Thanks for the new video Ben, it’s fun planning for spring this time of year! On my balage, I’ve found it best to lay the windrow wider with the haybine. Let the top wilt/dry then kinda invert the windrows when combining them with the rake and wilt the bottom. Makes for a more consistent drying. Also, if plenty of wrap is used I’ve found you can bale hay quite dry. Sorghum and rye need a little more moisture for a good fermentation. Regardless I bet they eat that stuff like candy!!
Not sure of your fertilizer options, but I use 5-14-42 on our 75% alfalfa 25% grass fields. Has worked well for me. That way the alfalfa still gets what it needs to compete and the grass gets a little extra nitrogen it needs as the alfalfa stand dwindles.
The crop planting plan sounds promising to me. The hay price thing is just supply and demand. You can feed it or sell it. Who knows. Have you considered getting your hay tested? More and more people are doing this to see if what they see is accurate. I heard the cost is reasonable. It is interesting how much variation you have this year in the hay you are feeding out. I hope the beef price get higher and you benefit. I will pay more and not bitch if it helps farmers like you.
I'm a day late on your video, I ❤ your energy on how you juggle farm work with work. ❤ Your channel.

Great video Ben
Yeah the mud in northern Pa has been around all winter. Not enough snow to say so
Good video
Looking forward to another Spring and Summer, hopefully a more normal weather pattern.

It is going to hurt The UP business northern WI because there is no snow. That's not the economy's fault, that is, weather..

I would try to make your baleage drier, makes nicer bales and fewer of them. Doesn’t make sense to wrap up water if you don’t have to
Good Morning Ben,Ed from Vermont
