  • Thyroid nodules are incredibly common and impact up to 65% of people! The number of people who have thyroid nodules goes up as they age as well leaving a huge number of people with these bundles of joy toward the end of their life.
Why should you care about thyroid nodules? Because sometimes (rarely) they may be cancerous. Luckily, 95% of the time they are benign and don't do much except cause stress to the patient who has them but if they are present, you do need to keep an eye on them to make sure you aren't one of the unlucky few who does end up with thyroid cancer over time.
Because of this problem, many patients with nodules are looking for ways to shrink them so let's talk about how that can happen right now.
Here are 6 potential therapies that may help you reduce the size or eliminate your thyroid nodules but you should be aware that they don't always work! But even if that's the case, it's still always a good idea to use these treatments because they won't hurt and only have the potential to help.
    How to shrink thyroid nodules
    - Keep your TSH healthy and optimal
    - Control and monitor iodine intake
    - Maintain a healthy immune system
    - Control blood sugar and insulin levels
    - Avoid unnecessary radiation
    - Eat lots of fruits and vegetables - People who eat more fruits and vegetables have a lower incidence of nodules

    Dr Childs,
Your advice to not press too hard on your thyroid is good advice. I wish I would have known that before I tried it because it caused me to have a really terrifying reaction resulting in high blood pressure spikes. Then I went for a thyroid ultrasound, and the same terrifying reaction happened after the tech caused me a lot of pain by pressing so hard on my neck during the procedure. Anyway, I’m never doing that again. Especially since Covid, I find going to Western trained, bought and paid for doctors, is harmful to my health!! Thanks 🙏🏻

You're a lot more sensible and caring than most GP's. I was told mine was benign, so nothing needed to be done. Decided to self medicate with NDT because I felt miserable and my doctor refused to give me thyroid med. I lost all my hypo symptoms and the nodule shrunk. I'm on a gluten free diet because I have hashimoto's. None of the Dr's I've ever seen in my lifetime were interested, so I figured it out myself from reading my levels. I had antibodies over the optimal amount and they were like: "Oh, that's OK. You're fine." Even though I was really sick and had major fatigue.

2003 I became very ill due to a friends insistance I finally convinced my Dr. to check my thyroid... when results came back he claimed the labs were so extremely out of whack that he wanted me to wait for 3 weeks and he would redo the labs...but I was too sick to wait and now I was in a thyroid storm... the doc sent me to an internist that admittedly knew nothing whatsever about thyroids.. my thyroid was putting out over 5 times what is should have been... he put me on Methymisole which totally collapsed my immune system and wound up in the hospital in isolation for 2 wks while the doctors tried to restore my white blood cells...my doctor wanted me to have my thyroid removed or to take radioactive pills to kill it... I refused and stopped going to doctors... took a year to start feeling better...then last July I finally had my thyroid removed in the midst of a thyroid storm with severe congestive heart failure... had been extremely high thyroid for more than 20 yrs... enlarged my heart to twice the size..and now they found that my thyroid was covered in nodules. ...I am now on Levothyroxine 130 mcg presently but it is not enough... feeling drugged tired most of the day.. have gained a lot of weight and am still shaky .. this is just not working for me... my Endrocrinologist is useless... in fact tells me she does not need to hear how I am feeling and the changes I have gone thru.. she has the labs and that is all she needs..I stopped going to her and just have an internist prescibing meds for me... and now that I have moved I have no one... still picking up the refills from the Drs. last prescription... not sure how long that will last.... truth be told I would much rather be high thyroid again, at least I could function ... My question is what would be the dose of Armour equal or more than what I am taking?

