What a delicious looking cake. Eddie is definitely a treasure and you are very lucky to have him on your team, Paula.
Paula, when my mother made her pound cakes she used a one piece cake pan, like a angel food cake pan. She would first grease it then cut wax paper to go around the edges, then a round section to go in the bottom and around the center in the middle, grease it again then flour. The pound cake would come out perfect. I tried making one just greasing it then flour, but that wax paper is the way to get a perfect pound cake out of that pan. I do have her pound cake pan and I still go through all those steps when I make a pound cake to this day. I was watching this video of Eddie's cake recipe and seeing you cut paper to go in the bottom reminded me of what my mother used to do when she made cakes. This cake looks amazing. I can not wait to try it.

I watched things video this morning. I love that Eddie has the grace that he does. It was his families recipe and Paula took over even though she said she wouldn’t interrupt. It was his families recipe. Please have the grace to just step back. Imperfections in technic should just be let be. You didn’t even know the whisk was a whisk but a spaghetti measure,
It’s a new whisk. Just let them cook please. Your memories are yours and theirs are there own. Clearly this was his. I love your recipes and watch all the time. I will continue but just please leave things be when it’s their family recipes.
@@rachelmatta2264 It is not new. As Eddie said a fan did send it and it was over a year ago when she started doing her Quarantine Cooking videos. It is called a danish whisk and I bought one after seeing it on her show. BTW they work wonderfully. I had wondered why we had never seen her use it, now we know why…..she thought it was to measure spaghetti. Lol, too funny

Been making this for YEARS. It's called Po'Boy Cake and the frosting recipe I have doesn't include the fluff. It's a Sanders icing from the Sanders company. It's a great cake for those that have allergies for eggs.

I like small cakes because it is a great size for one person, eat the entire cake yourself...LOL especially anything chocolate. I love a chocolate cake with this kind of icing. Right after I watched this video I made this cake in a round 9 inch springform pan ....it turned out so good and I just iced it now I used chocoate pudding frosting mmm cant wait to cut into this double layer chocolate cake for hubby tomorrow..fathers day .thanx Eddie for this wonderful easy recipe ..no more chocolate cake mix in our house lol..thanx Paula for another great video😊👍❤✌🙏

Looks great! One trick is if your cakes have a dome on them, You do not have to cut them to even them out. Just turn them upside down so the flat part is facing up and the dome part is facing down. If you are using toothpicks, its a good idea to make sure the toothpicks are bright colors that are easy to see so eaters, especially kids will not swallow them or hurt their mouth or teeth.
i didnt know that seeing someone baking would be this satisfactory and relaxing
This cake is very similar to one my grandmother made called a "Wacky Cake". It was a recipe that was in the newspaper during WW2. My family loves it and is our go to cake when we want chocolate. Thanks for sharing your Grammy's recipe!

Eddies family obviously made this cake for many years without using toothpicks, or attempting to melt the marshmallow cream, or slicing the raised part off of the top ..... and if he wants to put sprinkles on it, just let him and shut it for once... Good Lord!!!

Oh my. This was so very frustrating to watch..... Paula's constant interruptions, even though she said she'd be quiet. Poor Eddie couldn't even finish a sentence! She needs to stay out of the video, like she does when Jamie or Bobby are on. He doesn't need your help!!!
Well, the parts I did watch, Eddie, that looks unique and different. Being Polish, have you heard of the chocolate cake with sauerkraut? It's so good and moist. I see you put some vinegar in your cake, so the kraut would do the same, plus add moisture and sponge to the cake making it very moist. It's also excellent too!

@@charitys.3862 Hi Charity, just saw your comment a while back on your peaches! Happy you were able to get a great harvest! My peach tree didn't produce. The frost got the blossoms early on, and that was the end of it! 😥. Keep that kitty away from your chard! Lol. My tomatoes are really doing well. Made some fresh tomato sauce today. Just finished cleaning a good bit of green onions! Everything is doing great.. it's just a chore having to water 3x a day, since no rain. We did get a good storm last night, but everything is so dry again. Have a good weekend and celebration!

Great recipe.. omg Paula let Eddie explain and talk about his cake. U have a tendency to over talk and interrupt people who are doing their own recipes. Give them a chance to get their explanations out and not cut them off or try to take over what they are doing.

My mom always iced our birthday cakes with homemade fluffy white icing. Now I’m not the cook that mom was and mine was never as good as hers but Eddie just taught me a much easier way to get that fluffy white icing. Thanks for sharing Eddie. 🙏🏼❤️

I keep giggling about the name since mayonnaise is eggs and oil 😋 someone else commented this is a great cake for those allergic to eggs, and I kind of panicked, my daughter is allergic and gets hives, itchy, swollen lips and tongue.
@@valerief1231 This is not a mayonnaise cake. Eddie mentioned chocolate cake recipes, and one recipe was a mayonnaise cake, but it is not the one he used. His recipe is mayonnaise free, egg free.

Holy cow. Just made this and I haven’t had a chance to try the cake yet since I’m letting it cool before icing it, but the frosting is OUT of this world. Hands down the best frosting I have ever had. I’m nervous because I didn’t have baking soda so I used a little extra baking powder. By the looks of it, the cake still looks great. So fingers crossed! 🤞🏼
If you have a kitchen scale and identical pans, I would divide the batter by weight.

Her name is a household name and says it all...no need for her to seem to be so insecure. I don't get that. At the end of her videos (I turn it off before that point) she makes it a special point to 'like and subscribe'. I know it's a You Tube thing, but all she needs to do is put something in her kitchen that says 'like and subscribe' Many don't go through what she does because she says to make sure and subscribe at the beginning of many videos as well. It's almost like a pushy salesman.
