"Inviting us into her impressive grounds with charming personal anecdotes, expert advice, and hundreds of stunning photographs-printed on two different specialty stocks-Bunny Williams illustrates every aspect of the gardens surrounding her eighteenth-century manor house in Northwestern Connecticut in different lights and seasons.
A popular stop on the Garden Conservancy circuit, Williams’ property boasts a parterre garden,year-round conservatory, extensive vegetable garden, orchard, woodlands, an aviary with exotic fowl, and a rustic poolside Greek Revival-style folly. Each section of the garden is accompanied by adirectory of featured plants-from native ferns and succulents to a wide variety of flowering specimens.
Throughout, the revered designer shows us how she incorporates nature in her interiors: in stunning floral arrangements, unique tablescapes, and elaborate holiday vignettes-where a rescued bird’s nest commands as much attention as a prized collector’s item. Whether in the intentional juxtaposition of high and low, or the considered placement of a garden bench to appreciate a particular view, home and garden together reflect the epitome of Bunny Williams’ inimitable style."
I purchased all of the items for the succulent wreath a Hobby Lobby.

I remember reading a story about a homeowner in Charleston, S.C., after hurricane Hugo, in 1989. They lost an ancient magnolia tree, which had dominated their townhome garden for who knows how long. It was heartbreaking, but suddenly the garden was filled with sunlight, and new opportunities. Such is life. My mother has been gone for many years. but when I sold the family home in San Diego in October of 2012, I gathered every rose I could find in her garden, (in San Diego, there was a fair number to choose from that late in the season) placed them in an old galvanized bucket, and took them to her grave. I took a photo of it in place, and look at it on Mothers Day. Now I have a huge rose garden in Michigan, way too challenging, but I've had adults literally jump for joy like children when it's in full bloom. Sorry to ramble, blame it on Bunny, and a bit of gin. I love both! And roses!

      🤣😂🤣🤣🤣 What a delightful story...
I, too, have lost a couple of 200 yr. old trees from my yard... It certainly does dampen ones spirit!
But, absolutely, time heals and the newfound light does allow us the opportunity to pave the way for another adventure...
Unexpected change certainly encourages us to buck up and cultivate new growth in every aspect of our lives...

LOVELY !!! Bunny's Garden is her real passion. It shows. You make it look so so easy! (I can see where one may be quite frustrated in working with the mini flower pots! Glad you said that and that the wreath project turned from Beast to Beauty) It is perfect at the potting shed door! I am not a succulent fan but in seeing how lovely yours turned out, I may have to try making one too. Right now, I am in the process of weeding the rose garden and that is taking the patience right out of me. Sending all best wishes from the Golden Isles, Bren

Love this book and your fabulous presentation! I share with you and Bunny the emotions of garden loss. My last house was torn down by the new owners but that did not trigger the emotions like the loss of my plantings and trees. My beautiful white birch, rhododendron's, viburnums and more sacrificed for an over-sized house. I worked with a wonderful landscape designer at my new home that was a literal blank slate. I laughed every time he said, "you just want what you had"...yep - and then some!😉

Tis the season to enjoy our yards/gardens. Upon our return home we noticed the kitchen color was a little off from the original, but it's very close to Hollingsworth Green by Benjamin Moore.
