Fun fact, when filming the movie these scenes are from he refused to kiss the female lead because he didn't want to kiss a woman other than his wife. He also actually did the roping and riding in the movie because he is a real life cowboy with a ranch and a degree in agriculture. An all around great guy, loved by all, and the real deal. That's why he's the king.
Pure Country is a fun movie. My wife is a professional singer. When she’s going to perform I often say “best wishes being the dancing chicken” she just thinks I’m being weird, which is true, but “dancing chicken” is from an important part in the movie this song is in. Excellent review
George is the best. 61 #1 hits. More than anyone I believe. George grew up around horses and now has a ranch of his own. He actually was not a bronc rider despite what a lot of people think. He did and sometimes still does (mostly in celebrity competitions etc) compete in team roping. George is a humble and genuinely nice guy. This video was mostly scenes from a movie he starred in called Pure Country. After reading the script and realizing that his character had a love interest, he made it clear that the extent of his "love scenes" would be embraces. No beds and no kissing, because he thought it would be disrespectful to his wife. Though he is officially retired (again) he occasionally does a short concert tour. The venues he plays these days are huge places like the Astrodome in Houston, and they sell out in minutes. He did a good job in the movie. Worth a watch. Stay safe and well and adorable Maggie.
Actually Kevin I know the Astrodome is closed down. I just meant stadiums like that. You're right. He hasn't done a concert there in about 10 years. Thanks though.@@kevinmoore2929
You Could Not HELP But Fall In Love With George - Especially Live! He Does Rodeo But Not The Events Where You Should End Up On The Ground!😂😂😂 Watch His Movie Pure Country - It's Awesome! George Is The REAL Deal - As Real Country As It Gets!
George is an amazing artist!!! And this is a romantic winner of a song! Love the movie Pure Country that it is from, and the scenes shown are from. You should see it some day! More great George Straight Music. Great Job Maggie!!
The video we watched was the clips from the 1992 movie "Pure Country." To be honest I'm not a big country music fan but I really liked the movie and do like older version of country music. Glad you liked it, see you next time Maggie!
This song was big about 30 years ago. It is a classic and still deserves to be heard today. But we do not hear this kind of connection to the roots of country much anymore. Liked the song and the video (thanks Rose), nice reaction by you. 😀(And Poppy too)
I loved having him as a substitute agriculture teacher at my high school in Texas. He used to invite us to go to the dancehalls he would play at so he would have an audience. I remember him announcing that he just put out his first album and playing a song called Unwound from it.
This was my first ex-wife and my song. It can still be difficult for me to listen to at times. To say George was big is an understatement, and my grandmother just loved him. He's the real deal as a cowboy and rodeo rider and not just someone wanting that kind of reputation. His "Amarillo By Morning" is also outstanding.
In his movie, Pure Country, he is a country singer named Dusty. and knows that he is being used and abused by his manager and the system. He has taken on a "style" that he can't stand. He decides to leave it, hitch hikes back home, and visits his Grandma, trying to get back to his roots. He makes trades his shiny boots to the truck driver who gives him a lift. gets a fresh haircut, ditching the ponytail look, goes to a ranch, where he pays two fellas to let him hang out, get some "lessons", does some ranch work. Which, in real life, is how he grew up. His drummer and best friend tracks him down. He falls in love with the girl, and comes back ONLY after his Manager agrees to do things HIS way. He comes back with his "new" style, sings a romantic song directly to the girl, woo had ZERO idea was already a star. "I Cross My Heart", and he gets the girl in the end!
