Scotty can you explain the benefits of upgrading coolant system with 50/50 blend of water and redline water wetter along with a high-pressure radiator cap? Thanks man! 😎
Bought a PT Cruiser the first year they came out. It had some high dollar “lifetime”coolant. I had to change the water pump twice and the radiator 3 times in 10 years. It finally ate through the head gasket. I had flushed and replaced the coolant after the third radiator. I took it to a Dodge dealership for the second water pump change. I told them I changed out the coolant and provided the new coolant for them to use. When I picked up my vehicle they had put that high dollar coolant back into my coolant system saying, “We have to use manufacture recommended parts and fluids. Two weeks later the head gasket failed. 🤨
I bought a brand new top trim yaris in 2011. At that time the total price was around 10k usd in India. Currently has 240k on the odo. Just replaced the coolant few days ago . This was it's first coolant change and i went with the oem pink fluid. The coolant i drained out still looks perfectly pink and there is no crap in the system. The car has everything original. Not a single engine part replaced out side of things that require maintenance. After all these years now some things are popping up like while i was replacing the brake shoes i noticed both rear shocks are leaking so i just ordered a pair of shocks and all the other hardware. Whole set from the toyota dealership was just around 70$. Quite a deal for oem parts!. Gonna replace them this week they should arrive tomorrow. Your issues are more related to the brand of car instead of the coolant😂.
you said dodge but GM does this, when they have an upgraded fluid like coolant they just tell their supply chain its the right type, to make it easy. But its not compatible and eats gaskets of the previous generation. and even if you replace the gasket it may be the OLD type so the problem happens again.
@@ConnorDonahoe2712 I occasionally checked the level and it was still green up until the day I sold it. Even told the dude who bought it that it was never changed.

Good advice scotty! I don't live in a cold climate so I have never used antifreeze. I have used just pure water in all of my vehicles with no problems. Now of course if I lived in a cold climate I would use antifreeze and it would be important to use the right one. That's why they call it antifreeze!😊
I’ve been using Traveler anti freeze from tractor supply . It’s a neutral clearish color says you can use with any color anti freeze. Been a couple years no problems . Several different cars and ages of cars. Doesn’t mean we won’t have problems “down the road”...
Didn't realize there was an organic coolant I had to watch out for. And I just had to buy two kinds of coolant, the other day, for a tractor and a truck. The tractor is from the 80s and takes the glycol based green stuff. And the truck is from 2012, and takes the Chevy Dexcool. And I'm still not sure what Dexcool actually is, but I know you can't mix them either; but gas stations sell this universal stuff, that is supposed to be compatible with both, but I'm not going to risk it. Haha.
Dex cool is Oat as what GM used too sell through Vauxhall trade club before Peugeot bought them out and scraped trade club! Was best price for oil anti freeze works shop consumables etc! Shame it's gone since disbanded the motor factors have ramped price right up for all the stuff trade club sold!
Also, avoid mixing and matching fuels, engine oil, bearings, etc. in your vehicle. All parts and fluids should be of the same specifications, e.g., don’t put petrol in a diesel, or use low quality parts.
And here I am, still running the same coolant for the past 16 years (aside from adding a little every once in a while to top it up). I suppose I might change it out this year just to see how gunky it is.
Read the instructions on the container. Pure anti-freeze needs to be diluted with distilled water at about 50% or a little less. Only stupid people would pay the same price for pre-mixed coolant when it is half water, Lol

My old car and my new car both use BLUE coolant. I wanna go out on a limb here and say that green mixing is DEF bad, but not 100% sure about pink mixing…. But to be safe, I always use blue. Who cares if it’s a little more expensive. Mixing can cause a reaction that clogs your pipes and ruins your system, or even worse ruins your engine. General rule of thumb- Stay with the color your car has.
What about Blue? My 2017 subaru outback has 50/50 blue. I am moving up to Northpole Alaska and it's supposed to be 60/40. (More glycol) but what color should it be?
I do not care how advanced the coolant might be. Heat breaks down coolants. Broken down coolants damage thermostats, radiators, and water pumps. Change your coolant every 2 years.
That's temperature ranges, not specific gravity's or viscosity. Most people are clueless about oil and just use temperature ranges not actual oil spec.
I’d assume you’re wondering about mixing oil for topping off? I do it all the time lol and I am a mechanic. I also use mostly mobile 1 or high quality oil so I’m not too worried about mixing 5w-30 and 10w-30. I own 3 vehicles currently and like to buy and sell cars so I will end up with leftover oil from oil changes and sometimes will use them all together 🤷🏻♂️
