So every time you pass the start /finish line you have to hit stop/new lap. Is that correct ?
You would think once you did that after the first lap the computer would know where the stop/finish line was and keep recording lap after lap. It sounds archaic.

Very informative!, but does the subsecond clock have the same functions as the regular sport chrono package?

It does indeed! The subsecond clock allows for a more unique and sophisticated look for your Sport Chrono dial, and it retains all of it's functionality with the analog look.

    Hello! Everyone
I hope to find some knowledgeable answers here, this is the question which gets confusing very quickly.
For a 2018, 718 base cayman with PDK and Sport Chrono package, what is the best procedure to get the fastest 0 - 60 mph launch? The issue comes when not knowing what combinations of buttons to press.
**For all intents and purposes let's considered that you are already depressing the break, floored the gas and the "Launch Control Activated" is already showing on the dashboard. Lets also considered that the launch will be done on a dry, hot surface.
Option 1- Car only on (Sport +) mode..
    OR
Option 2- Car in (Sport + mode) and you press the "Sport Response Button" right before, or a second before you launch (releasing the brake).
    OR
Option 3- Car is in (Sport +) and you press PSM to (Porsche Stability Management Sport - Limited) and Launch.
    OR
Option 4- Car is in (Sport +) and you press PSM to limited (Porsche Stability Management Sport - Limited), in addition you press the "Sport Response Button" right before, or a second before you launch (releasing the brake).
    OR
Option 5- Car is in (Sport +) and you press PSM to (Porsche Stability Management OFF - Completely OFF).
    OR
Option 6- Car is in (Sport +) and you press PSM to (Porsche Stability Management OFF - Completely OFF), in addition you press the "Sport Response Button" right before, or a second before you launch (releasing the brake).
Sorry for the confusion, but I have search videos, the internet and some people use different things. There is no way to tell which one is the best, due to so many variables and inconsistencies. None of them really know how the software makes the car work. They just launch the car several times and get the fastest launch, NOT really knowing what worked and why it worked. They can't explained why a particular combination worked.
Some say to hit only the Sport Response button since it provides over boost keeping the turbo spooled, others deactivate the PSM and others don't, others don't touch anything but Sport + mode, other say launch but do not touch the Sport Response Button. Othes say to only use Sport PSM to allow some tire slippage, other turn it all OFF saying Launch Control has its own parameters.
I do not know the inner workings of the Porsche software to tell any better AND the manual doesn't go into detail at all nor tell what happens when combining any of these buttons.
The manual only shows a chart in which describes that if you use only the Sport Response button it will do the same as Sport + mode but, the transmission will stay in "Sport", unlike in "Performance" mode as when in (Sport + mode), I would think that Sport + alone would be a better option, since performance mode is higher than sport mode.
Last note, I know the manual definition of: What the car does when the Sport Response Button is pressed, the different Sport modes. I know what each of them do, and what they change in the engine, transmission, etc. The issue is what combination is the best for the fastest launch from 0 to 60 mph.
Thanks a lot to any Porsche enthusiast that can shed some light or inside knowledge of how these features would mix together when combining their individual software instructions.
    Thanks and stay safe.

I agree with you 100 percent. Im speccing a 992 out and i cant decide if i want sport chrono or not cause I dont understand EXACTLY WHAT IT DOES. every sales person i ask just says it “makes the car faster”. WTF. Its getting too complicated. If i want faster, all i should have to do is press the right pedal!

@@tjabaley my suggestion to you is get it with the Sporth Chrono package, it’s a must. It does make the car faster, by modifying the turbo boost, the engine response, fuel/ratios and changes the transmission mapping, the gear changes are more abrupt but they are also milliseconds faster.
The manual transmission gives you only 5 benefits with sport chrono, if I remember correctly. With the PDK gives 7, launch control being one of the additional 2 benefits. Hope that helps.

@@mitubevideos Thank you for the succinct explanation. I think I will add it. I’m going base carerra which only comes pdk. I’m not a big fan of that clock sticking up or the steering wheel knob but I guess with a turbo motor it makes a great deal of sense to be able to adjust those parameters when so much of the output is altered by the tune of the motor.

@@tjabaley check how much does the Sport Chrono benefits your particular model. The more powerful the more distinct the benefit on launch control. If it doesn’t make too much of a difference you will have to decide if that little advantage justifies the extra cost.
Generally speaking the more powerful the engine on normal configuration the more advantage will get by shifting faster and by the launch control. That’s something for you to decide. I am glad I helped. And my original question still remains unanswered. Hopefully this gentleman answer it, I wrote to him since he is teaching how it works.
I wouldn’t worry about the clock on the dashboard, because anyone that see your car and knows, will understand that your car has the Chrono package and therefore runs faster, has adjustable suspension, etc. etc.
Again, it all depends on you and how focused you are on performance more than driving leisurely.

The procedure to best launch your Porsche Model requires the Sport Chrono package and the Porsche PDK transmission. To launch your car, turn the driving mode dial to Sport+ Mode, have the transmission in the Drive position, and place your foot firmly on the brake. After placing your foot on the brake, place your foot flat to the floor, and wait until the screen displays Launch Mode activated, then release your foot off of the brake completely to rush off the line in the quickest way possible.

I am still waiting for the maker of this video to answer my question below, since in the original video he is teaching how to use the Sport Chrono and Sport Response button.

@JV Venom Snake Hello! Please see the above response to learn how to best launch your car from 0-60, as the Sport+ mode is the quickest way to launch your car, even with traction control activated. The Sport Response button is not necessary for the quickest launch, as when you are in Sport+ mode, the car is automatically giving you the best response when in a launch.