I had a partial thyroidectomy 7 years ago and have a nodule on the right side. I’m not on medication but I feel the nodule sometimes around my menstrual cycle. Although, I’ve been feeling it a bit more lately. I’ve had it biopsied 4 times and one test came back %60 positive for cancer and that was 3/4 years ago. I’ve only had it scanned twice since then everything checked out fine. I’ll probably have it checked out again soon. I’d hate to have my thyroid removed!! ;(

In my experience, DIET IS PROFOUNDLY IMPORTANT in helping to shrink and manage nodules.
I suspected I had a thyroid problem for approximately 13 years before finally getting diagnosed, 8 of those years were spent constantly asking to be tested and when I finally was tested and diagnosed, I was so ill that I couldn’t walk, hold or grasp things, and felt like I was on the verge of congestive heart failure. Also, by this time I had a significant nodule on the right lobe of my thyroid. I didn’t know what it was until my doctor told me, and all I knew was that it was bothersome and occasionally hurt to swallow and flared if I ate certain foods. I was sent to have it scanned, reported the results to my doctor, and she strongly urged me to have radiation. I’m the type of person that will try a more natural approach before anything else. My doctor gave me 6 months to try to reduce the size of the nodule on my own. My approach was a change in diet. I took notes on what aggravated my nodule, what caused it to become inflamed when it was not. Soy was probably the biggest offender. Another thing I did was eliminated, to the best of my ability, chemicals. Chemicals in food, household products, toiletries, etc. Chemicals are hard to avoid as they’re in nearly everything nowadays, and it’s quite a lot of work but our health is worth the effort. I began making my own milk, my own toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant and stopped using aluminum foil. These are just a few examples of what I’ve been doing since 2015. I went back 6 months later and had another scan and biopsy. They sent me home and sent the results to my doctor saying that the nodule had shrunk so much it was “insignificant” and was no need for the biopsy. I’ve kept it this way since. Know your agitators, what causes inflammation, and eliminate them. Doing these things upped my immune system which is another win.
These things worked for me but may not work for everyone. It’s imperative, however, to be in tune with your body, take notes, and work with your provider to find what is best for you. Having said that, it never hurts to give our bodies a fighting chance by eliminating to the best of our ability any inflammatory offenders.

Not the first time I’ve heard that about making my own milk. I have a machine that helps me make my own almond, cashew, oat, and coconut milk. Before I had the machine, it took a lot longer, and was harder on my carpel tunnel because I had to squeeze the liquid in a nut milk bag. Now I’m spoiled because the machine does all of the work.
I eliminated dairy from my diet and only drink nut milk as dairy is an inflammatory. It changed everything in regards to my body‘s response to inflammation. Dairy free, sugar free, gluten free, soy free, and clean eating was a total game changer in major health improvement, nodule reduction and overall thyroid health. 🙂👍

Try natural sun lights in the mornings before it gets hot and while there do some deep breathing exercises. All serology tests' are normal (the VA will not do RT3 or any of the antibodies). First nodule discovered in 2011 and now have 6 2-2.7 cm each hypo and isoechoic, heterogenous (2 have ill-defined margins) findings on ultrasound. Right side had none and now have several small ones, isthmus is fine. The pain coming from the thyroid radiating into my neck, shoulder, the lower jaw, inner ear and limited neck rotation prompted me to investigate further. Had a cat scan done with contrast, L thyroid measures close to 6 cm with a volume of 33 ml and now is under my L clavicle along with new tiny nodules appearing that Ultrasound did not see. I'm at a loss bc the Endocrinologist doesn't want to do anything until Dec with a FNA, my quality of life is poor. Is this a normal protocol? Ah, yes, I'm a retired Rad tech that held patients under live fluoroscopic exams AND C-arm (again, live fluoroscopic) in the surgical suites~thyroid shields are hot commodities, I would buy my own but, they were always stolen. Low iodine, low selenium for long periods of time. Also stress and foods which block absorption or disrupt thyroid function. So gluten, soy, raw brassica like cabbage.
Thyroid traps iodine by enlarging and nodules. The breasts do the same thing and nodules in the breast are also caused by low iodine. Enlarged prostate can be low iodine. Iodine also concentrates in the skin.

