  • Thanks to Triumph UK I have had this Trident 660 on loan for a couple of weeks to make some videos and make this review. The Trident is clearly aimed at the A2 market and is the cheapest bike Triumph make, the question is, Is it any good?
    Regarding the tank I did not realise the old trident can with a rounded tank in some years hence why I said it looked more like the Bonneville.

    Great review; just this channel and 44Teeth kind of showed what this bike is best at... keeping it on the boil and going at the stopper through the first 3-4 gears. Most people just open the throttle at 3k and say that it is sluggish, well not all bikes are SDRs and pulling from 2k rpm! Thanks for the great review again!

    ABS cannot be switched OFF (despite Manual saying it can). TC can be switched OFF though. You mention is it a basic bike, but it’s actually got more tech ( some are options) than any of its rivals. ABS, TC, TFT, Ride Modes, Bluetooth / Sat Nav / Go Pro integration, and best of all - Quickshifter.
    BTW, TC saved me on poor surfaces…

      Just to say: I have done 149 miles now, and it is brilliant. I was riding in rain mode and it seems to have more power than I will need. I am sure I will get accustomed to it in time.
      Suspension is comfortable and no complaints at all.
      Only negatives I can think of: Just wish it had both headlights on dipped, but to be honest that was a wish before I bought it and I forgot about it when sat on it!
      The headlights on the Striple do Not turn with the forks, bit different, but no problem so far - will need to test it after dark
      Getting insurance for it derestricted was a bit tricky.

    IMO a bike that's fussy to drive down low is very frustrating and leads to resentment. Even if it goes away in the twisties, I feel like 95%+ of your time (not miles, but time on the bike) is in cities, towns, etc. at slow speeds or constant speeds. At least if it's not a weekend bike.
    That triple is definitely a gem though. I had one when I had a Tiger and even in an ADV bike it was a beautiful engine to rev out.

      I would say so as in my opinion as I love smaller engine bikes. I have ridden many thousands and always feel a bit bored as you really can not open them up on the road without risking your licence or even prison.

    I enjoyed your review, thanks but have to say that having viewed 20+ other reviews on the Trident you are the only one to mention the slow speed throttle issue (strange), so have to ask if your bike maybe had a fault.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  10 місяців тому

      I can only go on the bike I had, It may be related to the traction control as I have noticed on a couple of Triumphs that when I pop over a speed bump the TC loses it for a moment.

      The reason the tail is like that is
      European rules about the plate being behind the back wheel. The other way of doing it would be a massive hanger off the tail of the bike. This is only a manufacturer rule once you buy the bike you can change it. 👍

    Are simple bikes better?? ..... hmmmmmmm ... yes at times ... but personally I like having a bike with lots of electronic toys to play with, the character of my bike can be changed through several different separate fuelling and throttle response options with the press of a button ... the TC has 9 different selectable levels depending on how fruity I'm feeling .. the ABS has supermoto mode so I can still have it turned on but also lock the back end up for slidey fun times .... etc etc etc .... or if I want simplicity I can ignore all that stuff and just leave the options alone. Surely it's better to have choices like that rather than none??