WooHoo!!.... Great Song and Video from the Movie "Pure Country"..... George Strait is a Country Legend...... True Cowboy.... and over 60 #1 songs on the Country Charts......
Anytime Garth Brooks is asked in an interview what he wants to be when he grows up, or what he wants to be in life, or something similar….the answer is always “George Strait”.
George is the King of Country Music...He has over 60 #1 hits, and continues to put out music even though he doesnt tour full time anymore. A # of artists were inspired by George and starter their career after listening to him...Thr movie he is in is called Pure County. The dalled up women is Susan Sarandon.
Troubadour is great too , and old Mexico. He, along with his son, are roping champions. Too many good songs to list. This video is from "pure Country " (Movie
I want to say thank you to both you and Rose for this reaction. I met my wife in 1996, started a romantic relationship with her about a year later, then Jan. 22, 1999 we got married. Last year on June 7th I lost her to complications related to her Spina-Bifida. This was our wedding song and for 23 years we lived this through good times and bad. I really appreciate the reaction, thank you.
Great video! He's such great singer! And hasn't lost a step, I saw him live in Vegas last December. He sounds as good as when I saw him in Nashville in 98.
Young lady, Mr. Strait is a true Southern gentleman for Texas, and of course, the king of country music. Pure Country is a wonderful movie that he stared in. Please take an afternoon and watch it. You will not be disappointed at all. With 60 #1 hit songs, I'm sure there's more song you will like. I personally have been a Strait fan since he released Unwound in 81. Before I married my beautiful wife, of 37 years, I was informed that I would be playing 2nd fiddle to Mr. Strait. I was okay with that. I believe we have seen him in concert 6 times, and let me tell you, he is like wine and gets better with time. Thank you for your true reaction to this song, and I would recommend these songs, run, lead on, blame it on Mexico, the chair, carried away, write this down and our favorite is carring your love with me! Catch a concert, and if you ask, he might let you ride one of his horses on his ranch because he is a real Cowboy and loves to rope.
When this came out, all of the country folk I was stationed with all went out to see it. Also did the same with 8 Seconds. The best part of both movies were the end. We didn’t get up to leave until the final credits were done. People got up to leave but then realized that the film wasn’t over. 6:45
I love the movie Pure Country. See in the movie, he's a country super star that grows tired of the glits and glamour. He goes for a walk about to find himself again.
pure country was a good movie as well as a good soundtrack and george straight looked sexy in his jeans hell he still does he has a nice tuckus and a amazin voice
My favorites from King George are So Much Like My Dad; I Cross My Heart; You Look So Good In Love; Love Without End, Amen; Carrying Your Love With Me; The Cowboy Rides Away; What’s Going On In Your World; Today My World Slipped Away; When Did You Stop Loving Me; I’d Like To Have That One Back; The Best Day; and I Know She Still Loves Me.
King George!!!! I love most genres of music so great to see you react to an amazing country song by one of the greatest of all-time. I would LOVE for you to listen to "Believe" by my favorite country artists "Brooks and Dunn". Ronnie Dunn has arguably the greatest vocals (F2 - A#4 (2.4 octaves) in country music. Believe will make you tear up. They also play harder rockin' country songs as well... greatest duo in Country Music history!

