I have spina bifida so I've had issues with my bowel since birth. I've tried nearly everything. Milk of magnesia, fybogel, metamucil, laxatives, bowel flushing, eating more fibre and vegetables. Nothing worked. Vegetables just bunged me up. I've finally cured my chronic constipation. What I do is eat 5 to 6 pieces of fruit a day and a probiotic yoghurt. Fruit for breakfast and dinner. I will eat whatever i like for lunch. I take two magnesium citrate capsules every day and two digestive enzymes. I'm now going daily or every other day. Before I would go once a week or once every two weeks.
Thank you so much. I will save this. I caretake for an elderly person who had a stroke and she has diabetes. I cannot get her to take all of the things they tell me to give her for her constipation, but I can try some of these things. She will not have much consistency, but let me see if this helps. I have also heard that magnesium works.
I honestly feel so blessed because I have never experienced constipation but while my husband was having chemo he really suffered from it, it looked so painful. I felt so bad for him having to deal with that on top of everything else he was having to go through. I worked with a woman once who was proud of the fact she only had one BM once a week and only just one. I can't even imagine. I have two at least, per day. Nicely formed ... sorry TMI. Even my dogs have great BMs lol, I home cook for them. It's so important to have a clean colon.
I use coconut oil suppositories, and I retain it during the night. I am wearing a pad to catch any leakage that may occur. In the morning, I take a warm water cleansing enema.
All Bran cereal works well too. It would be good along with some prunes. You can mix the All Bran cereal with other cereals for a better flavor. Hope this helps.
Any thoughts on *HOT* coffee mixed with butter? Or those chewable tablets containing Papaya, Pineapple, Kiwi, Mango and Prune Enzymes? For dinner, I've tried a salad followed by oatmeal containing a bit of psyllium powder , chia seeds and flaxseeds,

Some exercise like walking each day works wonders. Some fiber everyday…everyday, should be a great help.

The packaging might give you a base amount, and then you might adjust from there for what works best.

Yes! I try to increase natural fiber in my diet and use Metamucil as often as I remember

Drink a glass of prune juice at bedtime. Works😂
Throw a bunch of green apples and celery in a blender with a bottle of water. Never fails!
