Hi everyone! I hope you've had a great week! And I hope you enjoyed the video! No shade thrown at those who love buying and trying the latest games, but it was really nice to focus on games that have held strong in the storm of games bombarding my awareness. I love these games and any new game must compete with and at least stand alongside them to stay in my collection. What do you think of Bunny Kingdom and Mission Red Planet? Have they fallen out of favour for you, never been played or still stand toe to toe with any new game you play?
Holy Goodness! Your back! Your videos are so gorgeous! I love Bunny Kingdom and will throw down on this game at any time. Never played Mission Red Planet.
I am indeed! And really happy to be! I'm glad you like the videos. I try my best to show each game off so I'm happy to know that they're enjoyed! I feel the same about BK. And MRP actually although I would say MRP is much more brutal! If you get the chance to play it, let me know! Would be interested to see how you think it compares with BK.
I'm new to the hobby and quickly realising that review scores on BGG and YT videos is not a good indication of how much fun everyone will have playing the game. And that's exactly why I love board games, it's the laughter, banter, and discussions that it brings up in a group of people that nothing else compares to. I see a lot of people saying that a game 'has too much luck' and giving a game a lower score. When in fact, a bit of luck can be really exciting, and the best thing about it, is that through luck, my wife and people who are new to games can beat me, which means that they enjoy the game and start asking me to play it again - which means that I get to play board games with people, rather than just myself. If I only considered a 'good game' to be a heavy weight, impossible to teach, three hour long, luckless and ultra-serious campaign where I just stomp on everyone, then I would very quickly have no-one to play with, and not ever get the chance to play the actual game. So thank you for taking this approach and recommending two games that I'm confident my friends will love, and I'll still get that strategic-gamer-brain kick while playing.
You're absolutely right Cozz! If a game gets myself and those at the table chatting, laughing and having a great and memorable time then it has served us well. These two games have done that on practically every play. I love them!
@@jehoba so glad to have you aboard 🎉!! I have plans for plenty of coverage of older games going forward, with some new stuff in there from time to time as well.
Love the production and editing in your videos! And I’m here for the idea of highlighting the “tried and true” games. I’m interested to see what else you have in mind. Subscribed!
Ah thanks! I'm really glad you like the style. I really enjoy filming and editing! I'm glad you're here for the tried and true content. There are so many incredible games I want to cover and chat about! Really happy to have you aboard!
I love your idea to talk about classic games. Many of my favorite content creators have become hype machines and corporate mouthpieces jist previewing new crowdfunding games. I understand that is where the money is, but it doesn't really serve the public very well. Keep up the great work!
I'm pleased you liked it. I love a new game as much as the next person, but it does grate on me how many videos are on games I can't get for ages. I'm quite happy to build excitement around games that have fallen off radars.
Wow, please thank them for me! For some reason I find it hard to imagine people enjoying my vids enough to pass them into others. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm glad it's a series that people might enjoy! So many brilliant games from times gone by that I want to cover 👍 If you get them to the table, let me know how they go.
The only thing that Bunny Kingdom suffers on the table is that scoring part. I play it on boardgamearena and it is much better as scoring done automatically. I wish there was an easier way for scoring.
I totally get that. Like I mentioned, I generally do the scoring up because some of the guys I play with just don't jive with the way it's done. Weirdly, I quite enjoy it.
@@BoardExplored I wish the upcoming third edition would have kept the same steampunk styl, art & design. I'm not a fan at all of the new astronauts. But I mostly thinking, if there will be expansions in future it will not fit with second edition most likely and be made to match the new shiny third edition.
Wait, what?! There's going to be a third edition? I have got to find out more about that! Will be interesting to see if it's worth getting if you already have the second edition. It will also be interesting to see what expansions get added. I've honestly never played it and thought it needed expansions, but I could be pleasantly surprised.
@@BoardExplored I havn't heard anything about expansions but since I have a lot of ideas in my head how one would be able to expand the game and or make spin offs better connected ppl with brighter minds would sooner or later make it happen. ;) But you are right, it do not "need" expansions but there is definitely possibilities for it. =) But yes, do check out the upcoming 3:rd edition. I personaly don't like the art and design road they have chosen but I am happy they will give ppl the chance to get this great game again. =) To be clear, the art is not bad it's just that I think the Steam Punk setting suits it so much better and the astronauts from second edition is just to cute. =)
@1Dreamking I've checked it out and I have to agree with you about the slight theme change. And the astronauts in the second edition are definitely much cuter than the new ones. I'll reserve judgment though!
Mrp is the best! However most people say its the best at high player count, but I prefer ot at 3. Its much less random and arbitrary, much more of actually being able to outplay people basdd on your ready and not pure luck
I totally agree! Although, if I feel able to cope with the chaos, I'd happily accept an offer to play it at 4+. I would probs say no to a 2 player game personally though.
What!? Bunnies don't have kingdoms and don't battle for territories...Have you never read Watership Down! I have pondered over getting BK several times, particularly because it has gone on DEEP discount on the last couple of Amazon Prime Days in the US.
Haha! I actually haven't read it, but I completely assumed that it was purely fictional. Maybe they do duke it out?! 😂 I would absolutely recommend getting it if it sounds like something that might work for you. I love it, but what works for me might not work for you? But if it's cheap, I say go for it!
@BoardExplored Highly recommend reading it, but of course, what works for me might not for you😉 The people I mainly play with don't really like aggressive games or direct conflict, so I don't know how much it would get tabled. Is there a robust solo mode?
@samirjafri191 haha, I'll give it a read if I get the chance. Maybe with my kids. There's no solo mode. 2 player variant often devolves into conflict for me - trashing cards you know the opponent needs. 3-4 has some hate drafting if you let it creep in, but you can certainly go in with the agreement not to hate draft and it would be quite friendly. But it may just happen that you and a friend might just be going for a similar area of the board so there's a little conflict over who can draft those cards first. But there doesn't have to be any take that or aggressive play involved at all 👍

I like this format and the idea of showcasing beloved "older" games.
It was how I stumbled over your channel so... There is that. =)

looking forward to the series, subscribed. Need to get these out to the table soon.
