      @@ArtofTaxidermy Thanks for responding, what I wanted to ask you is with which product do you preserve the skin of the birds? Thank you

      Pedro Segura borax.

    • @ArtofTaxidermy
      @ArtofTaxidermy  4 роки тому +1

      Pedro Segura all bird skins are extremely fledged and washed in 2-3 baths of heady soap solution. Then with fine powdered borax.

    When using the birds skull instead of an artificial head, how do you ensure there is no rot? What products do you use to preserve the skull and do you ever get yellowing on the feathers from the oils in the skull? Can you do a video explaining that process? Great video as always!

    • @ArtofTaxidermy
      @ArtofTaxidermy  4 роки тому +4

      if you clean them very good, leave no meat or brain on the skull, if you put some borax on it before you do the clay work it will be totaly fine. Im putting together a video on how to preserve the skin. stay tuned.
      and no the bird skull doesnt have much grease in it and it wont affect the feathers...
      A video will go up on how to use the real skull. cheers

      bird skins wont rot when dry.. we soak them in some chemicals to bug proof them anyway.

    Do you kill your animals just to taxidermy them? I’m just curious

    • @ArtofTaxidermy
      @ArtofTaxidermy  3 роки тому +2

      good question Thanos... all the raptors you see have been killed accidentally, road kill, electrocution and window strikes, the game birds like pheasants and grouse are harvested by hunters, they usually harvest them for food but get the pretty ones preserved and mounted. All the big game heads like deer or elk are all hunted by hunters and the meat consumed and the skin preserved.
