How To Build A Simple Radiator Cover - DIY

A video showing how to build a bespoke or custom radiator cover.
The size of radiator cover we needed was not available to buy off the shelf, so we decided to build our own.

How did you screw the bracket to the wall? Looks like it would be hard to get anything to do it with the frame already assembled?

This is a great idea! I am going to try this for the in-wall type baseboard radiators I have. Question: How did you attach the top? Screws, or just glue?

The top is just sitting (not fixed) on the frame with three small pieces of MDF attached at the bottom to prevent it from sliding either way.

I used MDF primer and basic matt white water based paint. It's been more than a year with no heat related deterioration signs.

No, not necessarily better. I don't have a tool for biscuit joints, so used a different method.

Great idea. Just wondering what thickness of MDF board did you use? Is there any issue with it warping or any burning smell with the heat from the radiator?

I used 18mm MDF. No warping to date nor any smells. I think majority of off-the-shelf radiator covers are made from MDF.

It is a medium size radiator, but installed too high for an off-the-shelf radiator cover.

I used small 90 degree corner brackets. One side attached to a wall, the other side to the radiator cover.

What size router did you use

I've used below size router bit:
R=9.5mm
Dia. 28mm
Cut=15mm
