- Jigging JAW JACKER Ice Fishing for Rainbow Trout and Brook Trout Tips and Information.
Even at the end of winter these shallow mid Lake structures covered with dead or dying weeds will still produce great action for spring trout fishing. The organic matter on the bottom attracts a lot of insects and provides cover for smaller baitfish that the trout might eat.
These high points can be all day hot feeding zones and fish criss-cross the structure or run its edges during the day from their deep water hideouts.
These spots can be tricky to find on an ice covered lake, so it helps if you make mental note or GPS marks of the locations in the summer.
If you've never fished the lake before I sometimes get clues of these spots if the lake can be seen well on satellite imagery. They sometimes show up quite well.
Takes a little drilling to find these spots, but well worth the effort.
In this Video trout took a 7mm @circle_tackle tungsten jig and shrimp. I had it hanging under a @jawjackerfishing Jigging Jaw Jacker.
Keep these spots in mind next time you hit the ice.

When the deadstick just isn't turning enough heads the constant jigging motion of the Jigging JawJacker can really help improve your odds most days.
If the temperatures are mild then this will work best. Otherwise at really cold temps there is ice build up on the line and sometimes sets itself off. You have to make the rounds when cold to clear the ice.
As you can see I usually do very well catching trout of all shapes and sizes. Using small @circle_tackle tungsten jigs. Tip with bait and ready to drop.
I use a sonar to get the placement of the jig just right in the water column. My Marcum comes in very handy for this.

Thank you for sharing video with us
Thanks for watching I appreciate it. I think I stopped making vids because I was tired... down and out with the state of our lockdowns. Dampered my mood. Getting back to life is good.
Wow! That was cool footage at the end when it spit up all those scuds!
Thanks, yeah I always like seeing what happens!
Thanks for the enjoyable video. Looks like it was a lot warmer than our ice fishing trip today!!🎣🥶
Yeah Spring fishing can be so warm I love it. Windy though usually.
Love your videos DR. Truly helpful and entertaining as well! I am heading up merrit area for my first ice fish this year and am looking to target some nice trout if you have any lakes such as this one you would like to share that would be amazingly helpful!
Good luck! There are many. They all have nice trout in them! Check Go Fish BC for the stocking information. It is really helpful and then check if the lakes are open for ice fishing.
Thanks for your content Brandon. Do you use fresh shrimp for bait? Is the shell on? Thanks
Just the cooked cocktail shrimp ring shrimp. No shell.
Are you using something to keep your holes from freezing over, looking for something that works
Nope, I just clean the ice out. In this video the temperature was above freezing so no ice forms. Best when temps are milder about negative 10. Otherwise it freezes up too fast. I saw one the pumps the water and seems to work well.
So glad you are back Amazing fishing videos perfect channel name HAVAGChristmas CYU