This makes me upset because my dentist for many years always pushes x-rays. I've never had a cavity before, and my x-rays have always been fine. I started to become suspicious after their nurse would always make mistakes when taking the x-rays, and like clockwork I would have to re-do it (I wonder if insurance is charged more? or their nurse is in on a scheme? Either way I got very bad vibes from that lady) So, I started saying no to x-rays for 3 years straight, and they started treating me different. Like the dentist would give me a speel about the importance of x-rays every time, and i Just felt a different vibe from the whole team. They are a husband and wife team, and at my last appointment back in feb 2022 the wife told me i must have an x-ray, and I obliged because it was 3 years since my last. After my x ray, they then starting walking me to another room to take a full mouth xray of all my teeth, I said woah woah you didn't mention you would be taking two x rays this makes no sense, why take the first set, if your just gonna take on of all my teeth anyway? I felt like walking out of the dental office right then and there. I let them clean my teeth which is all I cared about. That was my last appointment, now I'm just traumatized about dentists. And now i'm upset because I realized the x-ray protection they gave me did not cover my thyroid! And my doctor this year discovered a thyroid nodule, confirmed via ultrasound! :( I'm determined to shrink it! Just had to vent, because I didn't make the connection with my criminal dentist and this nodule before now.

All of my childbearing years the dentist never protected my thyroid with a shield…after having my right thyroid removed because it was enlarged then finding out my left thyroid had a nodule on it I always cover my thyroid when getting exrays. Now I’m wondering if all those dental exrays caused the enlargement and nodule. (Had the surgery 23 years ago and nodule is being monitored every year with blood work and sonogram. I’m on a small dose of synthetic hormones since surgery…so far, so good)

Lol I appreciate your venting. I had three nodules and always told the dentist that they were redoing X-rays too much and couldn’t the tech be trained better 😂 . Later I was pestered again and the technician didn’t put a cover on me at all and I’m still mad about it and get super nervous that I’m going to be cornered about X-rays again. Now I have four nodules and it could be for a number of reasons, but I’ve always expressed my concerns about having nodules and they just blow me off. Meanwhile when the Machine goes on they run out of the room. I’m just still p’od that she didn’t cover me and when I told her she didn’t apologize and explained how other things have higher radiation ☢️.

My dentist recently added several "new" x-rays he needed to take (besides just the bitewings) in order to evaluate my teeth. I have been going to him for eons without any problems what-so-ever. I have declined in the past and pointed out my past dental history is quite uneventful and I am low risk for cavities. He obliged, but did not appreciate it. (It's all about the money, never about your actual health.) So...time to find a new dentist. There is a biological dentist I have gone to in the past who I love. He is not local and is out-of-network with my dental ins. But that's how it has to be. I'm not going to endanger my health to save a few dollars.

Constant elevated anti TPO and anti Tg is the real cause of developing nodules. This is a fact Dr
Childs. Reducing or dropping these two anti bodies will greatly help in reducing the risk of thyroid nodules. Elevated anti TPO and anti Tg is the primary cause of inflammation in the thyroid. This is the case of hashimoto's thyroiditis and the gut should be given priority to be healed because of leaky gut that produces these anti bodies i mentioned

Look up radio frequency ablation. That is the modern way to address it where they go in with the small needle and then they reduce it. It takes about a half hour and you go home the same day

It was examined that I have a thyroid nodule and my doctor said it shouldn't be affecting my thyroid functions as like what is explained in the video. But, why am I experiencing hypothyroidism? Weight gain, fatigue, depression, dry skin. Can someone please do enlighten me.
Ps. I wouldn't just make up stories for feeling those symptoms😕 It's disrupting my life, I'm just 19 years old, then one day I woke up with those unnormal thing going on with my body.

    Thyroid nodules = goitre?

    • @4ncrblz
      @4ncrblz 10 місяців тому +2

Goiter means the thyroid or thyroid nodules are enlarged and it is visible at the front of your neck. Some goiters are localized, and look like a ball or little beanbag at the front of your neck. Others look more like swelling, like the front of your neck looks really fat, but it isn't fat. Goiter means your thyroid needs to be examined and you need blood tests to see what your thyroid production is doing. But it can be very large without any nodules at all, and it can be small but have multiple nodules, and everything in between. It always means there's something wrong, but what is wrong can be a variety of things.