King George. 60+ number one hits. More than any artist ever of any genre
You really need to see that movie. The context of the song is clearer there and the movie is very good. Pure Country.
George is the best. 61 #1 hits. More than anyone I believe. George grew up around horses and now has a ranch of his own. He actually was not a bronc rider despite what a lot of people think. Jeff, did you mean to say AT&T stadium? The Astrodome has not been a venue for a long time, at least a decade if not longer.
Actually Kevin I know the Astrodome is closed down. I just meant stadiums like that. You're right. He hasn't done a concert there in about 10 years. Thanks though.@@kevinmoore2929

Yes Amarillo by morning
“He’s a country guy.”
Correction: he is THE country guy.
George is the GOAT
Debatable, but he is up there.
He's THE singer
I loved having him as a substitute agriculture teacher at my high school in Texas. He used to invite us to go to the dancehalls he would play at so he would have an audience. I remember him announcing that he just put out his first album and playing a song called Unwound from it.
I sang this song to my wife at our wedding in 1996. 27 years later she still puts up with me lol

George Strait is iconic. One of the best. His steel guitar player is without a doubt the best in the business. Mike Daily I think is his name.
Thank you for posting. Great movie "pure country" if you want to complete the reaction "doubleheader."
He could choose any George Strait songs and it’s awesome
Troubadour is great too , and old Mexico. He, along with his son, are roping champions. Too many good songs to list. This video is from "pure Country "

Several years ago I saw a countdown of the 100 greatest country songs and this song was ranked #7.
The clips in the video are from the movie Pure Country, which he starred in.
A pretty good movie.
George Strait is so very awesome! George and his wife who is in this video have been married 50 + years. Love your reaction!
I want to say thank you to both you and Rose for this reaction. I met my wife in 1996, started a romantic relationship with her about a year later, then Jan. 22, 1999 we got married. This song played at our wedding before taking our vows.
If I ever went country😱It would be because of George Strait and Blake Shelton. They some pretty boys🥰
Every time i hear this i cry,it was mine and hubbys song. Sometimes he would play it over the phone for me.
Pure Country is definitely worth watching, and as a singer you'll probably empathize a bit with it.
"Amarillo by morning" live will give you goosebumps
Every time I hear this song, it makes me cry because we played it at my mom's funeral 18 years ago
Great video! He's such great singer! And hasn't lost a step, I saw him live in Vegas last December. He sounds as good as when I saw him in Nashville in 98.
"Amarillo by Morning" is his signature song.

George Strait is a team roper. Yes, at 71, he looks great.
Old school country yea baby 👍🏼💜
He stopped his show in Vegas to sing this song to his wife in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Pure country..
Good ol George!
That song is the ending scene in the movie 'Pure Country.' I watch it every time it comes on TV.
King George!
Young lady, Mr. Strait is a true Southern gentleman for Texas, and of course, the king of country music.

Texas and Oklahoma are very special. It is a special sound to country music. I love his talent.
Pure Country, great movie if you get the chance to watch.
Good man--great song!
"Amarillo by Morning"is the song that is most identified with him.
From the movie Pure Country staring George Strait.
When this came out, all of the country folk I was stationed with all went out to see it. Also did the same with 8 Seconds. The best part of both movies were the end. We didn’t get up to leave until the final credits were done. People got up to leave but then realized that the film wasn’t over. 6:45

I used to sing this to my gf at the time whenever it was played when we were out dancing.
He was playing Vegas recently and stopped the show to delicate this song to his wife on their 50 th wedding anniversary.

George Strait recently went on the road nationwide after he semi-retired and toured only in his home state of Texas.
All hail King George
King George!!!! I love most genres of music so great to see you react to an amazing country song by one of the greatest of all-time. I would LOVE for you to listen to "Believe" by my favorite country artists "Brooks and Dunn". Ronnie Dunn has arguably the greatest vocals (F2 - A#4 (2.4 octaves) in country music. You should watch the whole movie. The clips are from that not a music video. He’s also a real cowboy and a very gracious entertainer
Hoping that I can one day serenade my future spouse with this song. This song is at the top end of my vocal range.
These are scenes from his movie "PURE COUNTRY"
👍❤️❤️
Where did the last 30+ years go! Seems like this just came out yesterday!
I can think of a few more GS pieces such as Check Yes or No (a cute young romance piece) or the flip side of George might be 'Give it Away'
Was me and my wife’s first dance at our wedding
Scenes are from the movies Pure Country"
SOOOO many great voices in country music. Check out some Shenandoah, David Ball, Clay Walker, John Anderson..etc
I’d like to see her reaction to “The Chair”.
She fell in love with him. We all do; we all do.
Hope you react to You Look So Good In Love, one of my favorites by King George.
King George is also a REAL COWBOY; a champion rodeo roper. He owns a ranch in TX, &, is married to Highschool sweetheart.
"I cross my heart" AKA ,everyone's wedding song in the 80s 😂
My ex-wife's favorite movie and song...Pure Country
