  • Lap 3 is the fast lap.
I fried my brake caliper dust boots and seals and boiled my brake fluid at my August Track Event. See the front brakes getting hot at position 28:32 of this video: • Alfa Romeo Giulia QV |... .
Before this event, I rebuilt all my brake calipers and installed titanium heat shields ( www.girodisc.com/ ) on all the pads.
    What a difference!
Gave me the confidence to go a bit faster knowing I wouldn't struggle to stop this time.

      Thanks! My best time is 1:40 ( ua-cam.com/video/Z-4KZfP7w54/v-deo.htmlsi=ovHydlu2SP8bWyGt ).
I've made many improvements since that run, including added power and improved suspension components + GTAm CDCM.
I hope to get back to the track with these changes fairly soon to see if I can break 1:30s.

Yeah, and my exhaust is stock. Actually, the whole car is stock with exception of swapping my CCM brakes for iron and installing ST springs.
Now that I've rebuilt all my brake calipers the brakes feel really good. This gave me the confidence to go a bit faster this event. Even at that, I'm still letting out down the back-straight. If I keep my foot in it she'll hit 160+ like it ain't nothin'! When she hits 5th gear the extra surge of power is scary, which is when I back out lol!
I need some stickier tires now. Maybe then I'll try keeping my foot in it through T9.

@@Mario_RX7 I brag all over the forums and on Twitter about how bulletproof it's been. I have ~13,000 TRACK MILES and I've not had to do anything but repair my park brake calipers and rebuild my Brembo brake calipers because one track day I boiled my brake fluid and fried my caliper piston seals.
The car doesn't even use oil. Not even on track days!
Mind you I'm the type that likes to just open up and go through my car for no reason with a fine-toothed comb. If I see something I don't like, I'll address it whether it's a real problem or not.

I can consistently run 1:44s, 1:43s all day in this car, but I know it's faster than that. I'm just building nerve to hold my foot in it down the back-straight lol. It has so much more acceleration in it, but I get nervous and let out into T9... wanna make sure I can stop before T10a and T10b lol!

I used this mic with my GoPro Hero 5 Black cameras (two... one forward facing and one rearward facing). The one capturing the exhaust note is my rear facing camera mounted on the rear shelf right between the two headrests.

As for the telemetry, I'm extracting that from the GoPro GPS data.
I'm currently doing a LOT of suspension geometry work to my car. AFter I test that on track, I'll get a tune from Ideal Race.

Awesome work, what tires are you running?

    • @genyosai
      @genyosai  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks!
I'm currently running Yokohama Neova 08R. This is a compromise I choose between the OE Pirelli tire with a 60 utqg rating, and the Yoko 200 utqg. The Pirelli is obviously much, much stickier, but dang!!! They only last one track day!! So I went with the Yokohamas so that I wouldn't have to buy tires every track event considering I track the car ~once/month.
This affects my cornering speeds, however. My cornering speeds are super low compared to some other cars I've tracked... even my Tesla Model 3 Performance is much faster in the corners because of the very low center of gravity that car has.
So, to fix that, I'm probably going to cancel my November 28 event registration in preparation to have some serious suspension customization done.
The Quadrifoglio is seriously lacking front camber. I also prefer a square wheel/tire setup for the track, but normally there's no good way to do this for this car. However, with the help of some enthusiasts over on the Giulia Forums ( www.giuliaforums.com/ ) I've managed to get in touch with Jay O'Connell of O'Connell Car Development. He's a race engineer, as in, for example, he supports IMSA teams. He's customizing my front upper control arms so that I can get up to -4.0* camber and run the OE rear wheel/tire size up front (10" wrapped in up to 285s).
This simple modification should allow me to shave another 2-4 seconds off my Road Atlanta lap time by faster cornering. Once I've tested/tweaked the suspension geometry and feel good about it, I plan on getting a tune from Ideal Race ( idealrace.com/ ). The owner, Eric Urness, is another race engineer and has expert experience tuning cars, as he was the lead engineer/tuning developer for APR. He ha a tune for my car that not only increases power, but make the power more manageable, because in stock form the power is hard too modulate and the car is always trying to kill you lol!
      I'm Excited!
Pulling off my front Upper Control Arms this weekend!!
      Stay tuned :)
