  • In today's video I want to provide an explanation about some of the basics ECU mods or peripherals we add to motorcycles to makes them either safe or faster.
    On this video I want to answer the following questions?
    What are they?
    How do they work?
    Why do you need them?
    Can you combine them?
    What are the risks, advantages ir disadvantages?
    My bikes:

      Hmmmmmm.....I will think about it.
      I am not a wheelie master, I have only done a few 2nd gear clutch ups. For the most part all my wheelies have been unintentional.
      This was before I lowered my bike almost 3 inches. Right now my bike is lowered almost 3 inches and it's strapped to avoid wheelies when launching. I am pretty sure I should be able to wheelie it but might be a bit trickier.
      I can try it though... no promises 😉

    So a powercommander or any of its add ons cannot remove the throttle valves restrictions or any other restrictions on my bike?
    But an ECU flash can easily get rid of those?

    • @ToModorNottoMod
      @ToModorNottoMod  2 роки тому +1

      Correct. Power Commander will help you fix your fueling, but will not change instructions written on your ECU regarding the operation of your throttle besides fuel. If you pair it with an Ignition module will also control timing and spark and you get other benefits but will not control the throttle valves.
      The ECU reflash have access to other parameter the Power commander simply has no access to.

      Don't work on it just sell it to me 😃.
      The best bet is reflashing the bike by sending the ECU.
      Where are you located? I found a few places

    I have a 2017 R nine T with headers no cats , k&N. Filter took about 40 off. Any idea what power commander to get Or glass ECU? I want to get the one the makes the most power. Thanks

    • @ToModorNottoMod
      @ToModorNottoMod  Рік тому

      Hey Cafe Racer. Amazing bike, brother! I'd love to get one one day.
      I don't have a R Nine T, so my search is pretty basic. I found 2 options from reputable companies:
      - BrenTuning - They offer a diagnostic tool with the ability to flash at home for about $1000 USD. They offer 2 stages.
      - Vivid Racing - about 120 HP for $500 hp. Based on the info on the website, you need to send the ECU
      Power Commander - The initial cost is less than $500 but you will need to take the bike to a dyno to get the best bang for your buck.
      I explained this on the video, but I will go over this quickly.
      The re-flash is based on a bike that was tuned on a dyno. If you are in similar conditions to the bike that was used as a baseline, you will be golden. The reflash is more focused on eliminating restrictions and gaining power by tuning fuel to take advantage of the de-restrictions.
      The power commander might give you more power when you tune it at a dyno but the power commander will not remove restrictions such as injector on deceleration or speed limit, but the fuel map will be specific to your bike and that is key.
      Does that make sense? Did I answer your question?

    I know you recommend Moore Mafia for ECU reflash, but I am not living in the states, I cannot wait for the shipping. Can I just buy the ECU with the same part no to Moore Mafia to reflash, and I swap the ecu myself after the send it back?

    • @ToModorNottoMod
      @ToModorNottoMod  Рік тому +1

      I don't see why not. I have never heard these bikes are paired with the VIN, meaning it shouldn't prevent you from swapping the ECU and still have the bike recognized the new ECU and to work on it.
      If I were you, I would reflash yours and use the other one as a backup.
      Let me know if you have questions.

    What's the top speed on your bike after the mods?

    • @ToModorNottoMod
      @ToModorNottoMod  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Claus great and valid question but honesly I dont know....it's complicated.
      I have never tested all of this mods on OEM gearing 17/44...
      For most of 2021 i have been riding -2 +3 which of course is suuuuuper agressive.
      I think the best thing (until I test it) I can tell you is with a horrible 60', i have done 132 miles per hour on the quarter mile with a time of 10.5 with the current gearing.
      Does that help?
