- 2019/2020 really seems to be the era of the k24 swap. And for good reason: they’re cheap, plentiful, plus you can get a whole lotta power and revs out of them. So when Touge Factory was building their 240sx time attack car, a K swap was the obvious choice.

Are 200hp plus stock with NON turbo. That’s what you basically get from sr20det that’s Turbocharged. Plus the Honda is far superior in quality and reliability.

More detail regarding reliability and superior performance. It’s because it’s a closed deck, and has superior head flow.
Hence why it’s becoming the new 2JZ.

He has to show me $850 delivered because I'd like to see that. I've seen K swaps SHIPPED in the $1300+ range. $3000-4000 for SR20 FULL swaps shipped.
Jdm k24a (rbb) are about 800 all over ebay, Low mileage. The k20a2, k24a2, k20a(type r) is the expensive one relatively but for good reason
@@THELA0SKID I've seen $899 from HMO and shipped to me in Florida they want $1350. From what I understand K24A and A2 are essentially the same but the 24A is cheaper than the 24A2

I have that same DCT on my 335is. SO it's an LCI spec e92 from 2011 but it still has the N54 mated with the M3/M4 DCT. Shifts are super fast and the downshifts in sport mode are insane. She's a ripper.

As a S14 owner and doing the SR20 swap. The cons and pros for the SR20
Cons = Price and availability
Pros = Originality, Simple Swap, and resale value is constant (People like OEM built)
K24 (honda) Swap
Cons = Price = Speed Academy has an episode that break down about the cost for the swap $8000 to $10000
Pros= Engine available, Price for the engine
The guy that is giving the answer is wrong about the price for the SR20 especially in CALI = JDM California and JDM San Diego and ect.. all the shop are selling the SR20 for $4000, these shop keep telling me the same thing about the SR20 are getting harder to get. The whole trend about importing Cars because of the 25 year old rule, the profits are coming from whole cars now, engines are becoming harder to get because other shops around the U.S are bidding and sourcing them out and the numbers for those engines are limited.
My engine cost me $3800 and bought the parts I needed to complete the swap (water pump, hoses, ect...) so I'm in the hole for $4400 right now and that running. Compare to a K24 turbo swap that half the Cost. Everybody has different taste and views but the K24 swap is an option but an expensive one. Just like the 1JZ or LS swap
K24 , 1JZ, LS swap = Expensive
SR20 swap = Moderate price point, and easy to do just Plug and Play
Also people need to take in consideration that a lot of car guys are NOT DIYer's they would look for a shop to do this swap and guess what that not cheap. These swaps only benefit DIYer's, many people won't take the challenge to start the swap.

What's old is new again. I bought my first car at 14 in 1984. Even though it was a 1955 Chevy rusted out heap, I wanted to go fast. So when I needed parts, I owned a 1969 Camaro when I rolled up to the Zone. Lol

wondering why there's no rear diffuser, didn't need the extra downforce or more of a balance thing? Was under the impression diffuser + flat bottom > rear wing since it doesn't create as much drag but still lots of downforce, if anyone knows let me know, great car :)

What's the wheel specs?? Such an epic car! I'm building a VVL SR S15 aiming for around 750hp but the K20/24 did cross my mind, would of halved my build price but I'm sticking with God's motor!
Sr20s are peice of shit engines that are only so popular because people wanted to make it work in that chassis. The only reason they have so much supoort is because there are so many cars with them. Overpriced to build and poorly engineered

Every video you make I learn something new almost by accident. The virtual clutch kick with an automatic (this is exciting because you know we're all starting to fall in love with these new quick shifting autos once they shed some weight) and I learned you can actually make smoke rings from exhaust gasses. This build is dope.

4 piston racing does iirc
Honda also sells the crate version of civic type r motors (k20c1 turbo) and K24Z7 but you need a racing license to buy one, about $6k

Kudos for finding a viable SR alternative, but I haven't seen these K motors anywhere near 850. I demand to see his supplier! =)
Love the Return to Source/circle of life of this car though. Before drift teams got to the factory support level, about the only place to see big power JDM cars that adequately handle corners were either grassroots guys doing circuit racing that had to fab all the suspension or factory-supported race teams like the spec series in the 90s and 2000s. Although I'd also lop shops like Stillen in the mix too.

How much you think a turbo K24 swap would cost?
10-20k. If lucky at junkyard and ebay turbo maybe 5-8k
This is all relative to who’s building it and what your connections are like . If your gonna pay a shop then it’s gonna be a lot. If you know your way around and have swapped cars before you could make it happen for a relatively cheap budget.

Yes, a heavy iron block 2JZ that would do way more in straights and not much in turns is what grip cars need. There's a reason a lot of MKIVs that participated in serious racing like JGTC used the 3SGTE and later the 3UZFE.
