I've had my scanline generator for just over two weeks, and every time I turn my system on I'm still in love with the picture quality. This alone has been the biggest improvement to my Pandora setup. Thanks again guys!!!
Some dude named Dave sent me. Says he loves scanlines. Guy even had custom sunglasses made so when he walks around the town, scanlines everywhere he looks!!!
just so other folks know this tip, if u tune up the rgb all the way up it lightens the dark lines a bit it adds a more subtle look that can bring out more light from the monitor, because this thing does dim the monitor quite a bit even without it on edit: once u turn them all up, u might have dial one back i think green? sometimes i make sure red is a lil more dialed up than green and blue for a warmer picture
@@TeamPandory yes! I pass very thin scanlines and then use the Marseille MCable to connect to the TV. Works great on low res games because they seem to benefit from the effect!
I got a Cruis’n Exotica arcade cabinet earlier this year and unfortunately the tube was out. I didn’t want to drop $400 on a replacement medium res CRT as I had other projects I wanted to put the hobby budget towards. I installed an lcd in with one of these scanline generators and it helps bring the lcd a tad closer to the look of a crt. I’d like to one day put back in a crt if I can find one at a reasonable price, but until then the LCD + Scanlines works just fine. Operational beats sitting around collecting dust.
@@TeamPandory since older arcades typically output RGB video, you need a GBS control board to get hdmi out (blue HDMI output version, not the more common VGA out version called GBS 8200) to translate the signal into something more lcd friendly.
I bought this scanline generator to add scanlines for Wii U virtual console and Switch NES/SNES app games, and it functions great for that, but I also got an additional bonus along with it. To explain this bonus feature, I’ll go into detail about my 5.1 surround setup. I have an older Sony surround sound system that only accepts RCA, digital coaxial and toslink inputs. I have my lcd tv connected to it via toslink. For the life of me, I could not get surround sound to work for the switch and Wii U at all, not matter what settings I tried on console or tv. I had the scanline generator for a week when for shits and giggles, I thought I’d try testing for surround sound again since I got this new device connected to my setup. So I turned on the Wii U and went to its sound settings and tested for surround, but got nothing. So then I went into the tv’s audio settings, saw that the digital audio out was set to pcm, changed that setting to bitstream, and then run the test again. But this time, the surround sound is working! Then I got on the switch, turned on surround sound, and it works too! I’m very happy with this device, especially now that I have surround sound for 2 devices that I didn’t have it for before.
Wow! Great to hear! I thought it was great for the scans on these cheap emulation boxes, but you've just gone and opened another tin of delicious beans.
I've found surround sound carried by HDMI going through the HDMI scanline generator is stripped back to just stereo. I use an EZCOO HDMI splitter £30 before connecting to the scanline generator so I can use the other HDMI output with intact surround audio which then goes to my AV receiver. Easily worth it for having working surround and keeping the awesome improvement scanlines produce.
I always keep by scanline quite but I pre scale the pixels to match the lines and run filter.so you do not really notice the lines nut the lines can bring out meltelics armor or weapons glares aerate than dull grey.
Hello ! I’m wondering if the device works on a 4K TV because I have one and you can imagine how bad it looks when I play a PS1 or PS2 game on it. Also, is it dangerous for my TV to use it ? I don’t want the device to destroy my TV haha ! I know it sounds stupid but I need to be sure before using it ! 😅
Not one person on the internet has shared what resolutions it can handle. Some have said they had issues with some resolutions but not one person has said what ones. Sooooo frustrating when I’m debating on getting it
Super Eon 64 with this would be amazing! But, hyperkins with this would do just as well! Super eon compared to hyperkins is probably not that much noticeable IMO. I’ll have to buy this Scanline Generator for sure!
I got one and tried to use it with a Xbox 360 with CAVE shmups, but there picture remains black. I play with the switches of the scanline generator, but it did not help. Can anyone help or point the direction for further solutions? Thx
Hey mate, I've been thinking about picking one of these up on aliexpress. Do they have a specific resolution or resolution cap? I wonder if they can do 2k and 4k as well as 1080p.
I prefer no scanlines but neo geo and some of the older games look good with scanlines. When they are configured properly they can look really good on neo geo and some of the consoles like nes, md, snes..etc.
@@TeamPandory thanks! / that was fast! I have another question. It sends the audio signal through the hdmi or, do I need to separate the audio signal before the scanline generator?
@@Wayno220 I've added an HDMI scanline generator to my PS5 setup, giving my old games and movies that classic CRT monitor look. The output is clear at 1080p with 30fps, making PlayStation Plus classics and 2000s movies look stunning. It's nostalgia with a modern twist and definitely recommended! In my setup, one PS5 output connects to a 4K 60fps HDMI splitter/switch. This splitter has two outputs: one goes directly to the TV's HDMI port 1 (named "PS5"), and the other connects to the HDMI scanline generator. It can't handle resolution switching so you would have to reset it every time you go from ps3 to ps2.
