Gotta love the rattle-can paint job and mismatched rims! Really completes the whole early 2000s "Civic" vibe. In all seriousness, this car would clean up half decent. I'd give it a thorough clean and just keep driving it.
Hard life! Looks like a 300k mile car. You can bet that toggle was to arm the nitrous which based on their handiwork...prolly sprayed directly into the cabin.
People are too lazy to try selling it themselves. They would rather just drive it into the junkyard for an instant cash sale and be done with it. But that's ok because it helps Jay make some money. But really... Craigslist isn't that hard to use.
Sounds like Jay paid 200 for it. From the perspective of the owner, he could either list it for 500 and get talked down to 400 after months online or just drive it to the boneyard and get 200 instantly. I understand why
BigWheel Yeah I’m definitely familiar with the VP. I looked at an ‘05 as a work car just a year ago or so. I went with an ‘04 Corolla LE instead. Believe it or not they were about the same price. In similar conditions. Although the Civic was a bit rougher.About the same mileage too.
@@chrish5018 yeah the corolla is a better buy in my opinion, I have my eye on a 90s corolla wagon with a manual in my area as a winter car since my daily doesn't have rust.
Just discovered your channel! It's GREAT! Been binge watching. I'm close to securing some property here in central Florida for buying and selling used cars. Been a dream of mine for a long time. Would love to have a scrap yard some day. Keep up the great videos.
Walmart Fast & Furious special. Used to be a dime a dozen in my town until they traded them for their Subaru Legacy's with chopped exhaust and universal rims
I wouldn't mind having that Civic. I'm 18 and I need something to drive back and forth to school and work and that thing would be perfect! (If it only it was a stickshift..)
Well damn Jay. This was one of the most entertaining things I've seen all week 👌 You had me dying laughing at the defrost and climate control 😂 too funny
Don’t crush it. I had a 2000. Ran great at 311,000 when I bought it. Drove it for a year & sold it. It’s still running. I would buy another one. Love that generation.
I don't think that's a tweaker car. . First of all, it has over a half a tank of gas in it. . And they wouldn't have replaced the Overflow bottle. They would have just kept adding water. . In my humble opinion
I owned one of its luxurious Canadian twins in the form of a '98 Acura EL 1.6 with the d16y8 Lil baby vtec .. Even tho it was autotragic the damn thing was great to drive and super comfy. Also you can't beat that Honda starter noise.
I've got a 97 Accord Wagon. . It's kind of crappy to and unfortunately, it's an automatic. . But it's my daily driver and dead reliable. . I never skim on the maintenance. . But the paint and interior is getting fairly weak.
The mechanic shop i go to has a 96 i think civic with a 5 speed but its been wrecked in the front but was wondering how hard it would be to throw it in a pro 4 dirt race
This car, here in Brazil, coasts aprox US$ 2000.00, in razoable condition, manual or automatic. But the Brazilian versions, was equiped whti all electrical windows, and tacomether in dashboard, since basic/simple version. This is very simple, but is mechanical is good, already the body is ugly. Cosmethic problems, easy solution So, he is funniest car. Ideal to play
Hell I would buy it and go junkyards and get all parts and make it good again and things that it was missing butt 500 I bet this junkyard didn't pay 500 for that car when it came in . But who knows .
I work for honda A Honda civic never dies people love the civics I cant tell u how many I sold its freaking crazy and I have a civic similar to yours I have a 98 Honda civic LX I use as a crash derby car lol
@@MXguy95 I wont argue my dude, but i find civics just to be a little more torquey and fun to drive. Not to mention the wide aftermarket parts variety worldwide. Bottom line tho, both great cars. Cant go wrong with either👍
Dang why do people do that to vehicles they just junk them especially ones that look decent like this one and drive and run and everything I Just Junk them for no reason when they could have just sold them . Unless doesn't have a title but hell still. Gezz people just give up or don't care . Gonna junk a vehicle that came in running and driven damn
I agree, that would make someone a good beater car. But what about doing a little work to it and selling it at a higher price? I'm guessing that as common as those are, you've probably got a hood for it at the yard, and I'd fix the exhaust leak and the sketchy upper rad hose...sell it for $1,200
After jay said it’s worth $300.00 then he says it’s for sale for $500.00 lol. Is that the junkyard markup price? Not that I’m complaining, a running driving Honda for 500 bucks that isn’t all dented up and rusted out isn’t bad.
There is something that I just love about the sound the starter makes in that Era of Hondas.
Thought it was just me lmao. I have a '99, reminds me of a motorcycle. The 94-97 Accords had similar-sounding starters too.
Yeah theyre very unique. When I hear it I know.
Ret det det VROOOOOOOM
@@pod9363 who else herd this comment in there head
Typical old civic. Rode hard, put away wet and still runs like a top.
It deserves to be rescued even if it’s a base civic with an auto
This is the most Civic review of the most Civic, Civic that ever Civicd, i love it.
That beeping sounded like my kitchen timer. Thought my cake was done baking.
my microwave timer
“And then you *floor it* “ as a Honda owner that’s pretty accurate
Hold On Not Done Accelerating > HONDA
@@newjerseybill3521 xD this made my day

All late 90’s civics have that distinct smell and the beep is very nostalgic.
I remember that beep from my moms 03 odyssey

watchingitallhere on an auto?? 😂
300k just getting broken in ..
That radiator hose is terrifying. One freeway drive away from exploding.
Now THAT is a Beater!! Why wouldn't the previous owner not sell it for $500 instead of junking it?
Right

You scratched and won! A beautiful 1997 Honda Civic! Congratulations! Keep playing for more chances!
Its Probobly a VP which is pretty much below base, no options or anything
VP = Value package for reference

Walmart Fast & Furious special. Used to be a dime a dozen in my town until they traded them for their Subaru Legacy's with chopped exhaust and universal rims
i would take a legacy over a civic with a wide smile
Ain’t gonna lie that civic is real tempting to get lol

Cant wait to buy it from you so i can chop the rest of the exhaust off and floor it to the gas station at 3 AM

The budget fart can, just chop the cats haha.
New lights, rattle can touch up, fix door panel, and clean her out.
It's got the halfway bumble bee exhaust......rev it high and listen to it pop!😂😂
meh. change the bulged out rad hose, muffler cement the cat leak, and then drive er until it falls apart.
My dad used to have a blue 96 lx 5 speed but he junked it a few years ago 😕
The scratch off civic. The poor man's powerball winner. Love those year civics.

10th digit of the VIN is the year 0 through nine is 2000 - 2009 before and after that it was alphabetical so a Z would be 1999, an A is 2010

I love Honda! they run forever and easy to work on typically
the reason the interior lights do not work is
the dimmer switch.

the k frames on these civics can rot out that's why you don't see them in the northern states.
Okay yeah you got me when you was checking the year. Horrible noise
Does your yard resale cars/trucks brought in to scrap? I forget where you located I keep thinking spartanburg or greenville
I got my first car from theTurd Lot from a Junkyard it was a 1979 green Granada 2door it was an Auction car back in 1990.
