it happened so fast that game companies not called Nintendo couldn't keep up with the Demand for video games and now almost all video games are Unfinished and are way too expensive to make and take far too long to make
As a Mario RPG fan, I know damn well how much corporate mandates suck out the creativity and life out of projects (luckily, it’s looking up for those games rn, but yeah)
I think the reason Red or Lucca also didnt do as well as expected is cause i feels and looks that their directors were really naive and unexperienced with storytelling. Cause no, copypasting your own life doesnt make a story inmediately good. The Incredibles is also based on Brad B life/work struggles, but he managed to make his own premise, characters and a worldbuolding able to hold by itself, not relying on looking for others pitty for their perpsnal lifes. Red being the worst one as the protagonist allmost feels like a self insert and the most expensive therapy session ever seen. A good story doesnt rely on it's messages or giving lectures to the audience, it's about the world we are getting into and then characters within
I didn't care for Inside Out 2. Most people are looking at it with rose colored glasses, because it didn't have anything really terrible in it, so that alone makes it good enough for them. In reality, the plot was much weaker than the first, and the lesson was poor for kids. The first movie Riley has to deal with all the problems of moving, and has a touching moment with her parents upon realizing they're all taking it hard. The sequel focuses on her choosing between friendship and popularity, and gaining both in the end, which isn't a good moral for kids; especially, today when so many kids struggle with having one friend. Also, the first movie is an allegory of growing up with her childhood things like Bing Bong going away. The second movie acted like for a moment it would be about puberty, but then goes in another direction, and never mentions it again. It feels like they scrapped a bunch of ideas when they were conceptualizing the film, such as body changes, romance, and depression being scrapped.
I've been in the cinema for inside out 2 and I quite enjoyed it, even if I expected some very different scenarios with the new emotions. Also I think there's some lost potential here on "becoming a woman", which as we all know, messes up our emotions a hella lot. That would've been interesting to watch as well but yeah, too gross for the young audience I guess. A shame. On the other hand the yellow bag was waaaay too cringe for us adult audience 😂 But all in all the movie was great. I'm curious if we see her again or if Rileys Story ends in puberty already. Which would also be a great shame. And disney... once upon a time bigD was a major reason for me to go to cinema. But that's been long gone. It's so sad watch them greeding and killing all emotions and stories for money only. Also they don't understand today's society at all... it's not only about being a strong independent woman. We can have love interests, we can be weak and rely on guys sometimes. And we're not akorable (at least not everyone). The only thing that needed some upgrades in original Disney films was the "oh I met a prince, lets marry him! Bc that's my only purpose in life" mindset the old movies often carried. It got better over time but now D is as lost as never before, at least imo.
Inside out 2 was a okay film that had it’s flaws and straights, but I understand what your saying it felt like it wasn’t weighted down by disneys political, progressive or corporate side and felt rather genuine despite me not being a fan of the new emotions and etc. And in general i think Disney's gonna eat well especially with deadpool, Moana 2 and mufasa. Tho I hope they learn something from this and don’t pump out sequels that Pete doctor was eluding too.
To comment on this first, I have NOT seen the movie, this is just an observation from snippets Ive seen so far & thoughts that remained from the first movie. The thing with sequels, at least for me, is that I wish for more of a setup. As you said, suddenly having new emotions join is fine BUT there was no setup for them, at least not that I remember. Not even a sign that any of the grown adults had them before this movie, which is odd to me. And its also kinda odd, to me at least, to have emotions join in relatively late and take over entirely. Especially since its a) only negative emotions and b) they join in at an age where, surely, those emotions have been experienced before like idk, a child being anxious and crying because their mum walked away with the shopping kart while they were stuck looking at toys or something. It feels like this is a sequel that wasnt planned too well ahead. At least not in terms of core emotions. I mean it couldve taken away from the whole new reveal of "ohhhh new emotion" but technically you couldve just introduced more emotions to begin with and then showed how they slowly unlock in Rileys brain, what caused them to appear, the first memory theyre in etc. You couldve still gone with the different lifephases thing we have rn but you couldve also added the thought of "oh, I wonder which emotion will unlock for her next and how big of a role will they play". And diving deeper into that, you couldve made the main brain part a bit more buzzing with different emotions that all do their part and who, every now and then, decide who gets to be the idk, top5 emotions. And make those top emotions different for people over the years and based on personality. You could even go as far as do awareness stuff with anxiety, sadness etc being the main emotions of someone depressed and how more memories with joy could raise joys popularity so that they could then be a top emotion again, just as they were when they were a child etc and have that be a big plot point. Idk, just throwing thoughts at a wall here.
Why do people keep saying that Pixar is only making sequels going forward? There's Ellio coming and the Duck movie coming. They even said every other movie will be original.

Horseshoe Theory: "I am inevitable"
Emotions themselves are neither good nor evil. There are only positive or negative reactions to emotions.
So no emotion is inherently evil it depends on your ideology and experience
As someone who loved Inside Out 2, I wish they gave Nostalgia and Lance Slashblade more screen time and other attributions to the film.

They could go the illumination route and manage the budget of their films more
The bigger you are, the less risk you want to take
bro inside out 2 is so fucking good
I liked soul and Luca.

