I am actually impressed with the script. I mean, this is one of the rare drama in which the villain shows all his evil side, his brutal murders and all, yet you feel sorry for the character, and you see hope in him, you want to support him despite all tht he do. I think the both writer and shin shun rok did an amazing job

Because of this reason he can never be with Sunny, also all the murders. I have a feeling he'll end up either dying to save Sunny which will redeem his character for killing her mom/for attempting to kill Sunny herself or he will have to go to jail for all the murders he's committed.

She's upset because her mother was sacrificed to save someone who still continued to kill other people and live a bad life. Think about it, her mother dying instead of him got more people killed. that acting tho,made ppl feel pity for the emperor. he was made lots of sins, choose the wrong time to fall in love with his own wife....his mother was the one whose made him become an monster..his father too. can't blame sunny if he blame the emperor in this state for her lost. but as a mother my self, i will do anything to save the life of my own kid. something that i will never know before i became a mother. in this case, its not the emperor's fault, but he just didn't know how to say something nice. tragic is when someone try to change, but all of his mistake won't allowed them to do so.

Omg this drama was so good. I love seeing female characters reach their breaking points and screaming in absolute anguish. They always say the most powerful words, they always become stronger after that breaking point. I always tear up too 😭 Also that soundtrack is so good
People think that saving hyuk is understandable when the empress dowager steal the blood that was meant for sunny's mother. What the hell? Like i understand a mom would go to a certain degree to save her son at any cost but not as far as becoming a horrible inhumane person. When he know the truth that his mother is evil, his first wife truely love him, he will feel so sad and angry in same time. He maybe will act more cruely and take revenge to his own mother. I hope it's never happen. I don't want he end with kill his mother or die lonely. I hope he enter the jail and start his new life. Became comoner and try to trust and love another.

Human beings can be hypocritical when certain situations are not directed at them but toward someone else. When I see people saying the emperor is a good guy..the only problem is his mother, I shake my head cos I know if they were really in Sunny's shoes, they would even disregard the police and go out for him themselves. When the emperor knocked over the bodyguard's mother, tampered with the CCTV and buried a person's mother and family out in the bush, was his mother the director of the scene/when he deceived a young lady that he loved her when he was just using her as alibi..to cover his tracks. If you were in Sunny's shoes and discovered you were never loved and just someone who's been living a lie in her marriage, I bet you'd still be in love with the emperor. I mean he didn't kill Sunny's mother he was going to die and his mom stole the blood that was supposed to save Sunny's mom and gave it to him he really didn't know until the brother brought it up and killing Na Wang Sik mom was an accident if Min Yu Ra never hut her with a brick in the back of the head and push her in front of a moving car and he accidentally hit her when he should have called the police or take the lady to a hospital instead of doing what he did. I blame all this on the mother she keeps manipulating him to kill for her and he was so dumb to actually do it 😒😒it's all the moms fault

Actually she’s right in this case. Listen carefully, her words were he took her Mother’s chance to live only to hurt others. She was not angry coz of her mother’s death but rather how her sacrifice was meaningless when Lee Hyuk only lived to hurt and killed others. That was the main reason of her anger, not her mother’s chance to live was stolen.

I can't hate Huyk anymore :(( it's true that he has killed people for his own good, he is cruel but at the same time he was the son being abused by his father and has his mom uses him as a doll to get what she wants. People think that saving hyuk is understandable when the empress dowager steal the blood that was meant for sunny's mother. What the hell? Like i understand a mom would go to a certain degree to save her son at any cost but not as far as becoming a horrible inhumane person. Sunny's family had it as hard and they accepted that their mom couldnt be saved but justice did them wrong. Why do you guys have to side with lee hyuk to this degree? To me yeah he's a pitiable person but the fact wont change that he's still a coward even when he's an emperor. He blindly accuse his late wife and killed her out of stupid jeaolusy. It's messed up. Many of the comments on this comment section are messed up beyond description. It's not okay to sacrifice someone else's life for your child's. There is something called "human rights" and violating them is grounds for imprisonment. If this had become public, the Imperial family would've had to abdicate the throne. It was/is a crime. He love the empress so much and because it in ep 31, he said to his mother that he never love Sunny so his mother couldn't harm her family. When his mother want to separated him from Yura, he never said that. He never really want to save Yura.

I can't hate Huyk anymore :(( it's true that he has killed people for his own good, he is cruel but at the same time he was the son being abused by his father and has his mom uses him as a doll to get what she wants. Huyk really loved his wife but then it was him who killed her, and then he fell in love with Sunny but afraid of losing her like how he did with his ex-wife. :((((( I'm very amazed at how Shin Sung Rok plays this role, twisted and complicated, cruel yet miserable.
