Loving these videos! Thanks for all the info you provide and tactics you show. I'm going out for my first yr or trapping this yr in hopes of helping our turkey population come back!
@@terrancebaby4151 I wish I had some available for sale, but unfortunately right now I don’t have the availability to produce enough to supply myself and others. Maybe one day.
Why do you not keep it in the Coyote Circle instead of using the outside edge of the bed area would you want all of the sent to your advantage? I have seen others use the same area over and over again are you trying to avoid erosion control of the field is that why you move a trap set? Can you do this in a wheelchair? Sincerely! R.S.V.
So if I go to the edge of the circle I’m still taking full advantage of the scent in the immediate area. Sometimes I do keep it in the same spot, just depends on the damage to the ground from the animal fighting. I wouldn’t say it’s erosion control exactly, more so how much I have to level out and spiff up after a catch. And, if you are able to reach the ground comfortably, I don’t see why a wheelchair would hold you back from trapping.
I see you spittin so my question is how much should I worry about scent ? I don't touch the traps bare handed only with rubber gloves I wear my rubber boots and I spray down most of my traps are set out in the woods boots on the ground I'm new to trapping like this but ain't had no luck yet on coyote I am setting on signs and got close a few times they missed the pan but left a big track to tease me
@Stephen Hiott some of the MB’s do have offset jaws but they’re not mine. I use a friend’s traps when I have a lot to set and he uses OS jaws. I do NOT like them and I miss some animals too. All my traps are close jaw.
@@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors thanks man. Glad to see an ole boy making videos around trapping in the Lowcountry. Really nice job, and thanks for the tip. Learned a lot from that last one
Damn I started but only bought 2 offset jaws.... just to try them.... wish I saw this before lol I did buy some #2 dukes.... they are closed jaw but they seem cheap made
@Timothy MacDonald I think it potentially can, but I dip and spit near my sets all the time. Obviously I try not to and certainly never spit directly on the set. But I still catch coyotes even when I do. I chew straight blend too, so it’s not like I’m spitting wintergreen or mint flavored Copenhagen spit.
@@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors I'm running 3-3.5. We do have bobcat here. I caught a squirrel in a Duke 650 this morning, both front feet. Let him go, he was fine.
Yes. I chew Copenhagen Straight and spit all over the place. Doesn’t seem to bother them as far as I can tell. I catch coyotes and other critters all the time on sets where I spit.
@Airguns extreme - this time of year I can’t legally do anything with the fur because we require special permits to trap out of season. Our normal fur season is Dec1-Mar1
There is no video showing a coyote stepping on a loose jaw and digging it up but I keep hearing it. I don’t doubt it but like to see evidence of it for once.
Correct. Our fur here in my area is practically worthless on the market. I am paid to trap for predator control out of season for several reasons. I do save fur when the regular season is in. It took me a long time to get used to not skinning everything I catch, but it’s part of the job I guess.
During the off-season, you are hired by the farmers to trap on their land why you are not allowed to keep the fure. I can see why you can't normally but if you are hired to do a job for the farmer the farmer gives you the fure or what do you do. Sincerely! R.S.V.
It’s not up to the landowner as to whether I keep the fur or not. That’s a state law set by the department of natural resources. They allow out of season trapping under special permits but we aren’t allowed to keep the fur for that period. It’s not worth anything during that time anyway. It’s more for predator control than for fur
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. Great tips on changing the presentation. Stay safe, and God bless
Appreciate all the information, enjoy watching all the videos.

The Ron Jeremy of trapping! Keep the videos coming, man. Great content.
😂 thanks
@@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors I saw one of your videos where you said you have your own lures and baits. Where can I purchase at?

Keep the videos rolling 👍
I'd like to see an episode of catches and going back over the set you caught them in. Maybe analyze which foot goes in.
Great video!! Very informative. New subscriber for sure!
I'm also planning on trying CJ's Punch Bait (shad or monster) (Stink bait) - It's cheap, available, and should work as a bait and lure!
Get a life

Hey how much pressure do you have your pans set to?
2 - 2.5lbs. Maybe a little light but I’m in it to catch everything.
Do you use offset jaws on your MBs? What are your thoughts performance wise between OS and closed jaws? I seem to miss a lot of fox with OS jaws

What state do you trap? Just curious. Awesome video.
South Carolina
Does spitting near the set bother the animals at all?

Are you honestly asking that?
@@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors I'm a extra long cut, or smooth hickory man myself.
How would a man get some of your lure and bait to try in Louisiana?
How about a indept video on pan covers what you use and why?
Do ya use a 22 or cane for dispatching? I was raised with the cane method.
Yes. I carry a single action 22LR revolver
How much pan tension are you running? (I'm sure if you've said, I'll find the video)
About 2.5lbs give or take. No more than 3 if you still want to catch fox and bobcat
@@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors I'm running 3-3.5. We do have bobcat here. I caught a squirrel in a Duke 650 this morning, both front feet. Let him go, he was fine.
Tight chains from South Georgia
Can you shut him up?How does it stay anchored to the ground?
There’s a small piece of metal at the end of the chain that drives into the ground and acts as an anchor
Did you spit by your set ?
Yes. I chew Copenhagen Straight and spit all over the place. Doesn’t seem to bother them as far as I can tell. I catch coyotes and other critters all the time on sets where I spit.
Anyone know how to hide the red flash on a trail cam and it still detect movement? Can it be done?
Not sure. That’s one reason I don’t mess with cameras on my sets. Too worried it’ll hurt more than help
What do you do with your fur.

What I wouldn't give to not have to mess with pan covers like you.....
Shouldn’t have to mess with any of this. Coyotes are such a big part of our ecosystem, they are needed.
Everything needs kept in check

How do you charge for a job like that
A flat daily rate based on the acreage and trap total
Previous fur trapper here. I don't get trapping out of season. I hate to see them wasted. I assume predator control.

Well I do.