I said she looked like Pepe from Muppets lol
@HollyheartTheCatQueen
And I thought she looked like an Aardman character!
Didnt the Henson company help work on the highly successful fnaf movie?
idk man anxiety kinda rocking that phineas shirt
I think you’re onto something. Pixar needs to return to form and become innovative again.
What they need to do is try to break free from Disney. Just like the other companies should.
I WATCHED it and i Love it. But ofc everyone's Taste is different.
There is a lot of work to do in order to restore Pixar & Disney alike to their former glory.
Hopefully they learn that a good movie can be anything, instead of trying to find a "formula" to rehash constantly.
I PRAY that the success of Pixar's "Inside Out 2" motivates Disney to develop deeper stories for "Zootopia" and the "Frozen" sequels.
But that's a fan fix for this particular plot hole, lets be honest pixar probably didn't think that far ahead for a sequel to a movie they made 9 years ago
they don't need sequels. They just need good, entertaining movies... bad sequels can flop just as bad as any horrible movie
Well said lol
Heck the fact that water mom brings up language as force drama is ment for people to be like "I've been through that, thats relatable." But others will be like "I've never experince this." or "I have, but she's really overreacting to something this minor?"
(The latter is defently the majority in america)
Hence why I say it's too big for a niche.
The element part could work with the story but needs alot more planning and it shows.
In my opinion, replace elements with furries like Zootopia, it can at least fix one issue.

I really hope they compare inside out 2 to lightyear and not luca or turning red and they realize it's the quality of the movie not the IP it's a part of that'll make or break it anymore
Inside out 2 is breaking records while lightyear was seen by tens of people and even fewer stayed awake through for the whole thing
Disney is forcing Pixar & Walt Disney Animation to make more sequels over original movies after
Inside Out 2 massive success which is a shame!
Inside Out 2 saved the big screen more than what Disney was doing for a while. It shows that Pixar never gives up on its films and tries to get back up again for the audience to see their favorite movies!!!

Buzz lightyear was so boring. Plus it's interesting how they made a movie, saying this was the original film Andy saw. When Buzz lightyear was based off of action heroes like Flash Gordan.
You know, I would of loved to see a House of Mouse movie vs Wish for the 100 year anniversary
I think the big test to this will be Pixar’s next film Elio since that will be original. Let’s see how that does

I think it's safe to assume that all studios are going to be focusing on existing properties rather than take chances for something original
I still have not recovered from the fact that Disney scrapped Wish's much better earlier concepts.
It's generally how it is...except...say...the 3rd will reveal that there ARE people who are just wicked by nature, and we get to see someone trying to harm Riley, and then see a bit of "Malice" grow in her head towards this one person
Understanding that some are just evil is also part of life, and their reason for being evil varied...from bullies who want to feel superior, psychopaths trying to feel "New sensations", and power hungry people making others suffer for personal gain
She's supposed to be a running joke and anxiety said she's not ready yet
The critical and box office success of Inside Out 2 could lead to Disney/Pixar making the wrong decisions such as "sequels are good" and not "movies with well-written stories and pacing are good"
It is good. I get the hesitation. But I promise you will not regret watching the movie
It is as good as the first ome, pretty solid
It’s not that big of a deal when a sequel to a fan favorite flops horribly they will shift back to originals again this happens a lot in the industry
5:30 well Nostalgia also shows up for a few seconds. Granted nostalgia is more of a bittersweet feeling, at least to me
I love the gag of the video game character trying to walk out the vault door.
I’m glad Inside Out 2 released at the perfect time for me. I’m suffering in my teen years and the movie felt like it was made for me :).
6:58 that’s probably because adults can deal with emotions a bit easier than someone Riley’s age so they’re not there
This makes me so sad and happy at the same time.
I just noticed that Anxiety looks like an ugly version of Red Fraggle...
But I disagree with what you said in 5:30
The entire point of Inside Out is that no emotions are "negative." Heck in the very first scene we see anger motivate Riley to score a goal, fear remind her to wear a mouth guard, and disgust stop her from using someone else's own. Even anxiety was only negative because she put wayy too much pressure on Riley, when she should've simply been a voice of caution to potential future events.
Our emotions are neither positive or negative, it's letting them determine our actions that can have positive or negative effects on our lives.
I love how nearly everyone loved the concept art of wish instead of the wish we got, which was shit
wish is a wish version of wish tbh
This turns out to be more of an Inside Out 2 review rather than about Disney/Pixar self sabotage.
fun fact : this movie made me cry because I can relate
I still cannot get over the fact that even a glimpse of the concept is a whole lot better than the whole movie
I surprisingly enjoyed Inside out 2. I was cracking up when Bloopy showed up
I'm guessing that not all the emotions are at the terminal which is why we didn't see Anxiety and the others in the parent's mind. They were probably somewhere else.
For inside out 2, I honestly felt like ending on Riley not being accepted into her hockey team would have been a better choice.

I'm Dwight D Eisenhower and I support this message.
5:41 idk bro i had this "new" emotions when I was a lil boy, i least i don't have anxiety anymore
A good story doesnt rely on it's messages or giving lectures to the audience, it's about the world we are getting into and then characters within
Yeah I'm concerned about there being too many Inside Out sequel's now too. 3 would be plenty
A shame. On the other hand the yellow bag was waaaay too cringe for us adult audience 😂
But all in all the movie was great.
Isn't one of the points of inside out literally that they aren't all "negative emotions"
Wait inside out 2 came out already? I actually totally missed it.
It's intentional at this point, I'd say. And good riddance.

"And then there's Lightyear, which is kinda boring. No offense".
No. All of the offense, please.
Idk, just throwing thoughts at a wall here.
ngl there should be an inside out 3 where it shows rileys college life, and her college graduation would end the trilogy
Companies will keep milking out sequels until we stop spending our money to see them
Why do people keep saying that Pixar is only making sequels going forward? There's Ellio coming and the Duck movie coming. They even said every other movie will be original.
This might be a step in the right direction for Disney/Pixar, but it's gonna have to take them a lot more time and effort to win my favor back.
I think she'll be revealed at the end of the season being released. Then she'll probably be in a film.
