If the GC you went to is anything like the one where I am, it's not unusual to find a pristine wall hanger for a Charvel Super Shredder. The lowest row is primarily Squier & Epiphone, with Fenders & Gibsons above them in the tier of price points. Where they hang the Schecter & Ibanez are as you head towards the stockroom of inventory that remain boxed towards the bathroom.Even the Gretsch guitars hang in that corner of the store. A Charvel, like an EVH is going to be low traffic & touched at $ 700+, even on the lowest hangers. Not that they're bad instruments, but a Charvel, EVH & Gretsch player is a rarer consumer. Guitar Center is going to move Squier & Epiphone simply because GV is where parents are going to get their kid(s) their 1st beginner guitar & that price point is Squier & Epiphone. If I'm looking at Super Shredder 6 strings, Ibanez is probably the brand one identifies with, Schecter is most likely their nearest competition. Charvel is a European (French/France) brand that FMIC owns. EVH I believe is now an FMIC brand after EVH passed away. Might even be like the arrangement Gretsch has, that is the VH iFamily still has final say, but FMIC manages the product line like Gretsch does for that brand. With Gretsch, Fender also owns Bigsby, and FMIC saw that as the opportunity to do a LP style, even a complete Gibson family of Vibrato equipped chambered, semi hollow, hollow body styles without having to start from scratch to make a Gibson scale length like guitar. The Gretsch are 24.6 vs 24.75 Gibson style product line. Close enough for Fender, so umbrella Gretsch under the FMIC brands of guitars. Charvel to me for a Metal Super Shredder is going to be at least 3rd name recognized. And honestly, with Solar & even Rob Chapman Guitars, Charvel may have been around longer, but consumers may have heard of Solar & Chapman more so for the presence of Ola Englund & Rob Chapman as the face of those brands. Charvel for FMIC, seems to be a brand that is presence for Super Shredders that want/prefer a Fender branded Metal guitar. That is they probably steal a sale from the Ibanez or Schecter Metal consumers. With Solar & Chapman as alternatives, Charvel may be ranked at #5 for Metal brand recognition, even though they might be every bit as good as the top 2-4 Metal Shredders.

    I never owned a Charvel!
i've always loved the look and sound of Charvel because I had friends that have owned them, but for some reason never invested in one.
my first parts caster which I still play, was from Rudy's music stop 48th st. nyc. I find it close to a Charvel, in feel. the body and neck were from John Suhr before he had the brand, Suhr guitars. Probably since Charvel and Suhrs get compaired a lot.
i just started playing again in 2024, i had a hiatus from guitar for a few years, do to some health and life, family reasons.
I just bought a 6 guitar rack, so my guitars are always out in back of me in my in home office, this has helped, because they are always available. not in some case in storage in my house where i have to get to them.
I just bought a dream guitar, its not perfect, but ill make it perfect for me. its a replica from China of evh wolfgang 2015 tour relic that eddie was playing on his last tour in 2015. what they called the culmination of years of design mods and his perfect guitar.
I was always a tube guy as far as sound, back in 80s-90s. Amps have come and gone. Since im a computer guy my whole life, ive just invested in Abelton Live, 2 Notes Genome, Neural Amp Modeler, Tonocracy. This is my guitar rig right now.

Amazing. Modelling is so great these days. I use Tonex and pod go. I actually returned the charvel, I hated the distortion pickups and didn’t feel like investing another 300 bucks in new pups.

Congratulations on the new one! I sold my Charvel Pro Mod DK24 a few months ago. Not that it was bad, or because I didn't like it, but it just didn't fit really well with the rest.. Charvel is absolute quality not only for the US models but the Mexican's are really good as well. I just had some problems switching from the Charvel to the others in terms of bending the strings..Last one I bought is an Ibanez ATZ10P (300 euro's under street price) which I customized to be the same as it more expensive counterpart, the Ibanez ATZ100... I think Charvel is a pretty good investment, they keep their value pretty much..

Can confirm that it's a buyer's market. In the last month, I've gotten an Ibanez Prestige and a Charvel Pro-Mod for way less than they've been going for.

Congrats on the new guitar! Beauty! Love the colour too. I got a new guitar today too, but now I have to wait for it to ship, lol. That "like" button on Reverb is dangerous, because you're on the fence, and then all of a sudden they offer you a discount, and you're like... "seems like fate to me!" lol. Enjoy!

@@Stephenmichaelsguitar I got a Gretsch Penguin, limited edition Paisley finish… which is totally not my thing, but I love this for some reason and the guy knocked off over $1000 (from a shop I’ve bought from before too). So I was like… well…

@@Stephenmichaelsguitar as a pickup yes I love them especially for thrash metal. I have a set in a soloist I own HH. I prefer the JB though for 80s Rock and metal thus the San dimas being my #1. They basically feel identical though in my hands. I prefer the more traditional pickup switching on the socal as well. It’s an interesting question you raise about keeping it or not. If you have a bit of time to wait until the dust settles so to speak that would be good. I like the color you got too. Also a pro of these is they seem a lot more rare to see than the dk24 and San dimas in terms of people playing them . Nice to be unique

@@drinksandsnacks8761 completely different. The RG is a slimmer and way more easier to play than the Charvel. However the Charvel seems more versatile believe it or not. I love my 550 though.
