Fantastic overview and congrats on the new Strat. Just picked up my own last week in the 3 color burst HSS and it’s incredible.. had a well-respected tech do the setup (and specifically for 10’s as well) and it’s so great. I am considering locking tuners as my MIM thinline tele deluxe has them and I’ve gotten spoiled, but I like the aesthetic of the Classic Gears more I may just have to give them a shot. I also noticed the guitar is a lot quieter than my Telecaster (in regards to both guitars single coils, and the tele’s being Noiseless at that). Seems to be a lot less 60cycle hum for me. Plays great, no complaints so far besides having to adjust my picking hands position to adjust to the bridge/volume knob being RIGHT THERE. Amazing video brother, highly recommended just as you articulated! Take care!

Mine came with 9's....I always play on Elixir nanoweb 10's, I set it up with new Exlixir 10's after wearing out the 9's that came with it and it really negatively changed the guitar feel. I expected that to a degree but the amount of adjustment to the spring tension to put on the 10's really stiffened up the FR more than I wanted so I will probably put on some Elixir 9's and just keep 9's on it.

That bound 60s spec CV SB is absolutely one of the best teles for the sub 500 mark for over 10 years now. I have a 2015 3 tone SB 60s CV and its insane ...the rosewood fretboard is the thin cut like the 60s spec and is also extremely rolled edges. I couldnt believe it. I got mine second hand so the previous owner may have done that but i am not so sure. Anyway the alder body also makes it a steal for a vintage spec. I put loaded player series stock pickguard in mine and its been killer. I would like to find a older 2015 or older stock pickups for it. I think those were amazing. Mine had been swapped to cloth wired Mighty Mite ceramics. They sound amazing but i wanted to get it vintage closer. Ill eventually replace them.

I can't justify the price of good Fender Stratocasters these days, I played a GL Fullerton deluxe recently and was blown away with it, and the price is not as high as Fender. If you don't want to change the string trees to keep it authentic, you can spray the bottom of them with PTFE, they then become much slicker, team it uo with a Graphtech nut and you are off to the races! You can also mask off the saddles and lightly spray the string slots also.

Band did a Friday-Saturday at a small club. Friday was rocking with new bass player. New bass player is jazzed so he gets jacked and stays up all night & shows up strung out and hung over for Saturday. New bass player does not know what planet he is on and plays right through every song. Other guitar player was a hard man and takes the new bass player home, throws the new bass player and his gear in the front yard. He is not the new bass player any more and the guitar player tells him that he just got thrown out of the best band he was ever going to be in. Guitar player leaves before he ends the bass player. Bass player jumps up, goes wild, runs around the front yard until in a moment of inspiration he lights the garbage cans in the street on fire. Bass player sets the overhanging tree on fire as well & all hell is breaking loose at 2am. Everyone survives except the garbage cans and the tree. Bass player goes to rehab the next week and actually showed up at one of our gigs & tells us the experience changed his life and he was detoxed and clean.

I did lights for a cover band in the '80's. They were a ZZ top tribute band with beards , shades the whole shtick . The drum riser was a trike that did wheelies . Sometimes they would get the band I was in to open . We did all originals but were developing a very small following . I remember we were at a gig sitting in our van and the guitar player was beside me with a groupie on his lap fooling around . His wife shows up ! Just before she was in sight of him he threw the girl on my lap and told her to kiss me . I had no idea what was happening because it was so fast. His wife later that evening pulls me aside and said she was worried about me . I could get a much better woman then that girl . Smh .

I'll never understand buying instruments without playing them first. Especially if I'm spending thousands of dollars. I would never order/buy a guitar I haven't played first. 🤷‍♂

What I’ve experienced is at home from my high schooler sons as they are uniques as they both play an instrument as their friends both boys and girls don’t play. I think then kids in my era, guitar players were a dime a dozen. These days I think you’ll find 1 or 2 among the same group of 10 may play. 🤓for a variety of reasons; nuclear family change, School music programs, money for music lessons is a luxury in Most homes 🤮blah hadda 💨

It didn't take long to figure out that NYC was not the great place to jump off a new band in the early 90's.The " pay to play" and cut of the door assured that it wasn't profitable, and the same 5 crappy cover acts locally, and national tours got all the good spots.I remember the Flaming Lips,- who were boring AH,- and Blues Traveler becoming popular , - go figure.Pre Grunge, the bands that were popular were just abysmal.Cop Shoot Cop was the band that I wanted spots with, but they were still struggling themselves at that point. The Swans and Sonic Youth were the must see live gigs,- but that was just NYC, not national. The only person I knew that "made it" was Moby, who I had nothing in common with, except part of my first band were stolen from his first band. When I left the area, he had resorted to the DJ thing. Not a good time to be coming up, but then, it almost never is in the music business.Even the guys that got contracts later got screwed over and shelved, ending up in debt.Lots of drugs, drugs, drugs, everwhere.Cop Shoot Cop ending up screwed over and imploding. NYC only got worse, and really ground me down; started having a lot of trouble holding the key members together, eventually just giving up and starting a new project, with all different guys, a year later. That one never made it out of the rehearsal studio. Financial backing is/was just key in a city like NYC, and I had zero, outside a couple girls that would feed me; you could observe that a lot of the people that hung in had parental support, while I was working construction and club security gigs, always struggling . So it goes,- I quit and just did the chef thing with a permanent GF for about 12 years before picking it up again.Still at it, even after struggling with some health issues.

NY was past its prime as a scene in the 90:s. For all intents there wasn’t really a scene. It was just a hodge podge of bars and clubs. That said, it was fun…

@@misterreality Yeah, even earlier there hadn't been a "scene" since the No Wave thing, which remained very niche & local. In a way, - and Moby's success kind of proved it, - it wasn't an environment or time for proper bands, period. There was notably little going on . That's why I thought it was funny when Nirvana caught on; I'd been seeing bands just like them utterly ignored for a decade. It was fun, and I still don't regret dropping out of college to put it together; I think the only thing college is good for outside of specific professions is the connections with people you make. Many go far based on the people they meet in college, especially in any of the Arts fields.
